Also its MALWARE not virus's. Please use the correct word to describe infections.
When the guy playing PC says there are ...... known virus's for PC's people automatically assumed that this included Macs for some dumb reason. Then the "Macs are immune to virus's" quote was born. I've not once heard Apple refute the claim.
That never says they can't get viruses. The PC guys say there are "114,000 known viruses for PCs". Obviously, a Mac isn't going to be infected by malware made for PCs, so they're technically correct.

Also, Apple has admitted that Macs can get malware. They even include antimalware software in the OS for it, which has been there since 2009.

To add to this, what they're obviously getting at is that malware for Macs is basically a non-issue. Your chances of getting infected on a Mac are incredibly slim, especially when compared to the incredibly high rate of infections on Windows. Plus the user doesn't have the hassle of having to deal with specific antimalware applications.
In 2008, there were 1.5 million different pieces of malware targeting Windows machines. There are less than 200 pieces of malware targeting the Mac.
I might be late (Didn't read all the answers) but isn't it kind of a logical conclusion that the more Apple user there are, the more Apple viruses there will be?
With the whole IPad/Pod/Phone/etc... booming on the market, you can reach alot more people on macs.
Tomb.

Welcome to PunchFace!
And yes, this is a logical conclusion.
In other news, Macs continue to be more secure regardless.
"There are ...... known virus's for PC's. Not Macs" When Mac replied "Not Macs" people assumed that "Macs cannot get virus's" and/or "There are no virus's for Macs" Then the "Macs are immune to virus's" quote was born. I've not once heard Apple refute the claim.
This commercial is misleading to people who don't know any better.
I was raging so you might of saw a few different versions of this post that made no sense. I had to walk away from the computer to calm down then come back and properly write what I was meant to write.
There used to be IE for Macs. For a while, it was actually the best option. Now, it's a horrible, horrible ghost of the past.
Oh fun, my college has a Mac-standard, I hope the office files that they send us are not touched.
