Met Police Commissioner unveils plans to employ one non-white officer with every white officer to er

I'm from Northern Ireland and it is definitely still discrimination, it shouldn't matter if they're Protestant, catholic, black, white or a fucking elephant it should be based on their ability to preform well as an officer of the law
Why not just switch places with the NYPD for a week? Britons will get to see what real racist cops are like, and the Met will also quickly learn why American cops have guns. It's a win-win.

Yeah, I'm joking for wanting to give minorities a chance.
Quotas and stuff are lame because they try to fix problems by approaching the symptoms rather than the causes
Why don't they just have a white police force and a non white police force and they can each have their own half of town. It seems like true equality to me. Whether it's a good idea is something else.

Separating people based on race sounds like a really bad idea

The one black dude in this photo's really resonating that "why the fuck did I sign up for this bollocks" aesthetic.
Also why does the male uniform hat look so dumb compared to the female uniform
There's an issue of them doing this and looking past applications on people who literally can't speak english but because they're minorities, they're forced to hire them to meet quotas.
I suspect the force is suddenly going to be understaffed.
how about we combat racism through recruiting based upon aptitude and ability, rather than because of the colour of their skin
institutional racism exists and fundamentally places minority groups at a disadvantage in pretty much every possible component of life
until that sheer fact is eliminated things like this ought to be in place to ensure an equal and fair opportunity for minority groups
the argument of a meritocracy might actually have some clout once all of the actual thorough institutional racism subsides
[editline]28th March 2014[/editline]
and being real one of the best ways to reduce rates of crime among poor minority groups is to gain increased representation of people of color in the police force

Do you mean the hats? They're traditional, the Metropolitan police have worn them for at least a century now. They used to wear cloaks as well, just like the Victorian Met, but I guess they probably got rid of them because they could be grabbed by a criminal or something.
people of color in the police force
What
I thought calling people coloured was rude, if not just racist

This won't happen.
Allright guys people think we are racists but fear not, for I have a plan.
From now on we will deliberately exclude one race untill we have at least as much of the other race in the force.
No matter how many people of that one race apply, no matter how much they simply represent a majority in our local demographic, the other race has to go first.
Because to treat another race differently is the pinnacle of not being a racist.
Is this how it went down I wonder ?
do they have to hold hands and sit with the least popular guy at lunch too
You can also read this as:
"One black officer needs to be accompanied by one white officer"
Makes it seem like a colored person can't do a good job on their own, huh?
I would like the endemic racism in the Met to be dealt with but better than this.
Is this an 80s movie?
