I'm from Northern Ireland and it is definitely still discrimination, it shouldn't matter if they're Protestant, catholic, black, white or a fucking elephant it should be based on their ability to preform well as an officer of the law

Why not just switch places with the NYPD for a week? Britons will get to see what real racist cops are like, and the Met will also quickly learn why American cops have guns. It's a win-win.

There's an issue of them doing this and looking past applications on people who literally can't speak english but because they're minorities, they're forced to hire them to meet quotas.

I suspect the force is suddenly going to be understaffed.

They're traditional, the Metropolitan police have worn them for at least a century now. They used to wear cloaks as well, just like the Victorian Met, but I guess they probably got rid of them because they could be grabbed by a criminal or something.

I would like the endemic racism in the Met to be dealt with but better than this.
