The game HAD potential, but Bioware & EA screwed it up, they focused far too much on the leveling content and not the end game (which is the most important part of a successful MMO), it doesn't help that their programmers are severely mentally challenged and couldn't handle making the game function with more than ten people in the same room.
And I understand that all, but i'm not ready to completely give up hope that Bio-ware has the ability to turn it around. We've seen MMO's turn it around on serveral occasions. Best example I can think of is STO.
Amusing how they said that SWTOR would survive until 2020. Why do devs refuse to do it the way ArenaNet are doing with Guild Wars 1/2? You buy the game, no monthly fee but you pay for large expansions and there is a small cash shop with cosmetic items and other miscellaneous fun stuff. A mixture of both F2P and the subscription model.
Wow, the restrictions are ridiculous.
And you have to pay 15 dollars just to play at all.
And you have to pay 15 dollars just to play at all.
Generally $15 would be the price to give you "premium" features for at least a while. Oh yeah I'm totally going to spend money to get fucked in the ass in terms of features. I played a lot of the game in the beta, and not having access to local transportation would make the game almost unbearable.
Woooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah You don't have to pay $15 to play. That's only at retail you do and all that does is give you 1 month of sub which is how much a sub costs. Online you can just download and play and just be a normal F2P player from the get go.
Wait, Thom is right, its completely free http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/6471

Goddamn EA converting to F2P is an easy process. And you managed to fuck THAT up. I got the impression that when the update hits. 1. If you wanted to truly play for free you could only get to level 15 like now. 2. If you wanted unlimited level but extreme restrictions you buy the base game for 15 dollars and continue to play without sub 3. if you want unlimited everything then you pay 15 dollars a month after buying the game for 15 dollars. But apparently it isn't.

You can buy it for $15 but don't worry after that it's Free to Play, unless you want end game content and free in game money! oh did I mention we restrict so many features that new players see it and go, this is limited, this is limited, this is limited - what's the point in paying $15 to play a severely stripped down version of a game. More reasons to NOT play it.
Why didn't they just do a KOTOR 3 ? This could have turned out pretty well. At least better than that.
Meh. My friend convinced me to get this about a week and a half ago. Sure I lol'd when I heard about it going F2P but meh. It's not much a month. I enjoy the PVP and it makes my friend happy so it's worth it.
Why didn't they just do a KOTOR 3 ? This could have turned out pretty well. At least better than that.
Bioware was developing it but Lucasarts canned it. Anyways, I'll probably play through the Smuggler story since it will be free.

When was the last time we heard about a new Rogue Squadron game, for example ?
Bioware was developing it but Lucasarts canned it.
Source? I've never heard this before.
