My connection has been up for 72 days straight.
Did I mention it's ADSL?

Well there's been "some" lost packages though
Someone who speaks native Ukrainian / Russian should translate this entire thread, and send a transcript of this thread to GSC (in both English and Ukrainian / Russian).
Show this to their marketing monkeys that honestly think this is a good idea.
Out of everyone posting, about 90% of posts were individual users saying they won't buy the game. At 40 posts a page, that's about 150 or so people (at least) that have posted. 90% of that would be about 135 people saying they will not buy this game and/or will pirate it.
I've seen maybe - MAYBE - 3 people say they will still buy it.
I think those statistics are saying something.
Pretty retarded DRM overall, I'm a big fan of the series too :\
Why is everyone taking this as fact. There is no official conformation by GSC, and the only source is some obscure Ukrainian site that looks like it has nothing to do with video games. Here is the original interview:

Also, as far as I know, there is no information about Stalker 2 except it will be coming out on consoles. Do you think the first information about the game wouldn't be about gameplay or screenshots or a teaser, but some DRM thing that will piss everyone off?
When was the last time you didn't have internet connection?
a couple of hours every day because my ISP sucks a fat one.
STALKER 2?
Hasn't there already been three?
Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat are both part of Shadow of Chernobyl's story arc. STALKER 2 is a totally new story I think.
Although I can't really see how they can continue the story going from the 'good' ending unless they count that as non-canon like Metro's 'good' end was and continue from the ending where Strelok becomes part of C-Consciousness.
So have any of you whiners e-mailed GSC?
Whaaaaat. If they're going to do that they might as well make it mmo style with solo quest mode.

Seriously though. Players are going to wish they could play the pirated verion instead. What more do you need to say?

The amount of questions in there is enormous, so I will only write interesting stuff:
[release]
*Why are you making a new engine and will you sell it?
"We made it because Unreal was bad at drawing post-soviet terrain. No, we won't sell it we will give it away for free"
*Will characters from the first game come back in STALKER 2?
"Yes, Strelok (Was he called Strelok in English localization?) will return. We didn't kill him "
*Will you release stalker 2 on X360 and PS3
"We probably will release the game on X360 but we probable won't on PC3 (He said PC3, in English leters)"
*Which DRM are you going to include in Stalker 2?
Part of content (such as code and dialog) will always be located on the server. Piracy hurts us bad, and we are fighting with it. If a user buys a pirated version, we must be sure that he will buy the licensed version later. There are some products which people buy licensed because they like it. We want to make such a product
[/release]
Things they say make absolutely no sense. If they make a product, consumer is gonna buy licensed, because they like it, why make a DRM like that?

Felt like writing a novel
Actually only four questions :suicide:
Instead of just whining on facepunch you guys could send e-mails to GSC Gameworld.
I don't have a problem with it all because I ask myself, when am I not connected to the internet? Very rarely.
So what your parents doesn't pay the internet bill because of sudden unforeseen matters that need more attention than the internet?
Clear sky was near unplayable because of them.
Oh I agree. I took over that base in the garbage area like 5 times before it counted as a capture.
I'm tired of all this "pirating ruins business".
This is how I see it.
A person borrows a game from an actual friend. The game was so bad that it made shit look good. They return it and save their money for a better game.
A person pirates a game from a "friend". The game was so bad that it made shit look good. They delete it and save their money for a better game.
Imagine talking to a NPC and suddenly the text goes 404
"Here is the big secret to the stash that contains exo's and FN2000s, along with the largest concentrated area of artifacts: North of ERROR: 404 NOT FOUND"
nope.avi
How will this DRM affect mods exactly?
I don't know if this is a late reply or what. I read earlier on in the thread that someone should email him. So I sent him a simple e-mail to the address I was provided with. Even if its heresy or not I would like to see if he replys i'll report back to you if I see something from him in my inbox.

Greetings,
I'm an avid S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Player In-fact I've bought two of your products even though I cannot afford them. It really is a kick in the face when I support your products, and you give us such a harsh DRM policy to play a product you produce. Even through all the glitches, bugs, and errors I still came back. Not because the game play was fine, not because I liked the sounds, not because I liked the graphics no no. . . Because I enjoyed the Quests, Storyline, and Atmosphere your product provides your players with.
Therefore not in protest, nor in rash misunderstanding of your P.R. releases. It's because you'll lose more money in the long-run. I don't know if your like Gabe Newell of Valve Software Incorporated. Simply reading fan-mail you receive not replying, but seriously Oleg Yavorsky give this some pure simple logical thought. Listen to the fans, not the rubles.
Thank you,
An avid S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Player

i played the shit out of all 3 stalker games, its gonna be rough to resist this 1
i played the shit out of all 3 stalker games, its gonna be rough to resist this 1
It won't be for me. My internet isn't consistent enough to own it. I wrote Mr. Oleg a very heartbroken email asking what accommodations will be made in the future for long time fans of the game who simply cannot guarantee or afford a constant internet connection.
Well most people I know in china pirate games because they can't buy it.
Not because they don't have money, it is because there aren't many game shops here.
Talk about immersion breaking when a character's lines won't load because the WLAN crapped out.
Maybe they'll find find a way to write Internet problems into how their world works.
"Connection failure soon, fellow Stalker!"
Maybe they'll find find a way to write Internet problems into how their world works.
"Connection failure soon, fellow Stalker!"
"Oh really, when?"
"ERROR 404 NOT FOUND"
I really don't want an amazing company like this so fall just because they made a stupid mistake having DRM on what would be a great game.
So what they are saying is that the only way to have 100% content is to be online? And if at some point my connection gets cut I will lose the game at the same time? I'm saying this because my connection tends to go out a lot.
If your connection drops you will be unable to play the game.
Wonderful.
Whoever came up with this is either a master troll or a overly protective moron.
I'd rather have Stardock than Online-DRM because at least Stardock works offline!
Strangely enough, since the Ubisoft DRM controversy they tend to include it more often, a sign that the gaming industry is going to shit and they're deliberately trying to fuck us up the ass?
And my friend said nothing would happen when he pirated SHoC, CoP, and CS.
And i thought SecuROM phoning home some of the files you open while a game is running was bad..
Gone are the days when playing a game didnt require you constantly spend money.
Clear sky was near unplayable because of them.
I had more problems with SoC than I did with Clear Sky tbh. I don't think I ever crashed in vanilla Clear Sky.
I thought this was proven to be bullshit
From their Facebook profile :
Official S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

The idea of implementing DRM came in as a possible anti-piracy solution. That said, there is no firm decision to go for DRM with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
We do realize how uncomfortable this solution is for the players, so we'll continue looking for most effective, yet acceptable (for everyone) way of protecting the game by the time of its release.
