Updated numbers are in. 189 Dutch, 44 Malaysia, 27 Australia, 12 Indonesia, 9 UK, 4 Belgium, 4 Germany, 3 Philippines, 1 Canada, 1 New Zealand.
It was 28 Australians before, was that extra Australian later identified as a New Zealander?
So anyone know what a realistic worst case scenario of this could be?
Do you know what's really good at getting between satellites and things of interest? Clouds.
The CIA possesses infrared satellite technology which would allow them to easily see something like a missile's heat signature through clouds.
I wish I could buy stocks right now, because I would. They will inevitably go back up in price
Was just thinking that. Give it a few days, wait for it to reach it's lowest probable point in the valley. The company doesn't deserve to collapse because of a shitty accident (probably) of war. A lot of people have holidays planned around their flights and most are still willing to fly with them. No need for them to lose out.

The company doesn't deserve to collapse because of a shitty accident (probably) of war. A lot of people have holidays planned around their flights and most are still willing to fly with them. No need for them to lose out.
Doesn't matter if people have flights booked. The markets are more fickle than that. 1 big trader pulls out and everybody follows suit. And it doesn't take a big drop in confidence to make someone pull out, theres no interest in waiting to see if it goes bad, you pull out before anybody else to make the least loss from the situation.
So anyone know what a realistic worst case scenario of this could be?
Worst case scenario it turns out the rebels shot the plane down with Russian hardware and training. More sanctions from the US and the EU.
Very impressed with the guy that is doing the press conferences, he keeps calm and answers important questions, not dodging them.
The CIA possesses infrared satellite technology which would allow them to easily see something like a missile's heat signature through clouds.
Water is an incredibly good absorber of infrared radiation. In fact water vapour is the main contributor to the greenhouse effect in Earth's atmosphere. I'm sure cloud cover could be more than enough to obscure such an image or render it entirely invisible from above if it were thick enough. Even if they did capture anything IR itself wouldn't be proof enough of who fired the shot (unless it came from DEEP within the territory of either side).

Finding where the shot was fired from wouldn't be absolute proof, but it would increase likelihood in one direction or another. You wouldn't usually place this kind of hardware too close to enemy lines.
How many of those incidents were caused by rebels in open fighting against a recognized government. This isn't a country that killed innocent people, these are rebels.
Innocent people are dying there, from both sides. Government bombing of population centres hasn't been pretty indiscriminate.
So anyone know what a realistic worst case scenario of this could be?
NATO moves to help Ukraine against the rebels but tbh they don't really need help as long as Russia doesn't do anything directly. If by some chance Ukraine shot it down then I suppose NATO would withdraw its support staff? Maybe at a longshot remove some sanctions on Russia?
Even the fair in Tilburg (which is one of the biggest ones in the Netherlands iirc) changed it's festive opening for a minute of silence.
Do you know what's really good at getting between satellites and things of interest? Clouds.
we shld ban clouds they useless
This will probably be the end of Malaysian airlines. They lost 600 people in 3.5 months. A lot of superstitious people will flat out avoid Malay airlines and nervous fliers are likely to avoid them too. Regular informed people will most likely keep flying them but this is a serious blow, since the the first incident already pushed Malay airlines down.
no you're wrong because they will lower their ticket prices and also this was not their fault.
I wish I could buy stocks right now, because I would. They will inevitably go back up in price
imagine if you did and then it miraculously turned out that nobody shot the plane down and it was a mechanical fault

There is no way they will risk the Ukraine becoming an international pariah.

If they find out something incriminating they won't sit on it. Also heres a picture of a flightmap after the plane was shot down [t]http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/76349000/jpg/_76349447_624_ukraine-plane-close.jpg[/t]

The rebels did so much backpedaling that they could win the tour de France backwards
no you're wrong because they will lower their ticket prices and also this was not their fault.
No it isn't their fault, but they are losing a lot of stock price because of this. They can't just lower their ticket prices either, since they're already losing money. They're fucked. I think this is the second or third quarter where the airline has failed to make a profit too.
