yeah aside from that whole bit about american soldiers
Psy is a really down to Earth person.
fancy talk for "extremely dull".
Because Swans aren't mainstream in anyway.
So really your question is dumb.
they're mainstream in terms of Musical criticism and appreciation, like everyone I know who is properly into music listens to or has listened to Swans, regardless of what their preferred genre is
fancy talk for "extremely dull".
I didn't know being a sensible human being was considered "extremely dull".
Well, I guess it sort of is, but I wouldn't say that's a terrible quality in a person. I would rather hang out with someone that's a little dull than someone who thought they were God's gift to mankind.
He's smart, but remember he's not just doing this for your sake. He is still another k-pop star that has been in the industry for years upon years and has a massive marketing company behind him informing his every decision. It'll be interesting to see how they proceed, for sure. I wouldn't say he is "down to earth" as so much as he is try to avoid the mistakes of the countless american pop groups with one hit wonders of the past.
Not a marketing company, a GOOD marketing company.

i have bad news
i have bad news
In hindsight I realized that, which is why I edited my post. :v:
being a sensible human being.
I'm not sure how "downplaying" popularity is supposed to make him out as some kind of "wonderful, innocent" person.

That's not what he said...holy shit have most of you lost the ability to comprehend posts recently or were you always this brain dead?
He said "down to earth", not "wonderful, innocent". As in, Psy doesn't let the popularity go to his head in public, he doesn't do stupid stunts for attention, his life is still pretty private in the west. He's appeared on a few chat shows, done a few big gigs and performed at an awards show or two. That's all we really hear about him, he doesn't make a deal out of it.
Was that really so hard to understand?
That's not what he said...holy shit have most of you lost the ability to comprehend posts recently or were you always this brain dead?

I was making a separate point, half wit.

Then why is he "retiring" Gangnam style?
And why has there been countless repetitive news stories about whatever he's doing.

ummm wow whats with the flaming
Idunno, I thought the performance was nifty.
Then why is he "retiring" Gangnam style?
And why has there been countless repetitive news stories about whatever he's doing.
He has said before that he has gotten tired of people constantly bring it up to him, asking him to perform it for them or show them how to do the dance, those kinds of things. Hell, we had an article about it a month or so ago. Basically, he wants to go on and do other things and be known as more than just "The guy who did Gangnam Style."
As for news stories, the media always makes a big deal out of anything a pop culture icon does. Shit, we had an article about Tom Cruise going and eating curry at an Indian restaurant when he specifically asked that he be left alone to just enjoy his meal.

he's not much of a realist i'm taking it. :v:
he's not much of a realist i'm taking it. :v:
Can't blame him for trying.
people that bitch about being one hit wonders are obnoxious
at least they made ONE wonder which already something to be fuckin proud of (and cash in on)
go make other things without saying UGH ENOUGH (insert highly profitable/popular song here)
some people feel like the ability to beat their own records is more important than the popularity/money they get from whatever it is they do, and there's a terrible feeling that comes from the fact that no matter how much effort or hard work they may put into the future, it will never even come close to that one time they were just lucky.
It's as much a blessing as it is a curse to some people.
(while it could be said "well they're rich, at this point why even give a fuck?" it's still not a valid excuse to say they're obnoxious. )
Don't worry, we'll always have Tunak Tunak for our crazy foreigner antics fix:

Wow I just saw that the video broke 1.1Billion.
It's still going...
On the topic of one hit wonders, if you're a passionate artist/musician then it's really bad to be famous for only one song and nothing else. I am a beginner artist and if one of my drawings/paintings was super famous and no one would give a shit about my other works I'd get pretty sad. Sure money is cool and all, but when everyone likes one of your works for being mainstream, that's not a good feeling for an artist.
Because Swans aren't mainstream in anyway.

There's mainstream and then there's mainstream. Just like there's Pop and there's pop.
My roommate and his friends went to see Psy live at some mall close to our city. They apparently found out he lip sings. Psy came on stage singing only to have the song cut 10 seconds in along with the vocals.
i'm just wondering why Swans didn't have the top song this year considering The Seer is 1000 times greater than Gangnam Style *objective facts*
Ok this thread isn't here for you to boast about your personal taste in music bro
It's dumb to seriously expect a song like that to hit high in the charts anyway
it's just a summery pop song with an eye-catching video
lyrics are pretty much irrelevant to any song, especially a viral one like this one

holy shit a pop singer lip syncs I don't understand anything anymore

From the videos I've seen he does sing, but with the original vocals in the background. So you get double vocals, sometimes the prerecorded ones are a bit louder.
1: the seer is terrible

oh my

Lip synching pop songs is pretty much standard practice at this point, especially if they are dancing on stage.
1: the seer is terrible
Nah.
The Seer owns.
Lip synching pop songs is pretty much standard practice at this point, especially if they are dancing on stage.
Which is why I don't visit paid pop concerts. I would feel ripped off for a lipsynced performance.

you're saying that as if it's a good thing.
