Just listened to it, wow, it's actually a very cool song. Even if the lyrics are quite distasteful, it's still nice to listen to. [editline]7th December 2012[/editline]
The protest wasn't just due to the US involvement in the Iraq War, but also the deaths of two 14-year old Korean schoolgirls by being crushed by a U.S. Military Vehicle. Please forgive the Daily Mail link also. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2244800/Kill-f---g-Yankees-Gangnam-Style-pop-sensation-Psy-used-spew-anti-American-hate.html To be perfectly honest, it's understandable. Besides, it was ten years ago and PSY apologized for it, so I believe people should just let it go.
Scotch-free as usual, I see.
Nearly a decade ago and he admitted the fact that he was caught up in the sentiment and what he said was crass and stupid. I don't see the problem.
It's just your basic celebrity gossip, some people love digging up skeletons in famous peoples' closets, no matter how outdated and pointless it is.
Videogames can be made about killing Cubans, Russians, and whomever else, but this guy can't make a song about it? He didn't kill anyone, so why not?
These games don't pretend to send that message, the song, however, does
To be perfectly honest, it's understandable. Besides, it was ten years ago and PSY apologized for it, so I believe people should just let it go.
But letting things go doesn't make headlines :v:
So we can leave the sons alone?
Somebody's got to make more daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers.

The only thing I'm wondering is if those words have quite as much resonance in Korean. Obviously there's gonna be a lot of anger in words like that, but there are a few countries where swear words are practically verbal tics, and South Korea's culture might be a little more... Umm, forgiving towards the implication of genocide? I don't know, having not studied Korean culture. Can anybody clarify?
Jesus go to his Facebook page... it was all lovey for him a few days ago, now it's fucking filled to the brim with messages of hate. Poor guy. At this point he should just make a video apology and explain himself a bit more. Hopefully people will forget quickly.
Guy sings about murdering the families of US soldiers, and Facepunch defends it. Seriously?
Guy sings about murdering the families of US soldiers, and Facepunch defends it. Seriously?
He's apologized and deeply regrets writing it. I'm sure you've made some bad mistakes before too, right?
Guy sings about murdering the families of US soldiers, and Facepunch defends it. Seriously?
A song is just a song, he isn't actually going to go out and do it.
He's apologized and deeply regrets writing it. I'm sure you've made some bad mistakes before too, right?
Not saying that he should be persecuted for it now, just that what he did was wrong and no it can't be justified. What's done is done, but it's not justifiable.
Not really dude.. that guy's song sounds like a childrens song compared to this.

Not saying that he should be persecuted for it now, just that what he did was wrong and no it can't be justified. What's done is done, but it's not justifiable.
Well, if what's done is done, he admits writing the song was a mistake, and he shouldn't be persecuted for writing it, why harp on the issue? No need to bring it up if you aren't looking for an apology or retribution, just let it die off so everyone can move on.
Not saying that he should be persecuted for it now, just that what he did was wrong and no it can't be justified. What's done is done, but it's not justifiable.
Hundreds of thousands of people in the US hold anti-Middle East sentiment and it is basically just accepted. Why is a guy on the other side of the fence not allowed to do the same?
I had no clue about it until I heard the apology.
Or like how everyone is easily offended not just America.
Okay okay. Americans and Muslims.
Never change, America.
A song is just a song, he isn't actually going to go out and do it.
but he's a pop musician... You can't expect to hold popularity if you're singing about murdering children.
pop doesn't normally mean popular, it seems to really mean intended and presumed to be popular by teams of marketers
but he's a pop musician... You can't expect to hold popularity if you're singing about murdering children.
You can if you are singing to a crowd of people who are all angry about the US stationing 32,000 US troops in your country.
is it just me or do the translated lyrics in the article fit really well with gangnam style's music?
You can if you are singing to a crowd of people who are all angry about the US stationing 32,000 US troops in your country.

Kill them all slowly and painfully.
No, that's not going to go down well.
I understand the sacrifices American servicemen and women have made to protect freedom and democracy in my country and around the world.
America defending freedom and democracy worldwide? I hope that was his attempt at a joke.
but he's a pop musician... You can't expect to hold popularity if you're singing about murdering children.
Gangnam style was a massive insult to commercialism, this is the stuff he does.
It seems a lot of people in this thread are forgetting the song wasn't written or recorded by him, he just helped perform it at a concert once.
Psy is fucked once this gets out into the mainstream media
Meh, I am ok with this.
Psy is fucked once this gets out into the mainstream media
fox news will literally implode, bill oreilly will then have enough souls captured to finally plunge this earth into a thousand years of darkness
if this was a thread about nickelback releasing a song about fucking up South Korea this thread would be very different.
