[editline]21st May 2012[/editline] what?
Yeah, that happened. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2008/09/google-on-chrome-eula-controversy-our-bad-well-change-it/
Reading through this thread has made me seriously consider switching from Firefox to Chrome. My only concern is: are there any addons or plugins or whatever that are the equivalent of Firefox's NoScript and AdBlockPlus? I don't think I could live without NoScript. :v:

Unsure about noscript.
Can anyone explain to me why chrome always must have 20 processes open?
each tab and addon = 1 process this way if an addon or tab crashes, the whole browser does not
I love chrome but it's been acting up on me again IE being slow as fuck. Does this every now and then, thats why I use both FF and chrome.
I'd use chrome if it didn't have 300 processes.
Only reason I'm not using Chrome is because it doesn't have a dropdown URL address bar - that i know of at least. Someone enlighten me?
I believe that's mainly because you type the first letter or two of a popular site and it'll pop up. Would be nice to have for recently viewed sites though.
Chrome having a lot of processes running is actually one of it's features, believe it or not. It's so that if ANYTHING goes wrong, say for example a plugin crashes, your browser still works. Also, if a website tries to exploit your computer, and ends up crashing your tab, it's just that. A dead tab. The browser is still fine and dandy.
Hahah internet explorer is now the most popular browser again according to the statcounter website in the source :v:
time to close thread then? xD old news is old
I've been using Chrome since the first public release. I've seen it become what it has become today. What a journey.
Yeah, that happened. Users could simply download the source code, compile it themselves, and use it without having to agree to Google's EULA. The terms of the BSD license under which the source code is distributed are highly permissive and impose virtually no conditions or requirements on end users.
why would you care about this at all? and i assume you don't use ANY google products if this is an issue, considering all google products/services EULAs include these terms
time to close thread then? xD old news is old
No. There's just been a spike of people reinstalling windows, most likely just a session of downloading another browser :v:. On a serious note IE isn't that bad as it was before.
I used to use Firefox for a pretty long time, but then I realized Opera is a lot more functional. But now I use Chrome more since I share my PC with my sister who uses Opera. It really deserves more users.
I also feel that these browser statistics are faulty. What about people using more than one? What about people forced to use IE? What about people who only use a browser because their main one is messed up right now?
the fun part is that the reason IE is considered so insecure is because it had been the most popular browser up until now, and all the exploits that anyone knew about were all for IE. besides that, IE9 is better than any version of chrome. I still say Firefox is still reigning king, and will be for quite a long time.
I was forced to use rockmelt for a couple of days It's identical to google chrome but it has social networking intergrated, what gives
IE GOES DOWN :D
I personally prefer Firefox. ...Or at least I did when flash worked with it.
Meanwhile nothing changes for Opera. :(
I personally prefer Firefox. ...Or at least I did when flash worked with it.
I haven't had any issues with flash and firefox ever.
I'd use chrome if it didn't have 300 processes.
Okay, go and use Firefox, when it inevitably has a massive stroke you can watch all of your tabs and the entire browser crash in one go. (at least it will stop it pissing memory away)
Well deserved. The only reason I still use firefox is because the firefox version of adblock works much better for me.

(at least it will stop it pissing memory away)
I don't get how people have so many crashes in browsers, are you guys using nightly/development builds or something? (I've had a fair bit of crashes in the Firefox nightlies, but I've had the same amount in Chromium builds) The last time a release build of Firefox crashed for me was back in 2010, and that was a Flash issue.

I put up with Firefox for years, back in 2004 it was the best browser you could get, it was incredible. But it has slowly turned to shit over the years and I'm glad I bailed when I did.
I'd use chrome if it didn't have 300 processes.
It only has as many processes as you make it.
Firefox couldn't handle 300+ tabs, so I changed to Chrome. After losing them four times due to shitty crash-recovery, I try to keep it under 50. Still using Chrome though, better than Firefox, even with the terribad crash recovery.
Meanwhile nothing changes for Opera. :(
The Opera 12 update should have some juicy things.
Interesting considering IE9 is actually a very good browser, although I guess IE9 was too late and it was inevitable anyways. Regardless, this is good news and should hopefully push Microsoft and Mozilla to innovate their browsers further.
I wonder if Opera Mobile & Mini have more users than the desktop version. I know for a fact they've got quite a hold on the Android market.
