There's must be some kind of cognitive dissonance going on when you have to ignore, gloss over, or reinterpret so many parts of a supposedly holy book when they no longer become convenient to follow, or socially acceptable. You must at some level be acknowledging that it can't really be the word of God you're only following the parts you want to follow.

That's pretty much it. That way they can piss off the entire spectrum of people based on religion and sexual orientation. You know how most christians hold their religion to their hearts, so of course even they are offended by these so-called 'christians' beliefs
