Republican's can try all they want to seem like a better party but i'll always remember them for being like the piss stain on a clean wall in politics at the moment.
Just use ceramic/'whatever regular plates are made out of' plates you stupid gits You'll save money in the end
In our headlining story, Republicans come back from the corner-market with the wrong kind of plates: Democrats make a big stink about it. Republicans reportedly sleeping on the couch until they "learn how to listen." In other news: Libya is still listed as a missing person and China considers getting a part-time job to make up for the money that America keeps 'borrowing.'
EVERY FUCKING GOOD IDEA is shot down by the republicunts.
Since when did the dems ever have any good ideas?

Everyone eat with their hands! No waste involved whatsoever! [editline]4th March 2011[/editline] alternatively just get one of the farm animal feeder things
alternatively just get one of the farm animal feeder things
Put all the food in a trough
Why not use stainless steel utenzils and ceremic plates (like zeke said). Then you can hire people to clean it up, do the dish washing en thus creating jobs, that wasn't to hard wasn't it?

Silverware? Surely silverware is made from... Silver maybe? You mean Cutlery, right? This choice of words scares, confuses and angers me.
If they want to save money on plates and shit, whey don't they just not use plates or forks at all? They can use their ties as a plate and eat with their hands.
Stimulate the economy, use workers to wash metal cutlery.
Next on the Republican agenda of environmental retro moves? Lightbulbs. House Republicans introduced a bill last week to repeal the government's decision to phase out the old energy-inefficient bulbs, which was due to start in 2012.
I actually support this, government needs to fuck off with regulating what kind of lightbulbs manufacturers make and sell, not because I don't want energy efficient bulbs it's just that it's too far reaching frankly. Also what they currently make the energy efficient lights with isn't exactly healthy for people or the environment if it breaks, which glass does do regularly.

What a hassle.
My glass breaks on a regular basis. What a hassle.
And it's not that a big a deal with regular lightbulb's, you just clean it up and be done with it, the ones they are trying to push on everyone have mercury in them and makes a simple sweeping up of glass quite hazardous. And just so people say I'm not talking my ass about this http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7431198
Good for them.
I know you dont like democrats but a fuck everyone over as long as it means the dems also get to die isn't a good plan.
They should just make the trays and cutlery out of aluminum and run them through the wash each time they use them, to me it makes more sense than "biodegradable" materials or plastic. This move itself doesn't bother me all that much though because they said that the stuff would fall apart mid-meal, which is really frustrating and not that big of a deal to give up on. But the light bulbs? Really Republicans? Come on, this has been common knowledge for years. The only reason they would want to switch back after buying all the new equipment would be to give a big middle finger to all Democrats and environmentalists who think they deserve to have a say in what goes on in our country. Is it just me, or is the GOP becoming cartoonishly evil lately? [editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
And it's not that a big a deal with regular lightbulb's, you just clean it up and be done with it, the ones they are trying to push on everyone have mercury in them and makes a simple sweeping up of glass quite hazardous. Other than that, florescent light bulbs pretty much work better all around.
If electricity were introduced by Democrats the Republicans would stop at nothing to undo it.
The Republicans are the only literal religious followers I've ever known of to follow the phrase "to throw the baby out with the bath water" to it's literal and logical extremes. Fucking idiots the lot of em, every last one.
You people think that this is bad?? Issued to every person involved. This shit destroys forests.
I get the first two examples, but not the one I've bolded here. What makes the Republican party bad for the environment (besides the obvious topic being discussed of styrofoam cups and plastic)?
The fact they don't care at all, and as demonstrated here, will not lift a finger to help or in cases will purposely ruin the environment.
Saving $475,000 a year? Wow. I'm sure I read somewhere that members of congress get salaries of $175,000 (annual). How about cutting the salaries in half of all the congressmen?
[img_thumb]http://www.cleanenergyinsight.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/cfl_vs_id.jpg[/img_thumb]
Bullshit. I have the new bulbs at home and when they reach full power (usually after about ten fucking minutes or so) they're still not as bright as incandescent bulbs. Incandescent bulbs are brighter, faster and all-around better. They might well cost more in the long run but if that's the way things work then no-one would ever take out a loan.

How does a light bulb go faster? Fluorescent bulbs don't take 10 minutes to get bright. Second, other than the claim of brighter, how are they all-around better? That chart shows that fluorescent bulbs last longer and cost less. I'd say that's worth doing.
I remember eating in a basement cafe somewhere when I was in the Capitol. I saw like 5 senators just walk by.

[editline]x[/editline] I'd also like to know why Congress doesn't just use "real" dishes.
Im just gonna leave this here...
Remember kids: if you use styrofoam, you're a fascist!

Too far reaching. Stay out of my life, Obummer. Obama invented seatbelts to RESTRAIN the voice of the people
Washington didn't cross the Delaware on a boat made of corn starch this country was built on environmentally ruinous technology and god damn it i'm going to keep my incandescent bulbs. i'm not gonna let some chinaman leave a bigger carbon foot print than i do
