And the TORtanic has finally hit the bottom of the Challenger Deep.
I wonder what will happen to a character over 50 if a subs lapses.

You probably won't be able to access it or it downgrades your character to level 50 but keeps EXP so if you resub it will go past level 50 again.
SWTOR is a game with much potential, 1.2 and 1.3 has proved that, aswell as the server transfers. This game is in no way "Tortanic." It just had a great deal of launch issues, most of which were address. Now that they were addressed the population has increased a great deal. F2P doesn't mean failure.
Was considering playing again for free but then this happened:

Apparently quick travel and maybe flight points are a sub only feature.

Can F2Pers use the speeder taxis?
(I didn't play SWTOR too much because my sub expired and I didn't feel it was worth 15 a month.)
I've always wanted to play as an overweight Jedi in some horrific abomination of an MMO.
Might give it a shot.

I don't know. The description from the site is extremely vague. Here is the full list:

If the OP can put this in the first post, it would be extremely helpful.

Sure if we're ignoring how huge SWTOR was supposed to be and how it's lost most of its subs. If you go F2P less than a year off from launch you've done something severely wrong.
This does not surprise me in the slightest. I knew it wouldn't even be a year before this game went F2P when it came out.

Look, i'm not saying the game lived up to it's expectations. But that doesn't change the fact that the game has potential, which was proved in 1.2 and 1.3.

Well if you looked at the Pay vs Free features, this is going to hurt the game more than it can help it.

Super limited access to auction house is another giant pile is shit.
I would pick up a random skill like scavenging and then just sell EVERYTHING that I got since I didn't use it.
[editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
Lets hope they add a little bit more for F2Pers.
Another 'WoW-killer' has gone F2P.
how do you fuck up a 200 million dollar budget
I'm guessing Bioware is regretting not making KoToR 3.

And the game wasn't rushed by EA like Warhammer Online was. This game took its damned time to come out.

You buy a half finished game engine for a start.
Neat. I think I'll play it. I liked the game as a $60 purchase but not enough for continued monthly fee.
Kind of to be expected but not THIS soon.

It was never going to be a 'wow killer'
I'm not even going to waste my time, comparing the features this is more like a trial than f2p. And on top of that they have the audacity to not only limit free play players but also introduce a payed currency?
No thank you.
It was never going to be a 'wow killer'
So they spent $200 million just on the game and only expected it to do OK?
I remember several years back when this game had the shit hyped out of it.
Now from what Ive heard, it barely lived up to its expectations.
What's so bad about it? I'm more interested in the story of what happens and Revan's fate etc.
They fucked that up badly. You don't want to see what happened to Revan.

I bought PC Gamer for the first time in ages, and all it had was a 15 page article on how great this game was. Coupled with several more pages of advertisements, and articles on which PC Gamer writer wants to do in the game.
Pissed me off.
Sad thing is from the short amount I played this is that I know it would have been a pretty decent single-player game.

Anyone who went in thinking it was anything other than WoW with a Star Wars skin fooled themselves.
Granted I like WoW and I like Star Wars so I thought the game would be more fun than it was. The leveling stuff was alright, but the endgame "MMO" stuff was severely lacking. Atleast now I don't have to pay for it.

I remember reading that article and wanting to get The Old Republic, but never did because I thought 15 bucks a month was a bit ridiculous.
