Ahahahaha
I'm not surprised at all that their pictures are from stock photos. I suspected they would but didn't look into it myself. That confirms it is fake, though.
Edit: They removed the video. I can still watch it on my browser, is there any way to download it? I have FlashGot plugin, but it wants me to restart Firefox to enable it. Here is a shot from the video: Here is the video update: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DMizH8vJMQ
And the people who already gave them money aren't any better
How would these guys know anyway ? I fell for it too except i didn't back the project.
This just keeps getting even more confusing. Seems it might not be fake, again. It keeps going back and forth between the two, I'm sure something else will come along to make it seem fake again. I really don't know what to think about this campaign anymore. I'd like to see the game be made as it sounds like a great idea, but they have done things so poorly it wouldn't really seem right to back them. They've been so unprofessional with their Kickstarter campaign and if they had just put some actual effort into it at the start all these problems could of been avoided.
The video is back. It's actually a new video, you can see the old link on my previous post. I don't know why it was reuploaded.

The plot thickens. I don't know what to think, now. [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] If this is real, they're incredibly unprofessional and ill-prepared for game development, much less asking people for funding. If it's fake, it seems like they're going pretty far to rake in extra dosh - they've already netted over 30K, so if this is fake, why wouldn't they have cashed their chips in already instead of complicating things and possibly implicating themselves?

They have nothing to cash in until they hit 50k so they have to double down if they're unwilling to pussy out yet. If they are, in fact, actually trying to make this happen in good faith, and they're not just scammers despite the massive number of curious discrepancies that have all piled up together, this is going to be a worse disaster than Limbo of the Lost, and that's an accomplishment. If it teaches a pack of idiots the meaning of caveat emptor and how to use Kickstarter properly, I see no problem with them swallowing up some peoples' beer money to fail hilariously and provide YouTube channels with content fodder.
Man I get such a 'Limbo of the Lost' vibe from all of this...
It looks like STALKER's successor is not Areal, but Amyth ...
Wow I'm retarded and tired, I googled Amyth expecting another crowdfunded game then the joke hit me. [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] Hahaha what the hell they are the stock photos? What a weird twist
its not that hard to make a photo of yours a stock photo some websites dont even ask questions so long as they watermark it and get to add it to their library for padding. (i actually am in a stock photo tagged as "gamer". :v:) so i guess if somebody really felt like it they could've put these dude's photos in a stock database also that video just screams Slav in quality.

decided to do some snooping around, searched for the author tarmashev his site does seem to agree with west's story. looks like areal if it is for real will be based off of a book series of his called according to google translate area. i'm going to play internet detective some more.
the entire kickstarter page is so poorly made and all the content sounds like bullshit. It doesn't take that long to realize it's a bunch of bullshit. It just looks like they wrote up someone's dream game. Everything is so poorly done from basic presentation to writing content. Why would you pledge money to this [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] lolwhat
Honestly, the STALKER-universe and theme fit into almost anywhere perfectly. For some examples here are some good theme-pictures of Fukushima, Japan. It'd be a perfect setting for a STALKER inspired game. [t]http://donaldweber.com/files/2011/06/001.jpg[/t] [t]http://donaldweber.com/files/2011/06/003.jpg[/t] Very eerie. Sometimes things are completely intact, just as they were left, other times they're destroyed and warped beyond imagination by the tsunami. Throw in the radiation and the usual STALKER anomalies/mutants and it's creepy x10 But this is just an example. Every country has places like this, every geographic location has things that would make it a good setting for a STALKER game. For example. The Saltan Sea is in the United States and that shit is pretty creepy/STALKERish if you ask me. i apologize for the large post well earliest mention i see of areal is in this site on may 6th 2014 it's in Russian so i'll give a Google translated version and let any knowledgeable person correct me
* For the story of the game itself will be responsible author, Sergei Tarmashev and action games will take place in the world range, but the characters in this new will. But it is possible that they will meet the heroes of books, and the events will overlap. * The game, as in the book, will be in formed after the fall of the meteorite, the anomalous zone. Increased radiation, mutants, anomalies, artifacts and unique oil type "X" is many times more than all known to mankind fuels - this is what awaits players in this world full of dangers; * At the beginning of the game we will offer to customize and choose a character class. Only in the game will be five classes: attack (heavy weapons, heavy armor), shooter (sniper vitovka, light armor), soldier support (heavy-secondary weapon, medium armor), engineer (secondary weapon, medium armor), Commando (any species weapons, light armor). * The developers promise support for mobile devices, through which you can connect to the game and somehow interact with the game world. How exactly - the developers are not ready to share, but there are plans to cross-platform compatibility with mobile devices as well as with the consoles, which can leave the game; * On assurances of developers - the new game they implement ideas that are not implemented in their past games such as STALKER and METRO. A "game in the future give rise to a new round of gaming genre that has no analogues" (quote developers) * The project is calculated as a trilogy, moreover, each new game can be in a different genre than the previous one. It likely is a large deviation from the single-player online, where players will be able to be on all platforms on which the game will be released (such conclusions can be drawn with vague words of the developers); * The project is being developed on the "modern" (to quote the developers) engine, which is - tell us until the end of this year, when will the full announcement of the game; * After the release of the game - HABITAT book series may be between the author, for the moment you have the chance participate in the development of the game. The official group games are held regularly polls and laid out the latest news on the game. Draft will be released on PC in 2015-2016. Chance also release on PS4 and Xbox One.
okay so that is i think the first mention of the engine's name i've seen as well as some screens that are ambiguous , presumably in engine sceens but it could be anything, it seems almost skyrim-esque in the first one and the second reminds me of alan wake but i guess they check out.
did you read the thread that i linked. they've got no reason to feed yellow journalism
What? The only thing in this link is a reddit comment page to an image of the same quote ("we have contacted Vostok games about their supposed claim.."). One of the comments is a link to http://www.miserymod.com/?page_id=1911, which deconstructs the kickstarter. How is this "waving your dick around" or "harassing"?
we can't click those linkedin links unless we're logged in. take screen shots pls.
So this post on Reddit is interesting. Apparently this isn't the first Kickstarter that the guy the money goes to has created?
Dont trust "West Games" its 100% a scam.
we can't click those linkedin links unless we're logged in. take screen shots pls.
i'm doing imgur links since the thumbnail for it is too awkward first up is the CEO i'll edit these to add the rest of the team. also from the newfound info i do believe that maximillian kovtun is the main culprit here and the rest is in for a ride. i'm trying to find credible bits and pieces but at least a it seems he took the actual devs (a college student on facebook :v:) for space pioneer on a ride. so yeah, i feel like doing some doxxing on him in a bit. [editline] 27 june 2014[/editline] accidentially found eugene kim's personal blog while searching for info, apparently dude never moved outta ukraine, ditto for the rest of the devs. also found kovtun's linkedin, via association to all of the failed kickstarter companies problem is, i'm locked out since my usual strategy isnt working
This might be a real Kickstarter project after all, at least it seems like the game is being worked on and the team are who they claim to be. I'm not sure about the stuff about someone the money is going to being involved in other failing Kickstarters, though. The team is definitely real. They were formerly "Union studios" which was set up in 2012 by the same people. In 2012 they were working on what seems like same game. I don't think it's a scam anymore, just a poorly managed Kickstarter. I'm not sure about backing it at the moment though, I'd like to see the game be made, but they haven't really done much so far to answer backers questions, many of which are actual things to be concerned about regarding the project.
