Malaysian passenger airliner shot down over Ukraine near Russian border
I remember once seeing a military aircraft (transport or air radar) on FR24 flying around on the East Coast U.S.. So what does the yellow aircraft represent?
AWACS and cargo aircraft generally occupy civil flight paths so they do show up on tracking websites. Combat planes either aren't equipped with that equipment or leave it turned off.
The situation was already extreme. When the police and the fucking military have to get involved, you're well past the point of "extreme". What makes you think it would have ended any better with them intervening?
I didn't say it wasn't extreme. But when the two groups started gaining members and fighting more openly it spiraled out of control. If only one group had taken that path it would've been put down quickly by the government. I mentioned the military because I believe the Ukrainian SWAT team (Berkut?) was dismantled and their duties handed over to the army.
It doesn't matter if they have a history of doing those things or not. Anyone with a brain knows that when civilian aircraft being destroyed in warzones isn't unheard of, you shouldn't fly them there. Other airlines knew to do that, so why didn't Malaysia?

Could just be another plane flying past. Its hard to tell from a video, I wouldn't trust a video of FR24 when you can link to that moment in time and see what the aircraft was reporting as.
Also; I should add to my previous statement, they only don't appear if they make sure they aren't making themselves aware. During the stuff in Libya a NATO tanker forgot to turn off its transponder and appeared for a couple of hours till a bunch of tweets got tweeted at NATO..
Shit's gonna hit the fan for Ukraine...
It's got all the makings for a Lusitania-style diplomatic crisis.
I'm really worried that this'll spark some massive, possibly even world scale conflict.
I cared at first, but then I realized how little people did about Odessa and other killings. Then I remembered all the articles claiming they were Russians and asking for it. So yea.
Nobody cried for war when ultras intentionally burned people alive. Rebels make a mistake, suddenly people do.
I can't not notice the stark difference, sorry.
the difference is that it wasnt random outsiders that came in and burned those pro-Russian protesters alive, it was anti-Russian protesters, and was therefore part of the civil conflict currently occuring in Ukraine
in this case the pro-Russian forces shot down a completely uninvolved airliner full of random people
if those anti-russian protesters in the Odessa killings had burned a hotel full of random, uninvolved people then Im sure there would have been much more of an outcry, likewise, I doubt there would be as big of an outcry about this incident if the rebels had shot down another An-26
thats not to trivialize the deaths of Ukrainians, but it makes sense that deaths involving the parties that are actually fighting are less surprising than deaths involving completely unassociated outsiders

Anyone with a brain, AKA anyone with 20-20 hindsight vision and not governments, companies, or average people evidently. Maybe you should do consulting work if you know so much.
There is a no-fly zone, this plane was flying way above it and didn't expect to be shot down. They were specifically targeted for being a civilian aircraft, so that is tantamount to terrorism.
I'm really worried that this'll spark some massive, possibly even world scale conflict.
Wouldn't go that far I'd say, but there's definitely going to be repercussions.
No because those are at ground level and can easily be hijacked or destroyed with no special equipment.
The plane was 10 KM in the air, only military grade equipment posed a threat.
Plus both the regions you mentioned have a history of doing those things, Ukraine has no history of blowing up civilian aircraft.
And anything capable of engaging at that range is also capable of recognizing civilian aircraft.
This is someone using vehicle borne surface to air missiles to intentionally shoot down civilian aircraft.

There is a no-fly zone, this plane was flying way above it and didn't expect to be shot down. It's really easy to say they shouldn't fly there after the fact. End of story.
Well considering other airlines rerouted flights away from the warzone, I'd say it's not some mystery that nobody could figure out like you seem to believe.
Anybody watching Obama's speech?

Honestly with all the stupid shit Russia is doing I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they outright declared war on any country that tries to hold them accountable. Seriously these are the guys that commemorate The Olympics by invading a peaceful country "because that's what they want".
From BBC live feed:
19:00: A tweet (in Russian) from a key Twitter account used by pro-Russian separatists, in which they claim to have captured a Buk surface-to-air missile system, has now been deleted, BBC Monitoring observes. Ukrainians say the Malaysian plane could have been downed with a Buk, but pro-Russian rebels have now denied they have it.
Everyone flies over that area.

It's not:

There are multiple planes over Ukraine, long after they said they were routing traffic away like 2 hours ago.

good job

NEVER post anything which has any kind of shit like that as an actual picture, it's not fucking rocket science to realize it's shocking (even if YOU are desensitized).

I guess you haven't been desensitized enough.

hundreds of planes fly over all countries at all times - including countries that are often hostile/unstable like iraq and afghanistan.
usually a passenger jet is flying so high that your average yobbo terrorist cant hit it. To shoot down a 777 you need military shit, anti air veichles and crap.
Apparently Putin's jet flew the same path 40 mins after the downed plane and may have been the target but it's totally unconfirmed.
This video is suggesting an armed military aircraft shot down the airliner?
I don't know, im just posting raw info that i find on Ukrainian/Russian websites. Other sources write that, it shot down by BUK. Maybe it is the rocket that radar is picking up(no label)?
Can anyone who is familiar with this or has info confirm?

Yeah, that was the point, the fact that they should be safe. Saying "they should've expected this just like you should expect to get your boat hijacked in Somalia" is silly and a bad comparison.

Alright; these are the worst pics so far. Dear fucking lord that person is smashed in between all that plane debris..

FlightRadar doesn't use radar (despite its name), it relies on reporting signals from the aircraft themselves. So you will never see things that a radar would see (like a missile).

Could be fucking hilarious if rebels shot down a plane with Putin onboard.
Hold the fuck up.
17:57: "The portable air defence systems which we have, they work at a maximum of three to four thousand metres. Therefore, it is possible to say virtually before the start of the investigation that the Ukrainian armed forces destroyed this," separatist spokesman Sergey Kavtaradze says.
Then how the fuck did you shoot down the Ukrainian Military aircraft at over 6000m?
