Google Chrome now the most popular browser in the world
yay! Time to start using HTML5 and CSS3 more often!
HTML5 is quite buggy in its early stages I've noticed, Youtube is the least cooperative website I use, only flash videos work like they're supposed to... most of the time.
HTML5 is just being a bitch. Doesn't mean it can't be great with some work though.
The truly depressing thing about that chart in the OP isn't that Opera is at the very bottom, (although it is kinda surprising) but rather the fact that Safari has a percentage at all. That piece of shit is the worst browser ever. Far worse than Opera. The only reason it has any users at all is because people are too dumb to get newer browsers.
It's true, Safari is like the old versions of IE for PC.
I'd use it, but I think I changed from GC to FF because it was having some compatibility problems and slowing everything down.
Firefox sometimes has a stroke, but quickly gets back on its feet so I'm good.

Except at least Safari doesn't defy web standards like IE did..
Safari and Chrome both use the same rendering engine, so for the most part they should act the same when it comes to actual browsing.
Chrome has a better interface, extension support, and..well, general everything in my opinion though :v:
Posting on google chrome. Great fucking browser. If you haven't used it, give it a whirl. Its fucking fast and sleek. Very easy to use. Grats google, you fucking earned it.
First attempt at using chrome since the beta, it threw every single bookmark into the bookmark toolbar, and there's numerous visual bugs in the bookmark manager (moving multiple bookmarks, deleting bookmarks makes it look like the wrong one was deleted etc) :v:
I use FF, but I've used Chrome several times and it's a very nice alternative.
Firefox master race.
I was done with Firefox after it just bloody stopped working one day.
i would click on the exe and nothing would happen.
What specifically, is wrong with Safari?
Also I'm sure I'm sure if they took into account mobile browser use Safari's percentage would be a lot higher.
Safari, at least the versions I have used, which are few and far between, opens every link in a new window. Not a new tab. A new goddamn window every fucking time you click a link. To open tabs, you actually have to go into their edit bar and open up a tab, and it still opens links in new windows. It is so very irritating.
i remember installing the beta of this and crashing on every single youtube video I played. however I didn't stop using it...
Bravo Google Chrome! :)
I think I'll start using Chrome a bit more and give it a chance. Just out of curoisity.
I've been using Firefox for years. I made the switch to Chrome as a test to see if it would fix some of the problems I was having with FF.
It runs (and I'm not exaggerating here) 5 times faster than Firefox in my opinion, and it's just...smooth.
Wonderful browser.
It already is. It may not feel like it on a 4G machine, but when you're trying to play things like Minecraft and use Chrome at the same time on a 2G machine, it's bad.
Thing is, I can do that fine with Midori, with less than 10% the memory usage.
chrome is bloated because it slows down when you play a resource hogging Java game?
lmao
Depressing how low Opera's count is when it came up with so many fantastic features that keep being copied in other browsers. I'm thinking of switching to chrome though, because even though it MAJORLY turned me off with that whole legal dispute ("all things you upload are property of google" or something of the sort), it has the highest percentage of features I use Opera for and nobody ever supports Opera.
EDIT: what the fuck, you can get From Dust for google chrome?
what?
I find myself switching between various browsers just to try something new every once in a while. I get the feeling that eventually things will more or less level off with each major browser holding a large market share. As good as Chrome is, I would still rather it not turn into another browser ala IE circa 1997, wherein Google calls the shots on new standards and whatnot.
It will be interesting to see what happens with windows 8, due to essentially windows 8 being the only browser that will be capable of low level API access so far as I can tell is IE10.
My father was adamant IE was the most popular browser, lets see what he thinks of this!
It was....
I still prefer Firefox, and don't plan on switching off it in the future. But I am happy that IE, at least, isn't the most popular anymore. Maybe people are finally becoming more educated on this, a nice step in the right direction.
Also lol@Opera on the chart.
I use Chrome for my porn. Good on you Chrome!
Hahah internet explorer is now the most popular browser again according to the statcounter website in the source :v:

Incognito > firefox private browsing.
Firefox culls all of your open tabs and gives you a private session.
Chrome opens a new porn safe window while preserving the other incase you need to hop back quickly.

I have no idea why Safari defaults into opening links in new windows instead of a new tab, but you can very easily change that by going to the settings.
Other than that Safari works just as well or better than any other browser I've used, Chrome is only slightly faster. The only thing that could really be better is the extension support, it seems like there aren't nearly as many extensions for Safari as there are for Firefox/Chrome, but that doesn't make it 'bad' browser.
Using FF simply for the fact it isn't Google.
I think I use too many Google services as it is. Last thing I need is for them to know everything about my browsing habits and actions. (If they aren't already with tracking cookies)
Perhaps the only reason I would think to switch is that Firefox consumes an unearthly amount of memory
Yes because they care so much about all the important stuff you do.

This, I hate firefox's private browsing mode and even InPrivate for IE in that matter.
Who thought it'd be an excellent idea to not allow any normal windows and have you set in that box until you click to go back.
I may use Firefox for the extensions I have, but I'll give Chrome kudos for it's blazing speed and ease of use. I install it on any client's computer if they want a change from IE.
Firefox is done with, I can't even access any sites at all, even google.
I use Firefox and switch to Google Chrome whenever it has a problem with a site (usually just cloudflare with it's anti-virus captcha verifying page which always fucks up for some reason)
I just really dislike Chrome's interface. Sadly Firefox is imitating it more and more.
Firefox is done with, I can't even access any sites at all, even google.
That's a problem on your end, not Firefox.
Tried all the main browsers out there, IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.
I find chrome to be the fastest, most stable and cleanest.
Surprisingly firefox was one of the least stable i have used, making my PC and laptop have to do resets because it would lock up the system.
IE is still the least stable, even with IE 9, my dad is convinced IE is the fastest and most secure though
Chrome Represent!

They kinda do though, the non-standard stuff in Chrome/Safari is so prevalent that Microsoft/Mozilla/Opera are now having to make their browsers read the non-standard stuff WebKit implements so that sites still render properly.
Only reason I'm not using Chrome is because it doesn't have a dropdown URL address bar - that i know of at least. Someone enlighten me?
