S.T.A.L.K.E.R assets used “illegaly” to promote Areal Kickstarter – statement
I find a bit of humor from this kickstarter being call "Areal", it's like they're straight up telling you it's a scam.
I also found their name rather humorous, since the actual STALKER guys are at a studio called Vostok (which means "east"), and these guys are calling themselves West.
This is why I did not get hyped about this game. It felt off. The way it was presented had an air of fraudulence around it. The artwork that was on the main page of the kickstarter made no sense at all to what the game was being touted to be and it bared no resemblance to any style that the developers for the STALKER games and Metro games used. Some icons were repurposed from fucking deviantart desktop icons for the games. It just looked like it was going to be shit.
I would stay far away from this Kickstarter because what Oleg said appears to be true. These guys probably worked for GSC for a few months before running off to do something else.
I love how apparently now, everyone on Facepunch knew it was fraudulent all along.

I also like how it's the same people on the first few pages of the Areal thread getting hyped and saying how awesome and revolutionary it is.
the entire kickstarter page is so poorly made and all the content sounds like bullshit. It doesn't take that long to realize it's a bunch of bullshit. It just looks like they wrote up someone's dream game. Everything is so poorly done from basic presentation to writing content. Why would you pledge money to this

lolwhat
It looks like STALKER's successor is not Areal, but Amyth ...
A shame most of GSC bailed
If they crowdfunded STALKER 2 they definitely would have more than enough money
Why would you pledge so much money to such a flimsy project?
That's the kind of money you give to the really solid stuff like the Planetary Annihilation Kickstarter.
The Areal Kickstarter doesn't even have any original work besides a few concept pictures. Everything else is from other games.
Which is exactly why I didn't dive right in. Had they produced a pitch using in game assets for the actual production rather than CGI from older games they would've had more money. I can only hope they come back with some reasonable answer to this and also something to really give me an idea of what would be included in the actual game.
Based on what I've seen, this seems to have less of a legitimate air around it than the old "gmod" thing a year ago.
We have contacted Vostok Games about their supposed claim that we are fraudulent. They say that they have no relation to that claim and have since deleted the forum topic (https://forum.survarium.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3450#wrap) wherein a moderator accused us of being fake. The Kickstarter comments section has been completely hijacked by a couple of people, and even if we comment there, our posts will be ignored and buried. Misery LTD in particular is developing another post apocalyptic video game and is stirring controversy to attract people to his Kickstarter project. I hope that you, our supporters, can see through this deliberate negativity and help us make an awesome game with Areal. Update 2 is coming later today, and will clarify things even further.
So, persecution card played.
....FUCK
I was really hoping this was true.
Like I actually jumped in the air,
God damnit I actually was super saddened when GSC gaming world shut down and the fact that this is false is like a kick in the already sore crotch of huge fans.

the misery devs are actually acting like bigger manchildren about it tho
EDIT: Not even a full 24 hours since the fraud claim was made on Vostok forums, and the MISERY/The SEED team is in full force bashing the project. My favorite claim is that West Games have shitty web design and you shouldn't give them money. Read for yourselves and decide what you think. I also find it pretty laughable that one of the references at the end is to one of their own dev team members's post. Gotta watch out for self-interest!
lmfao holy shit, talk about waving your dick around
like i said in the stalker thread:
the fact that misery's dev team is harassing areal's devs is even more childish than the fact that areal's devs are skirting around questions
Shit like this is the reason i don't kickstart projects.
Best part is, the idiots who stupidly donate to shady projects will use this as an excuse to discredit kickstarter games.
meanwhile the actual original crew from SoC are partying it up in malta making the next metro

remember how gsc drowned in pepsi

its like the leftover crew, who somehow end up in LA

if grigorovich hasn't gotten any kidney stones from how much soda pop he drinks then i'd be shocked
dude practically bleeds pepsi
I fell for the hype like a fool, luckily I'm too poor to pay kickstarters.
Vostok Games creation < Stalker. What we need is a real Stalker game, sad.

Don't really see why you're immediately assuming the Misery guys are the dicks in this.

did you read the thread that i linked. they've got no reason to feed yellow journalism
I don't mind Kickstarter, although they really need to expand and enforce the 'Show a Prototype' rule to games, you should have already put some effort in to the game you've said you're going to create instead of trying to take money off people for what is nothing more than a couple of sketches and a poorly worded pitch littered with shitey graphics. The only Kickstarter project I've backed to date was Wasteland 2 when it was announced. But they were a different story, Brian Fargo was making announcement videos himself (the introductory pitch was great), they had original concept art from an artist I recognised (Andree Wallin), and they didn't try to over-sell it, so I felt like tossing them $15 wasn't that much of a gamble. My heart sinks when I think about the reluctancy this will breed in people wanting back stuff on Kickstarter, all it does is hurt those who are genuinely working their arses off to try and bring you products you'll enjoy, it's a fucking disgrace.
Lol, one of the lead designers uses a stock image

Eugene Kim's (the CEO and founder of West Games) photo from Google Plus is also a stock photo.

That's be funny if they are.
Kickstarter should just boot this now.

How the hell does anyone fall for a scam where one of the team members involved in it has a name like Peter Dushynskyi?
It sounds like something you'd hear out of a comedy skit involving russian stereotypes.
When you think about it you can't really make a STALKER game with only a budget of $50,000
Only worthwhile Kickstarter I've ever seen was for The Dead Linger. The pledges were not too much to spend and they didn't give you massive OP bonuses. That's how a Kickstarter should be.
