and that the pepper spray got to it [the fetus], too."
Huh?
personally, i think it's a terrible thing to have happened, but until we know the complete circumstances and truth around it i don't think anyone can suggest a reasonable punishment if it turns out that she was obviously pregnant and the cops deliberately kicked her in the stomach, then that is incredibly bad and they should be severely punished, but i seriously doubt that is the case according to this image 3 months doesn't give you that much of a noticeable bump, and when dealing with a group of protesters i doubt they would have noticed a slight bump of hers kicking protesters in the stomach is always a bad call (in my opinion) but how do we know for definite that's what happened? there's physical evidence of the pepper spray, but (whilst i am no doctor) i doubt that would have cause a miscarriage and even with *all* of this taken into account, like i said before, murder implies it was premeditated. these cops did not plan to hurt this baby, let alone kill it. in fact, i doubt they even knew of it's existence. she's lost her child and that is a terrible thing to have happened, but until everything that happened is known for sure i don't think it's right to throw out harsh accusations to these police officers. manslaughter seems more fitting, but even so i still want to see solid proof.
Well, she did say she was screaming that she was pregnant and to let her through and they kicked her. So they were informed. Instead of grabbing her nice and calmly and asking if she need help or an escort out of the crowd. Sounds to me more like the cop was being a jerk. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
that sounds like BS to me what if the mother accidentally falls down the stairs and miscarries as a result. according to what you've just said she's now a murderer. which is definitely not right. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline] and i'm not talking morally right, i just mean using your common sense
It is a big difference if it is an accident like that, but an accident like this, it was a dilebirate abuse of power by the officer.
I'm sorry, but WHAT.
She looked like a generic hippy dreadlock woman, you know how they do~
She looked like a generic hippy dreadlock woman, you know how they do~
Generic hippie dreadlock people and their silly names like, Sprinting deer Running waterful. Wait...that's native americans...
And the argument of why she was at the protest whilst pregnant.
All of this assuming the story is, in fact, true. I wanted to find more sources last night, but I passed out. I assume the Guardian would not pick up the story without trying to find SOME proof. Either way, we can agree that this woman should not have been hit at all in the first place, whether she miscarried because of it or not.
and like it's already been said several times, how was an officer supposed to hear her over the screaming and shouting of the other protesters?
This is.. debatable I suppose. I would just imagine the lady that looks severly worried/paniced screaming isn't very threatening in comparison to others in the crowd. And it doesn't say that the crowd was rioting or screaming so. I'm not quite sure. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
All of this assuming the story is, in fact, true. I wanted to find more sources last night, but I passed out.
Everytime I hear about that sort of shit from the US police, I draw a new line of stuff they WOULD NEVER do. And they keep crossing it. What's next, cavity searching random people with their cocks and them moving on to children? Seriously, at this rate I have no Idea what will be next.
Fun Fact: The police once cavitysearched a woman who had done nothing wrong. And made her pay for the doctor who performed the cavity search.
Fun Fact: The police once cavitysearched a woman who had done nothing wrong. And made her pay for the doctor who performed the cavity search.
Probably cause they noticed that she turned on. Sexual plessure isn't free.
what an idiot. obviously this is a sign that america-haters are just wasting their time. that baby was gonna probably be neglected and taught to be an al-qaeda anyway, so this is a good thing. flame me all you want, im right
you forgot the part where he bails the thread to go party on a yacht and enjoy his fabulous life he apparently has fag nerds this is the absolute worst story i've heard i really can't believe this could even happen, i hope the media has enough decency to report on this honestly and without any spin
This is.. debatable I suppose. I would just imagine the lady that looks severly worried/paniced screaming isn't very threatening in comparison to others in the crowd. I'm not quite sure.
would you not be worried/panicked when at a supposedly peaceful protest police start spraying people with pepper spray? you know what she should have done? she should have carried a big red placard with a downwards pointing arrow saying "PREGNANT WOMAN HERE" so that police would have known she was pregnant. i think you're severely underestimating how difficult it would have been to the officers to pick her out as being any different to anyone else in that crowd. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
Probably cause they noticed that she turned on. Sexual plessure isn't free.
uh okay. i thought you could at least hold a decent discussion but now i'm having my doubts.
