20, still can't cant grow anything more than a dirty whisp on my upper lip and two patches on either side of my chin. Not that I really even want a beard
WE NEED TO BRING THESE BACK
I've done a lot of research on this for a final paper in college. I actually expected the researcher to be Barnaby Dixson, she's done a lot of papers on this thing. This is a very interesting side on facial hair attractiveness. No other study I have read involved the number of people with and without facial hair - they nearly all used the generic "Rate these faces" method.
Hipsters ruined beards and mustaches. I kinda wish mustaches came back. Actually maybe not since I suck at growing one.
Facial hair grows way too fast, easier for me to keep a neat, trimmed beard and shave the neckbeard part than to shave my entire face every day. I can't go one day without shaving if I want to maintain a clean, shaved face and somedays I just don't feel like going through the whole process. Nothing wrong with a neat, trimmed beard, it's the gross, overgrown unkempt messes and patchy childbeards that shouldn't see the light of day. If you can grow a beard and want one, maintain it, plenty of ladies out there love beards, fellas.
I have stubble. In my opinion, it's the only acceptable facial hair.
I like to keep down on my facial hair, possibly trying to keep to the old days where I didn't have to shave. I am curious about how I would look if I was to grow one though.
I've met a lot of women who like facial hair. Im not really sure what this article is trying to say. I dont have one though, I dont like how it feels.
Only children who just hit puberty and hipsters grow beards. I shave on a daily basis.
The amount of people i see with bad 'beards' is hilarious. It's like they think just because the hairs are 5 inches long it doesn't matter if there's only 20 of them because it's still an epic viking beard right?
It's VERY region dependent. In Vermont having a beard is almost a requirement. If you don't have a beard here, people think you're too "clean cut" or "conservative" I can maintain good trimmed scruff/stubble, but when it gets longer it's a little patchy and very red. I hate it.
Only children who just hit puberty and hipsters grow beards. I shave on a daily basis.
Obviously never heard of vikings before
i cant grow a nice beard anyway my dad grew a wicked sweet beard thos after getting hooked on duck dynasty
Obviously never heard of vikings before
Or this guy [t]http://i.imgur.com/OOW5Yus.jpg[/t] (Yes I know he shaved it off but he did grow a beard)
Beards are out just before hockey playoffs. Ouch.
Only children who just hit puberty and hipsters grow beards. I shave on a daily basis.
True in my case. When I went to the 7th grade my moustache had begun to grow, I didn't shave, not even once until the beginning of the 9th. By the end of 8th I looked like Jack Sparrow :suicide:
I don't see the point in relentlessly shaving something that grows on me in my natural, healthy state. Within reason obviously because hair needs to be trimmed and groomed Also I don't get ID'd when I have a mustache/beard, seems every time I shave I get asked for ID when I buy beer or go to bars :<

I thought the clean shaven look became popular because it was mandatory in the military and for about 50 or so years in the early to mid 20th century there was near constant warfare, so men who were in the military got used to being shaven and those who weren't didn't want to look unmanly and emulated them. The only people who say beards are bad are testosterone deprived lady-boys who couldn't grow a beard if they tried.
Peter the Great would have loved to hear this sort of thing; he wanted all his citizens to be clean shaven or cut their beards fairly short, or they had to pay a tax to keep 'em :v:
I think thin beards can look nice. I have one and people tell me I legitimately look better with it.
I hope facial hair is on the way out because I am 21 and I cannot grow any, then i wont have to feel ashamed any longer.
I was 14 and some guy in my school had a beard going. People from the middle east grow 'em quick. While I have to suffer painful stubble for weeks to even get it started.
What's with the beard hate? Beards are cool. Tasteful beards I mean, none of that neck beard shit.
in a way, i hate the praise beards get. for example, if you have a good beard, guys will NOT shut up about it. "hey that's a nice beard", "i wish i could grow a beard like that", etc etc. even guys with average or even straight up bad facial hair get compliments (though mostly just from guys who have even worse beards). clean shaves don't get any praise, however, even though shaving every morning requires a lot more work than just letting your facial hair grow (because let's face it, less than half of the guys who grow beards actually take care of them)

Being effective at prohibiting hair growth is not really an impressive personal trait
I wonder if my long, bushy sideburns would warrant any praise Probably not
Lets trade, I have a instant beard everytime I wake up.
Agreed. It's a burden more than it is a blessing. I'd rather my face be naturally smooth like a baby seal.

It's like saying a patch of weeds is more impressive than a well kept garden.

The point is, anything looks good if you're comfortable and look clean. It's the patches and bird's nest beards that need to go, some people need to accept that they can't grow a beard and others need to realize their beard looks like a shit bird's nest.
I wish I could grow a beard at all. But I really wish I could grow a beard to rival Neil Fallon. Cause he's got a sweet fucking beard.
