Political correctness is crap Apparently your not allowed to say Happy Christmas anymore, because Jews and Muslims get pissed. I swear some people wake up everyday trying to get offended. :aaaaa:
I just saw the movie as a retelling of the Indian Wars in 19th century U.S.A.
Not to mention it had already been done as a full length animated feature film. You might've seen it before, it's about a guy who travels to a strange new land and meets a girl. They frolick around in the trees and she explains that what his people are doing to the land is bad. The guy's people come and try to take the land from the girl's people and eventually the girl's people try to kill the guy. You've probably seen it at some point, just a little film called.. oh lets see... Fern Gully.
I clearly saw the political messages in the movie, but I focused more on the big explosions and aliens riding dragons. Even afterward, I thought way more about the spiritual and philosophical aspects of the film than the political crap.
Goddammit. These men obviously don't realize that it is a fucking MOVIE. While I do enjoy a movie that makes me think, relating it to something like this is pointless. What are they trying to prove? "cameron thinks like this" Okay. So, what are you going to do about it?
Most artists put their own political messages into their work, whether they realize it or not.
Of course they do, to include a message in their work is the essence of art, its what distinguishes a work of art from something that is only impressive in technique. Obviously the artist will include a message that they agree with, or in the case of a big budget movie one they think would appeal to the greatest number of people.

I call people bitch and fag and shit all the time and no political correctness police ever arrested me.
if conservatives don't like it then they can make their own goddamn billion dollar movie
The Virgina Conservative
Well shit here's your problem.

Wasn't Xmen just some big metaphor for homosexuals?
Avatar = Pocahontas 40K .
What the hell can kind of message from that movie can anyone find disagreeable? That killing people to take their stuff is bad?
In 1995, there was a headline that read, "While Pocahontas brings in raving reviews and profits, it also brings in political debate". Any political parallelism that anyone finds between Avatar and any modern-day conflict is simply because wars are always being fought which involve natural resources.
lol if they made a movie with a conservative slant it wouldn't make sense, you can't have a protagonist who's a complete heartless dick
They called the Na'vi an aboriginal horde. There you go, fuel for your next dumb controversy.
I'm not American therefore I don't see a political statement in every fucking thing that happens such as Obama getting mustard on a burger
How do you know that there was intention for there to be ANYTHING else to the movie other than what it is. A fucking fantasy film. Have you spoke to James Cameron? Did he tell you about the "not so subtle" messages he put into the film?
I've passed high-school English, thusly gaining basic critical thinking ability? You think 1984 was intended as a cool sci-fi thriller?
The entire movie reminded me of the slaughter and massacre of Native Americans, except the twist is that the Natives won.
Well I guess everyone who is threatened by this message is obviously a greedy, irresponsible imperialist who disregards the environment.
At first i was on the side of the Na'vi when they were fighting the humans, then when I read on the avatar wikipedia, that the unobtanium was the key for a true space-faring civilization for Earth I was more like... Screw the blue people, mine the shit and let's take over the universe!
Although the movie did kind of remind me of the Iraq war, I think it was mostly based on the conflict between the colonists and native Americans, thus the similarities to pocahontas
I'm not American therefore I don't see a political statement in every fucking thing that happens such as Obama getting mustard on a burger
We have a winner.
big exploding gunships yay :downs:
