The first couple pages of this thread are so perfect. I wish I could just send fools to Facepunch when shit like this comes up in person.
How the hell haven't you people murdered each other with bullshit like this
In the end the vast majority of these people probably just want to feel like they're doing something with their lives.
The more recent generations were brought up thinking they'll take over the world and everyone can become an actor sports star astronaut president, and when those dreams are dashed they look for other ways to feel like their lives have meaning.
I think it's more that we hear so much of MLK Jr. and the Black Civil Rights movement that people grow up wanting to do the same with LGBT
gain power for what? try to make life easier for disfranchised people? yeah.
make life tougher for people who are a majority? no.
By make life better for disenfranchised people?
Okay, yeah, I'll go and free all of our chained slaved from the labour camps, I'll go and free all our disenfranchised masses and be their saviour.
Oh wait, we don't have any disenfranchised masses here in the UK, not to mention, we're one of the most equal nations on Earth.

Get the fuck outta my face buddy, coming at me with your disenfranchised masses wank pal.
This shit in university is a waste of time, if you want to do it in the US then go nuts but don't project your weird societal issues on us.
Following the legalisation of same-sex marriage last year, Scotland now meets 92% of the criteria, compared to 86% for the UK as a whole.
WELCOME TO THE UK, ONE OF THE MOST SOCIALLY EQUAL NATIONS ON EARTH, FALL TO YOUR KNEES AND WEEP SHITLORDS.
it isn't (or ever) a contest lol
it isn't (or ever) a contest lol
Of course it isn't, it never is when you're losing the argument.
Of course it isn't, it never is when you're losing the argument.
the only real impression i'm getting is that you have some paranoid fear of having the status quo trampled fully, but alright i guess
And I'd take yours more seriously if you didn't come off as a giant asshat everytime you post about stuff like this, no offense
i'm deeply sorry that i want to be treated like a responsible adult without having someone yell at me?
the only real impression i'm getting is that you have some paranoid fear of having the status quo trampled fully, but alright i guess
Yes fellow american, inform this british shitlord that all the problems in the USA are projected everywhere in europe too! Clearly you know more about his country and its culture than he does.
Yes fellow american, inform this british shitlord that all the problems in the USA are projected everywhere in europe too! Clearly you know more about his country and its culture than he does.
that's not my argument?
the only real impression i'm getting is that you have some paranoid fear of having the status quo trampled fully, but alright i guess
You said and I quote;
gain power for what? try to make life easier for disfranchised people? yeah.
make life tougher for people who are a majority? no.
So I implore you to find me the disenfranchised masses within British Universities, and I would also like to point out that the Status Quo has in fact changed recently in favour of women well over men.
http://www.bbc.com/news/education-30537561
The number of UK university entrants passed 500,000 for the first time in 2014, with women a third more likely to enter higher education than men, Ucas admissions service figures show.
Among 18-year-olds, 34% of women were allocated university places, compared with 26% of men, the widest ever gap.

The Ucas figures show women are much more likely to enter university than men. This applies to both rich and poor families and across almost all regions.
According to Ucas, two decades ago there was no gender gap, but this has now become one of the most distinctive features of applications.
While 26% of men go to university, in some constituencies the male entry rates are much lower - in Bristol South it is only 11% of 18-year-olds.
But hey whatever I'm just paranoid right?
Oh yeah, those are the disenfranchised masses.
that's not my argument?
Your argument is fundamentally wrong though so I don't know why you keep banging on about it.
that's not my argument?
Then perhaps you should reword it or something because its painfully apparent that myself and other posters are getting the impression that you think all of the west is as far behind as the US when you accuse them of trying to defend some sort of white straight mans status quo.
at this rate, my only real question is why you think there's an inherent issue in women being able to attend uni/college at a much more comfortable and smooth rate because that's what that news article is about.
at this rate, my only real question is why you think there's an inherent issue in women being able to attend uni/college at a much more comfortable and smooth rate because that's what that news article is about.
Why do you think there are obstacles to that, especially when I've proven it wrong 1 post ago?

