"DRM was only mentioned as a possibility, not a choice. We're still looking for a method that is acceptable for both GSC and the community!"
"@gscstalker Thanks for the clarification. I hope in the end that you don't institute always-online DRM, as that will affect lots of people."
"@zalas3 As I said, we will do what is best for everyone involved. It is a tricky business but we love our community so fear not!"

I got AT&T, so my connections drops often. This is just encouraging pirating, Arrrrgggg.
Would be gay to wanna play this game 10 years later and I can't because the servers are located in some Ukraine's basement rotting.
The first thing I learned about STALKER 2 is that it will have shitty, horrible DRM. Man, what a marketing strategy, I already broke out my wallet!
they just posted this on their facebook
"The idea of implementing DRM came in as a possible anti-piracy solution. That said, there is no firm decision to go for DRM with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. We do realize how uncomfortable this solution is for the players, so we'll continue looking for most effective, yet acceptable (for everyone) way of protecting the game by the time of its release"

How did I miss this?
Welp, I guess I won't be getting this. Once again, game companies fail to realize that not everyone has a constant internet connection available to them.
Fuck you and your DRM bullshit GSC, you were cool once upon a time.
EDIT: That is, if they do decide to go with this type of DRM. Because it worked so well in the past to prevent piracy. /sarcasm
Gone are the days when playing a game didnt require you constantly spend money.
Whether through DLC, DRM, microtransactions, or paying for an internet connection, the industry is past the time of buying and owning a game with one payment. We're only a few years away from all games being entirely off-site and charging constant fees to access and play them. They've figured out that instead of pocketing a one-time $60 payment, they could pocket a $60 payment plus $10 or $15 every month the customer wants to keep playing.
going to linux distro gsc into the ground and feel good about it
I wonder if console users are getting shafted like this
dump all hosted content and make a server emulator PROBLEM SOLVED
Well the man responded on the first possible business day !

Dear Richard,
Thanks for your email and your support of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. project. To let you know, the idea of implementing DRM came in as a possible anti-piracy solution. You know the severe level of commercial piracy we have here in ex-USSR region. This said however, there is no firm decision to go for DRM with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 as of now. Be assured, we do realize how uncomfortable this solution is for the players, so we’ll continue looking for most effective, yet acceptable for all, way of protecting the game by the time of its release.
Sincerely,

Such is life in the zone.
Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat are both part of Shadow of Chernobyl's story arc. STALKER 2 is a totally new story I think.
Although I can't really see how they can continue the story going from the 'good' ending unless they count that as non-canon like Metro's 'good' end was and continue from the ending where Strelok becomes part of C-Consciousness.
It hasn't been confirmed at all that the C-Consciousnes is gone
It hasn't been confirmed at all that the C-Consciousnes is gone
The ending of ShoC where [sp]Strelok kills them[/sp] has been confirmed at some point as the canon 'good' ending.
