I thought pain and temperature went with "touch", though not literally only when we touch something... they are part of the sensations on our skin right? Then again, I don't particularly know if the people with the disease that makes them feel no pain can feel temperature, if they can, I suppose it's a different sense from touch. Balance I can agree with being a separate sense though
Different sensors. They're just located in the same places.

If one defines a sense by whether or not it's detected by a separate part of the body, then pain, temperature and touch are in fact separate (although there is a bit of overlap; nociceptors register heat or cold beyond a certain amount as pain).
Except sense of pain, temperature, balance are also considered senses.
I would say sense of pain falls under the category of sense of touch. Same goes for temperature pretty much. As for balance, that is controlled by a small organ in your brain or something.

Headaches for example don't come from something hitting your head. Nevermind migraines.
Except sense of pain, temperature, balance are also considered senses.
don't forget acceleration and proprioception
I would say sense of pain falls under the category of sense of touch. Same goes for temperature pretty much. Touch, or tactile experience, is when a part of the body touches a surface to feel its texture. Just because we can feel that an ice cube is both smooth and cold does not mean that we use the same sense. There are several senses working together to create our perception of the object. A close relation would be how smell helps us taste, and we don't even notice it most of the time.
I don't understand why you are rated dumb. The way we perceive faces has been identified and mapped to an extent. Maybe not a sense per say, but there is a disorder called Prosopagnosia. It is a result of injury to the inferior occipito-temporal lobe. Prosopagnosia is basically face blindness. You can't see or recongise faces. Why? Because facial recognition is such a big part of what we've evolved to be. Short and old video. [3:31] Longer and much better video. [22:10]
Well shit I've always had a tough time with this too. It's not impossible, but I more rely upon a person's smell and the sound of their voice than their face.
I would say sense of pain falls under the category of sense of touch. Same goes for temperature pretty much.
Temperature is certainly a different sense to touch, since it's not really physical pressure on the nerves. I never get why pain is thought of separate to touch though, since really it's just an intense touch sensation. Like if you grab a bit of your skin and gradually pinch harder and harder where do you draw the line between a sensation of touch and pain?

They can activate simultaneously. Imagine hitting a finger with a hammer by mistake. You have pain without pressure. Same thing happens when you burn yourself. 2 minutes after touching a hot plate you don't experience the burning sensation because your finger/skin is hot any more. That is just pure pain.

Thinking that people have only 5 senses is the same as believing that there are only 4 elements.
But what about headaches? It's a pain too, but it's not related to touching anything or the skin.
we have nerves in more places than our skin
I HATE the misconception that we've got five senses. As JgcxCub said pain, temperature, and balance are their own senses, as well as hunger, itchiness, and the non-visual perception of the position of your body parts. It's unclear how many we have, but it's a hell of a lot more than five.
Wow man you take science seriously
we have nerves in more places than our skin
Given that the whole brain is just one big lump of nerves, we don't actually have pain receptors in our head.
Is racism a sense technically? Since it's an instinctive fear of difference.
I smelled a Mexican once. Apparently that was not appropriate workplace behavior.
