Wait, so it wasn't the separatists that shot it down, but russian troops? Cossacks aren't smart enough to use AA emplacements, also you'd need someone on a radar giving coordinates. This is suspicious
Where did you get Russian troops from?
Yeah, why would NATO get involved over a culture war between two ex-soviet countries.
I don't know, maybe because fucking 295 citizens of the NATO countries died? [editline]17th July 2014[/editline]
Where did you get Russian troops from?
Oh yeah I forgot, Cossacks are clearly Ukrainian
Yeah, why would NATO get involved over a culture war between two ex-soviet countries.
Because that would escalate the situation and cause an even more aggressive response. You might be able to end this situation with force, and end up starting shit somewhere else and having more people die in the long run.

I assume that by the name "cossacks", he means a certain group of militants.
Where did you get Russian troops from?

Oh yeah I forgot, Cossacks are clearly Ukrainian
Just to clarify, the Chernuhino checkpoint is between Luhansk and Donetsk.
The cossacks are an ethnic group living around Eastern Ukraine.
You realize its from a song though, right?
No I don't, so it's a pretty stupid post.

They are a symbol of power and free will, but in reality they were close to legitimized bandits. Maybe by calling themselves Cossacks again these people wanted to get farther away from the "Kyiv nazis"?
I'm pretty sure they meant actual russian cossacks, since it's known they have been seen helping the separatists
Direct involvement without at least some cover for exactly this reason is monumentally stupid. They'd probably use some codephrase for Russian troops.

Taken from the BBCs live feed.
19:00: A tweet (in Russian) from a key Twitter account used by pro-Russian separatists, in which they claim to have captured a Buk surface-to-air missile system, has now been deleted, BBC Monitoring observes. Ukrainians say the Malaysian plane could have been downed with a Buk, but pro-Russian rebels have now denied they have it.
I don't have any other info about the tweet but the BBC picked it up and they're pretty legit.
Who exactly is being shot at?
Supposedly, survivors. The plane was carrying the Polish President, his wife and a bunch of other government officials. Who is he
This is suspicious
You don't need to have a PhD to operate an anti-aircraft weapon system. In all of the videos I've seen a shit ton of old men fighting on the Separatist side, so I'm going to bet they found at least one motherfucker who probably trained on that weapon system when he was conscripted.
apparently an eye witness shows what really caused the plane to crash.
So many people dead. Because some fucking retarded rebels in their petty little fight. Fuck. I hope these people get rounded up and imprisoned for their entire life. Seriously. Shooting a CIVILIAN plane down. What the actaul fuck is wrong with them, HOW can you expect ANYONE to support you if they have a right mind once you have done that.
Why are so many people so angry? The translations make it seem that they did not know they were targeting a civilian plane until the found the wreckage, and then they realized how monumentally fucked they were. I mean, this was a terrible incident but it isn't like the consciously decided to murder nearly 300 people.

Even if it's a matter of incompetence, they are still 100% responsible. Asking why people are so angry is a pretty dumb question.
I'm starting to think the separatists were not behind this, if the evidence was really pointing in that direction, the US would have come out with some pretty severe rhetoric by now, instead, their leaders have been unusually restrained. My guess is they know, or at least suspect the Ukrainian military was responsible. If they had serious reason to believe it was the Russian's they would have at least heavily implied it by now.
27 Australians.. Holy fuck.
Good lord all of you people are buying into exactly what the point of this attack probably was As it stands, there is no definitive proof as to who did it. Odds are, this attack was setup to start a huge blame game. All of this "Ukraninan Military" this and "separatists" that is literally the point of it all. Just hold on until the attacker is brought to light, then you can start calling them shit.

Well if you wanna look on the 'bright side' at least it was probably caused by incompetence rather than malicious intent.
Is anyone really going to step forward and do anything but point fingers at the other side? Unless I'm mistaken, I can't see any reason why either side would take the blame for this at the moment.

Damn this hits close to home. I work at Dulles Airport and everyday I deal with hundreds of people flying Malaysia to Amsterdam. I was working yeterday evening too, unreal that this could have been people I talked to face to face.

I think their actions were reprehensible, but so many people in this thread are going on a shitfit acting like they purposefully shot down a civilian aircraft.
Everyone here is speculating the Ukrainians but I speculate the Russians
