Loads of people use that, the range (30km) isn't sufficient to reach from Russia to past Poltava (230km+)
I doubt its still in service in Russia. They would use s400.
By saying its a BUK hes totally ruled Russia out.
Then theres motive, there would be loads of planes over Ukraine, some closer than that one. Why target one so deep in Ukraine. There is no reason what so ever for Russia to risk shooting down a civilian plane, so deep in Ukrainian territory.
Any source which 'confirms' it as russia is blatent propaganda.
This doesn't rule out the rebels.
The SA-11 is still a mainstay of the Russian armed forces, as well as many Eastern European countries.
Ukraine would also use s-300. Also, Ukraine wouldn't use AA because they know the separatists don't have planes
I've added some more to my post. It is a distinct possibility of being the rebels, though their motive would be unknown.
I bet that it was just Russians thinking it was a military plane and shot it down for obvious reasons. Now they are probably trying to get a blame game going on.
As far as i know, you can distinguish military transports from passenger planes. Not to mention that military sure have a full access to all civilian flight lists. So if it was shot down, then whoever did this wanted to shoot down this exact plane.
Also, not implying anything, but there was a similar incident in 2001, by the way.
If evidence confirms a missile was fired at it, may those that were involved in its firing be subject to a slow and painful death. I don't care whether or not you support the death penalty or not (regardless this isn't the time to be fighting about it, there's ratings for a reason) - a person that kills 295 is a heartless bastard.
i'm scared, pls don't escalate
Malaysia Airlines is having no luck this year.
ok, so earlier on the Ukrainian media were reporting on rebel BUKs around Torez.
and now a civilian plane has been shot down over Torez.
So either that's what happened and the rebels shot it down, or the Ukrainians are trying to fabricate some kind of Lusitania incident.
Wow my country's luck sure is in the shitter
Whoever did this has lost the propaganda war
According to this RBC report, separatists had claimed they shot down an An-26, witnesses saw missile: http://www.rbc.ru/rbcfreenews/20140717185321.shtml
The collateral damage in war outweighs any gains from any side.
World peace is not achieved by sitting idle when there is conflict, it is achieved by taking action when it's still possible to stop and prevent conflict.
It seems the world has not learned enough from the last world war, must history always be repeated?

Flightradar24 is down now
No fucking way. If this really was the rebels then I hope those shitheels get everything that comes to them.

They better find an actual An-26 to shoot down fast
If it's confirmed that rebels shot it down Russia might actually invade to ''kill rebels'' to protect further civillian casualties. And people might actually support them as well.

So you suggest that the world as a whole invades Ukraine and refuses to leave until the shooting stops?
Holy shit. Someone fucked up. Unfortunately everyone within 100 miles is blaming each other. Either way, this is fucking awful. Just like when it happened in the Gulf, a whole lot of innocent civilians just died all at once for absolutely nothing, having not known it was coming. Jesus Christ.
Wow, Malaysia Airlines just can't get a break.
Watch as everyone avoids that airline forever, despite the fact that Malaysia Airlines is no more likely than anyone to get shot down by retards with a Stinger, and (for the previous case) despite the fact that Malaysia Airlines is no more likely to have three Mohammeds on board with stolen passports.

The AN-26 happened a few days ago, and they had pictures of the small prop planned crash into ground.
So far it's definitely seeming like separatists did it. I hope they get fucked for this.
I'm give it a couple of hours until we hear that both Russian and Ukrainian forces are moving towards the borders as tension is rising because of the rumors it being shot down.

Or maybe the world should use this as a justification that the conflict is getting out of hand and that it's time for the two factions to bring a halt to warfare as now even innocents completely unrelated to the conflict have perished because of their joint stubbornness and radicalism?
No, of course not. Lets pin their heads on stakes and hang them on all the lamp posts we can come across, that'll teach these barbaric rebels and untrustworthy government forces not to fuck with the rest of the world.

That was how the UN dealt with African conflicts, no?

They claimed they shot down another one
That was how the UN dealt with African conflicts, no?
Look how most of those turned out.