Women are consistently being favoured for university places and you are still banging on about women having a hard time getting into uni, like seriously man, what fucking drugs are you smoking?
Or were you maybe lobotimised with an industrial sand blaster?
what are the causes of men having less motivation to attend higher ed in this situation? is it health rated? income related? please show these out to me - i'm serious. i'm sure you can do this without being a melodramatic wreck.
i'm deeply sorry that i want to be treated like a responsible adult without having someone yell at me?
are you for real
your entire schtick as a poster is that you enter threads like this, make deliberately inflammatory posts and then spend the rest of the thread asking? rhetorical? questions? and being all 'woe is me why is everyone misinterpreting my argument and attacking me!' when everyone else calls you out for your garbage.
next time cut out step 1 of taking a shit in the thread and then maybe you won't have pages of people calling you a clown and taking you to task about your dreadful post in the first place

Most likely economic since Uni costs a bomb and puts a shit ton of people in debt and also because a lot of families in the UK don't have much cash.
It is well known that many children on free school meals in England do much worse in school than their classmates who are not. They often start school with lower skills than other children and many never catch up.
A lesser-known fact is that among these, white British boys do worse than any other main group.
Just over a third of teenagers on free school meals get five good GCSEs including maths and English; the national average is 58%. Among poor white boys, just a quarter make that grade, closing the door to A-levels and university for many.
alright, but how does one's financial situation tie into activist groups at schools?
alright, but how does one's financial situation tie into activist groups at schools?
Because I fail to see how women are hard done by when they're having an easier time getting into and remaining in higher education when guys are dropping out more frequently and applying to courses less and less.
Oh yeah and the part where despite guys being more and more disadvantaged in this respect that they are still invoked as the butt of jokes and as some villainous spectre by these groups, despite as I've proven multiple times that they're the ones getting the shaft the hardest.
i agree with the fact that student acceptance shouldn't have any bizarre ties to it but i still fail to see how fringe minority groups have any impact on this
nvm thank u swebonny ur the best
alright, but how does one's financial situation tie into activist groups at schools?
It doesn't really. Those sort of groups would be focusing on things like gender, racial, potentially religious densities. It would be quite rare for them to bring up economic discussions that focus on the UK populous.

Man can you just get permaed again. Its like you marked Garrys birthday on your calender and the second all the unbans happened you came straight back to SH with mass shitposting, shit arguments, sassy attitude, and being really really huffy. Not even a day has passed.

I've honestly kind of missed this kind of shitstorm.
Now if only we can get Max and milkandcooki back into some GG threads
Maybe they should stop hurling it like a fucking insult then, cause technically faggot is also a descriptive term.

"Nip" is short for "Nippon" and is meant to mean people from the island of Japan. It is contrasted by things like "Brit" and "Aussie."
"Nip" is not an insult, it's a descriptive word.
Holy shit you guys are retarded. I can't believe I have to defend SJWs (who I fucking hate) on this but cisgender is a real word. Oxford Dictionary: "Denoting or relating to a person whose self-identity conforms with the gender that corresponds to their biological sex; not transgender:"
Oh boo-fucking-hoo, someone used it as part of an insult. Be sure to be on the lookout for:
- male scum
- het scum
- white scum
- any variation of these: for example, I am cishet white male scum
And yet "white", "male", and "hetero" are not insults. Neither are "black", "asian", "tall", or "deaf". If you're using any of these as an insult, you are a discriminatory idiot and should go fuck yourself.
It seems strange to use it for sex when "cis" means "the same/same side". That implies they are attracted to the same sex.
Remember that "cisgender" doesn't reflect on your sexuality, only your gender/sex. So in that context "same side" makes sense. You can be cisgendered but also gay, meaning for example you were born a man, you identify as a man, but you like other men.

Max got unbanned recently so you can pretty much count on it. Looking forward to reading his raving lunacy again, it was highly entertaining.
I'm willing to bet that at one point nigger was also in the Oxford dictionary as an acceptable word to use for black people. It doesn't mean squat.

this would have been a very good post if you hadn't included

like besides that I totally agree with you

please tell me you aren't comparing a racist slur to a term that's used to describe someone whose comfortable with their gender assigned at birth lol

At one point it wasn't a racist slur, it was and still is the Latin word for black or dark

please, please tell me the details of what you're trying to get at. are you trying to suggest that cis has lost its place in the english language, or that it doesn't matter what it means?
please, please tell me the details of what you're trying to get at. are you trying to suggest that cis has lost its place in the english language, or that it doesn't matter what it means?
Look, dude, all we're saying is that there are people who use 'cis' as an insult. Of course it's a real word, almost all racial slurs are real words too. Being a real word doesn't mean it can't be offensive. From what I've seen, and I'm willing to accept that I may be misinterpreting you, your argument is that cis is a word in the dictionary, therefore we shouldn't be upset about it/it has no offensive connotations, which is just flat-out wrong.
