i'm so confused
[QUOTE=Sky News Twitter]Update - Ukrainian Interior Ministry adviser: Malaysian plane was brought down by a ground-to-air missile & all 295 people on board are dead[/QUOTE]
[QUOTE=Turing;45418046]ukraiinian tv just confirmed it was shot down from russian territory[/QUOTE]
I'm watching RT right now and funnily enough they haven't reported that yet.
[QUOTE=cucumber;45418029]The last time when Russia shot down a plane it had Polish officials and president in it and nothing happened.[/QUOTE]
I thought that plane just crashed?

Most likely it will have been the rebels, they seem to be just shooting at anything flying overhead.
They say that its not certain the plane was shot down on the news here and that it is still a rumor

That's what the Russians what you to think
[QUOTE=Turing;45418046]ukraiinian tv just confirmed it was shot down from russian territory[/QUOTE]
"confirmed"
I think this is only the third time I've ever seen the BBC use their top-level breaking news alert. They only use it like once a year

It'd be a huge coincidence for it to have just crashed there near where other aircraft have been lost recently, it honestly probably was shot down.
[QUOTE=OvB;45417985]777 are super-reliable. Speaks volumes about Malaysian Airlines if they lost two of them to mechanical problems in one year.[/QUOTE]
It still wasn't confirmed what caused MH370 to go down, was it? Still, even if Malaysian Airlines maintains their fleet just fine, their reputation is down the gutter.
Saw a Dutch newswebsite claim it was shot down as well. Only catched a glimpse of it though and didn't see the source. Still think it's pretty likely though.
This is just going to get so much worse if it was actually shot down.
holy FUCK, this is going to be a shitstorm
I think I'll wait a bit on this one and read up when outlets have stopped jumping on the first thing they hear.

Shitty video, but you can see the smoke slightly.

Nu.nl says that it is not comfirmed
God damn rough times are ahead. I hope there are survivors in this.
[QUOTE=purvisdavid1;45417979]Wouldn't commercial aircraft be outside of the range of MANPAD systems?[/QUOTE]
By nearly 2 times the range assuming the plane was at 30000 feet.
Russia is saying Ukraine accidentally shot it down.
Fox is saying it was shot down by a Russian missile but I think it's going to take time to confirm.

I hate to say this, but given the altitude it couldn't have just been rebels. If it was really shot down, and at cruise alts then it would have had to be a "proper" SAM system. Which require people to know what they are doing.
Of course, rebels could include anyone from the Ukrainian military that has defected.

[QUOTE=purvisdavid1;45417979]Wouldn't commercial aircraft be outside of the range of MANPAD systems?[/QUOTE]
MANPAD yes, proper SAM systems no. Like a guy with a stinger / strella would struggle to take one down at cruise alt but a SAM system could.

no one knows what's going on that's the only thing that we know.

To fix it (remove spaces):
[code][ media ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48YlDSVFVMI[/ media] [/code]
Google made YouTube use HTTPS globally, which breaks the BBCode for it here if used (maybe on other forums too, not sure).
[QUOTE=sloppy_joes;45418064]I thought that plane just crashed?[/QUOTE]
Russia carried out the full investigation and report, and still refuses to give any third parties access to the wreckage....
[QUOTE=Laserbeams;45418006]Hijacked in Amsterdam?[/QUOTE]
Doubtful, it might have been hijacked 3/4 of the way there to attack some kind of target then either and they may have fucked up and crashed it. Similar to what happened with United Airlines flight 93
Otherwise it was just shot down then.
Why would anyone shoot down a commercial airplane! This is Murder!
Seems all passengers died in the crash according to Interfax (Russian press).