Why so much police violence lately? Do protesters really look that threatening?
would you not be worried/panicked when at a supposedly peaceful protest police start spraying people with pepper spray? you know what she should have done? she should have carried a big red placard with a downwards pointing arrow saying "PREGNANT WOMAN HERE" so that police would have known she was pregnant. i think you're severely underestimating how difficult it would have been to the officers to pick her out as being any different to anyone else in that crowd. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline] uh okay. i thought you could at least hold a decent discussion but now i'm having my doubts.
Which is why earlier we were talking about police needing to be trained on how to approach crowd situations, because it was grown apparent they do not know how to pick out who is a threat. It's not a riot so not everyone should be a target on the police. I understand when they pepper spray people that come at the with weapons, it says she simply tried to break out of the crowd. Why would the hit someone pack into the crowd then pepper spray them. Sorry, I couldn't help but make a stupid joke. We all have our moments.
Probably cause they noticed that she turned on. Sexual plessure isn't free.
Not even mildly funny.
would you not be worried/panicked when at a supposedly peaceful protest police start spraying people with pepper spray? you know what she should have done? she should have carried a big red placard with a downwards pointing arrow saying "PREGNANT WOMAN HERE" so that police would have known she was pregnant. i think you're severely underestimating how difficult it would have been to the officers to pick her out as being any different to anyone else in that crowd.
We get it, it obviously wasn't murder. That doesn't mean they aren't deserving of at least involuntary manslaughter though.
Not even mildly funny.
You have to be able to laugh at serious situations. I'm sorry that the ladies privacy was breached and her rights violated. And I'm even more sorry she was forced to pay when if anyone was to pay it should of been the police department. It was a joke, and it was bad. I understand.
You have to be able to laugh at serious situations.
And why is that? So you laugh when someone gets hit by a policeman and has a miscarriage? I don't know, seems weird to me.
It was just, Too low a blow in too serious a discussion.
I know I know. And I apologized. My mother was actually strip searched at an airport by..uh I forgot the name of the Agency that takes care of airport and flight security. She felt violated and hated it. But in the end she ended up laughing at it because of how stupid it was. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
And why is that?
That doesn't mean they aren't deserving of at least involuntary manslaughter though.
is that not what i said..?
is that not what i said..?
I believe it was just lost in translation.
Kill the police, Kill the Goverment, Kill the world. Humanity is lost, and father is sad.
is that not what i said..?
Yes, and I agree
I know I know. And I apologized. My mother was actually strip searched at an airport by..uh I forgot the name of the Agency that takes care of airport and flight security.
if that happen to my future wife carrying my child... I will fucking kill the cop... literately the most bloodiest way possible and bathe in his blood... this is so fucking beyond the line. edit: now the people who voted me dumb are either stupid or retarded. Let see how you guys like it if this child was yours and a corrupted officer forcefully cause a miscarriage...
No, see, there is a process you know, for non-vigilantes, in which people get charged with crimes and that should be used, not some blind fury. And you would be no match to a police officer anyway, face it.
Greatest contry in the world, hello, I have a question; Why is nothing done about these fucking pigs?
Sorry, you must have us confused for someone else. We're better off than alot of people in many regards, but we're by no means the greatest country in the world. We're fucked up, and noone with any power or authority seems to be in any particular hurry to set shit straight.
and like it's already been said several times, how was an officer supposed to hear her over the screaming and shouting of the other protesters?
Facepunch has always had that "black and white mentality" there are no such things as shades of grey. Police are not allowed to be human and make errors, instead they should be robo-cops. Facepunch can always do better then then the police or anyone else because they're masters of the universe and have ultimate control over their own bodies and emotions.
Has anything happened to the bad cops at all? I have read several stories about this but I haven't really seen anything being done about it.
*snip* Read that as "has anything BAD happened to the cops", my bad.
