That's definitely getting high. Being high is being in a different state of mind due to a substance, at least that's what I consider it to be.
Addicted to legal highs? What a joke. It is extremely dangerous though.
Legal highs are fucking retarded, and all my friends that have done them have had a bad time. Stick to the illegal drugs, they're safer.
Diphenhydramine is great if you like getting your fucking dick eaten off by 30000 invisible spiders
I have monstrous insomnia, and I take a small dose of diphenhydramine to help me sleep, because melatonin doesn't help me much anymore, at one point I forgot I had already taken it and doubled my dose for that night. I had the most fucked up dream about running from a killer who wore children's skin and was graduating to adults. Seriously.
Once I woke up I was so groggy for nearly the rest of the day that I couldn't function properly, like being hideously tired even though I slept for 10 HOURS DUE TO THE STUFF. Also it gave me a killer headache. Now, I don't do drugs, illegal, or otherwise, and I don't take or do anything for the purpose of getting high, but that stuff can really mess with your mind in high doses, so even if you are like me and don't actually do things to get a high from them, watch your shit because some medicines are SERIOUSLY sensitive in their doses and can really damage you. Also had bad stomach bleeding once from Naproxen for a 2 week long migraine, that stuff isn't the best thing to take either.

If you're using some sort of drug to force yourself into sleep then the quality of your sleep is going to drop, because you're essentially forcing your brain into sleepy mode where it doesn't want to be at that time, and the regular restoration processes aren't operating properly. Or at least that's how I understand it - I'm probably wrong in some way.
Have you thought about how your diet, computer/stimulation habits, etc, might be contributing to your insomnia? I think there are occasionally doctors who just throw drugs at a problem to make it go away without properly looking at potential causes within lifestyle.

Thanks for the concern, like seriously! But yes I have tried a few things. I have had this problem since I was 4, it isn't really a case of say not doing enough physical stuff during the day, or drinking and eating lots of sugary or energy stuff (I don't.) it's actually linked to a few other specific problems dealing with chronic anxiety and depression, I am essentially unable to shut my brain down, I have had weeks where I couldn't sleep for 2 or 3 days (as in not sleep AT ALL) and am still unable to sleep even though I cant keep my eyes open, or anything, but I just can't shut down, then I will finally sleep for a day, and be up for another 2.
What I am going to try is completely stop the sleep aid, just stay on my antidepressant, switch some food things (I'm quite skinny at 6'1" and 145 pounds so I could afford some more meat :v:) around and get more exercise and hope the problem is slowly tuned down slightly, but unfortunately I don't think it will ever completely go away. When you are laying in the dark without sleep for two days and feel the "sleepiness" but are still unable to "shut off" as it were it's really really screwy on your emotions and stuff too. I think it's caused me to get banned once. :v:
Spice is some fucked up shit, and no one would bother with it if the much safer real shit was legalised, but all of that goes without saying. On the upside, maybe if it's being regulated, then only the least worst ones will be sold?

You should really try getting away from all screens for a few hours before bed, and just read instead.

there are also quite safe legal highs such as radula or DXM.
edit: saying that all legal highs are bad is probably an exaggeration because I think most drugs are legal due to being undiscovered or not widely used.

That's what insomnia is, the brain doesn't go into sleep mode. For me it's become norm to go to sleep at 8-10am because I just can not sleep at any other time nomatter how hard I try. The only way I can is if I stay skip sleeping and then try to sleep at some other time, but that only works that one time and once I wake up, it's back to the regular pattern.
I'm literally nocturnal, I can't sleep at night, and if I force myself (I eventually fall asleep after 5-6 hours in bed), I only sleep for ~4 hours. :v:

Yeah, I am making a big generalisation. But the fact they are undiscovered or not widely used makes them more risky to take, if you're taking MD or smoking weed you more or less know what the effects will be, unlike with some of those legal highs as it could be more difficult to find information about them.
Yeah man pretty much just don't ever smoke this shit
No official studies have been conducted on the effects of synthetic cannabinoids on humans (as is usually the case with known toxic and/or illegal compounds)[38] However, reports describing effects seen in patients seeking medical care after taking synthetic cannabinoids have been published. Compared to marijuana and its active cannabinoid THC, the adverse effects are often much more severe and can include hypertension, tachycardia, myocardial infarction,[39] agitation, vomiting, hallucinations, psychoses, seizures, convulsions[40] and panic attacks.[41][42][43][44][45] Among individuals who need emergency treatment after using synthetic cannabis, the most common symptoms are accelerated heartbeat, high blood pressure, nausea, blurred vision, hallucination and agitation.[46] Other symptoms included epileptic seizures, acute psychosis, and heart attacks.[46]
They apparently just make a new version of the active ingredient every time it becomes illegal. There's at least 10 generations of it just on that wikipedia article.
I remember the month mkat was legal here in the uk, the few weeks everyone was off their head. Was fun

yeah that's why it's so hard to regulate them. there used to be 400 kinds available (and you could buy them in dairies lol) but they've banned tons and now there is 'only' 40 kinds.
Legal highs are fucked, don't use them. Ever.
Cousin told me to smoke it despite saying no to it a bunch of times (since I knew it was fucking garbage). In the end he wouldn't shut up, and drunk me decided to smoke it to make him shut up. First thing I noticed was how quick it hit me. I've smoked marijuana in the past, and it always takes a couple of minutes for me to feel the effect, but this synthetic stuff just hit me pretty much instantly.
Ended up puking my guts out and getting properly convinced that my cousin was mocking me behind my back. It was awful. My cousin ended up having sporadic seizures a couple weeks after that cause he smoked it so much. He's stopped since then, thankfully. I've never touched it again.
