I have no faith in the next generation of consoles.
Can we stop with these rumors
Games journalism seems to revolve around who can present the most rumours in an hour.
I really hope these rumors are true because I want xbox to fall. Fuck live. Fuck their practices.
Sony was pretty shit too but their bad decisions weren't fucking over gamers and developers purposely.
You know that Sony's been thinking about adopting a same system as Xbox Live right? And how hasn't Sonys decisions been fucking over gamers and developers or did you forget that the PS3s architecture was a piece of shit to make games for and half the games released need you to install them which takes forever.
Fuckin' hell guys don't forget these are RUMORS.
Even if these are JUST rumors, from the way the 360 is going, and microsoft in general, I don't have high hopes for the next Xbox.
guess i'm getting a ps4. sorry halo 5.
Don't apologize, after Halo 4, they don't deserve it.

Do you have a source for the Xbox live bit or is that yet another baseless rumour? And the PS3 architecture has also contributed to some of the best exclusives for the PS3, it just took some time to get there.
second gaming crash soon
I hope all the above is true I hate everything Microsoft has done so far. Not to mention no halo 3 on pc.
I honestly don't know why people are so pissed off about no second-hand games. Or well, I understand why they would be, but why are people not pissed off about steam then? Valve is all kinds of awesome, but Steam is, however good a platform it may be, DRM as well as a download client. Sure, they throw sales around like they don't care, but it's still DRM.
I honestly haven't bought a used game in I don't know how long time, and while it sucks that you can't just go over to your friends house and play Battlefront 3 on his new Xbox 720, you can't do that with your Steam games either. I mean, yeah, you could log in with your profile and download it (or just copy the files over), but unless Microsoft ties the account to the Xbox itself (which I doubt really fucking much), you could do precisely the same in this case.
And this is assuming that Microsoft goes ahead with this, which I doubt quite a lot. There was a guy who faked a rumour by sending an - well, very believable - email about the supposed specs of the Xbox 720. Within an hour, it had been posted on a site, and it spread like wildfire - they had absolutely no reason to believe the legitimacy of the guy, but because it didn't sound too far out, they reported it all the same. And what about all the game stores? They make big bucks on buying and selling used games, and I don't think they'd be too pleased with the decision. And didn't we get this story about the PS4 as well?
Seriously, let's just chill out until it's actually unveiled.

Actually valve has been taking steps to fix this. Since about 2010 every downloadable game, even the valve ones, install to the common directory which steam will pull from for any client logged in on the computer assuming that account owns the game.
Ouch. As much as I like Halo, it's not worth this. :(

Counter-arguing yourself, what's your point then?

I read it first on Eurogamer but now I can't find the damn article Kotaku has http://kotaku.com/5985356/source-the-ps4-will-be-out-this-november-and-youll-be-able-to-control-it-with-your-phone but it's only a brief mention in the middle.

The thing is steam has sales of like 75% so you can get your games cheaper than you would second hand anyway. Retail shops never have sales on games unless they're over 5 years old and even then they still cost double of the average price of the games i buy on steam. I bet they're going to bump up the retail price to like £50/$75 to take advantage of the fact they don't have to compete with places like CeX anymore
Counter-arguing yourself, what's your point then?
Can you point exactly to where I'm counter-arguing myself? I'm saying Steam and consoles are equal offenders in this case, I don't see how that an argument against my point that, well, Steam is DRM and doing exactly what people are getting mad about?

As I stated in my post, Valve is all kinds of awesome, and I really don't have a problem with Steam.
But sales don't make up for the "I can't sell my own property". 'Cause that's what it is. Valve is kinda in a hard spot, because they're providing the download, but you still bought the game and you should be able to do whatever you want with it, no matter whether you bought it on a sale or not.

"Orbis is also following the path first set by Xbox Live: our source says"
how is that not a baseless rumour
EFFFF microsoft. I really hope this isn't true or atleast some of it, or most of it, but hopefully all of it. Ive put microsoft above sony for soooo many years. If this happens looks like ill be getn a ps4 and not the new xbox. Damn shame.
Or the new steambox. But lets face it thats just a pc that runs steam with a controller.
Given the fact that PS4 is going to be backwards compatible, not restrict you from using (Or renting for that matter) used games, and being able to play it while offline
Why does Microsoft think they're going to be competitive with the horse shit loops they're imposing? I preferred an Xbox over a PS2, and a 360 over a PS3, but there's not a fucking chance I'm getting the new Xbox and not a PS4 if they're doing this
PS4 is not backwards compatable, no clue where you got that from
Their plan is to make it so you can either stream/emulate older games onto it, but that doesn't make it backwards compatable - you need to rebuy said games via the PSN (i.e. no putting in a PS3 disc and expecting it to work)
second gaming crash soon
That actually a surprisingly common assumption.
second gaming crash soon
Even though it's a possibility, I don't think it will happen. People learnt from what happened last time around
If these rumours are true then the PS4 will fuck microsoft's shit up. The Kinect was given a lot of opportunity to prove itself given how much time developers have had to do something with it yet the best thing they've managed to do with it is dance central. Part of me kind of hopes there is a second gaming crash because it would likely be localised to consoles, making them wake up and stop stupid shit like pay2win, DRM and shitting out cod and cod-clones every year.
second gaming crash soon
There is no way that is happening. Gaming's getting better and better, there is no reason why it would happen again. The last time it happened because the market was flooded by bad games and people were afraid to buy new games.
Even though the market is being flooded by CoDs and Maddens nobody who buys them is actually disappointed. They are getting exactly what the want.
And for everyone else there are amazing AAA games coming out in many genres (even though there are some really bad ones too) and then there is the whole indie scene pumping out new, awesome, innovative games all the time.

1. This is a stupid rumor. The same rumors where spread about the PS4 and how many of them actually were true? (hint: the number is lower than 1)
2. Pay2win is mostly a problem in F2P games and has been getting a lot better recently and the console market crashing would only mean less awesome AAA games and more shitty p2w games on PC.
3. DRM has been getting better too. Remember Ubisoft's always-on DRM for instance?
