A lot of sociopaths will do "charitable" works for reasons far removed from actually wanting to help people. There are plenty of decent people doing good things, and sociopaths like to be above, or below, suspicion. Human decency starts with how someone treats the people around them. This guy is a monster, a wolf in sheep's clothing, plain and simple.
iirc he turned out to be a child molester and an all-around creep.
Until there's a guilty conviction there's only conjecture. He might be a child molester and all-around creep, but so might you or I. Until he's found guilty I'm going to avoid labelling him as a child molester.

So nobody gets confused i'm talking about JWJ not the guy in the OP

I too masturbate furiously to prison brutality because i, too, am massively disconnected from rationality
U r not alone
This world and it's fucked up human experiences through individual perspectives sure do well in making the joy of life stale and pale.

Kind of reminds me of Dexter where he explains why he acts normal and nice is just as a show to remove him from suspicion and its more like playing a game :v:

Wow. This is so retarded it hurts. A lot of sociopaths also do things because they like doing things. A musician who is a sociopath makes good music because he wants to be above or below suspicion? Not every sociopath has bad motives behind their actions, they're not some monsters who are always out looking to hurt people in any way they can. They're normal people like you and me who happen to feel no guilt/remorse for doing bad things, but it doesn't mean they always want to do bad things.
And you don't know anything at all about this guy. He's maybe a pedophile, but he also taught a lot of people how to program. How can you say he's simply a monster? You have no idea if he taught people to stay above suspicion, as you say, or simply because he liked teaching/interacting with other people (or some other motive that we can't think of that may or may not be "evil"). You don't know anything about his motives so it's retarded to try and figure him out. And on top of that, he actually taught people how to program. He probably provided more value to society than you. You can't deny that value. People who learned to program because of him didn't unlearn to program after it was found out that he was a bad person.

" Not monsters actively looking to harm people", well he actively destroyed his son's life for nearly a year. How you can even argue on his behalf is baffling as fuck.
Yeah it's cool everyone I now know java script, disregard the rape and torture this child had to endure for 8 months. His fathers motives are above your comprehension.:downs:

I mean sure he did videotape raping and torturing his son, but he also helped teaching a lot of people how to program. Surely that still makes him a nice and respectable person.
I hope he gets the right treatment for his mental illness.

It's certainly not binary, right? If someone does actions of massive good and of massive evil, then that person isn't 100% evil by default. One action does not nullify another action, because the other action already happened.
Is Walter White a bad person? Or is he nice and respectable? Most people would say both (because it depends on where and how you look at it). The same applies here. No one is 100% evil or 100% good. Morality is not binary and your world view would be improved if you realized that.

No reading comprehension detected. Someone said something about most sociopaths, I replied talking about most sociopaths. Then I went on to say how no one knows anything about this guy, so trying to figure out the motives behind his actions is meaningless. Never I defended his actions or argued on his behalf (if correcting misguided opinions about someone you don't even know is arguing on that person's behalf, then sure, otherwise, no).

I don't believe in good or evil as anything but a label. It's an opinion you form from the subjective perspective of your own morals, something that differs wildly from person to person. What people deem good or evil is just an opinion, and frankly, nobody gives a crap about opinions.
What I do know for a fact about this man is that he has committed gravely harmful actions to an innocent for his own gain. No matter if he's helped a lot of people with unrelated matters, this very clearly proves that he's a dangerous person without regard for the consequences his actions will have on others. This is not a man you should respect, this is a man you fear.

In this particular case I'm inclined to agree with you, if he in fact did what is said that he did, then he is a dangerous person without regard for the consequences his actions will have on others. And usually when we meet people like that we tend to shun them. And this is the correct course of action, because without the shunning of bad behavior then bad behavior proliferates.
What I don't like is how people suddenly discredit EVERYTHING associated with him in the past. If you go look at his reddit comments that are completely factually correct (related to programming) you'll see that they're all downvoted. Somehow the fact that he is a bad person makes his previous programming classes and advices less worthy of respect. It seems people care way more about who is saying something and not what is being said. And this is seen all over the world in all sorts of ways (things famous people say carry more weight, for instance), which is contradictory to what a society/community of people who say they agree with science and facts and rationality should behave: caring about the arguments being presented and not about who presents them.
On top of that, some people just make generalizations without knowing anything about a subject. That guy up there just said that most sociopaths do good things only to keep them from being "discovered", when he actually doesn't know if that's the truth at all (it fucking isn't, if you've met any number of sociopaths you'd know). And he has a bunch of people agreeing with him like retards.

Your edgy opinions are cutting me all up.
the guy needs treatment.
in fact, most (if not all) people that end up in prison should get treatment and education. a growing body of research shows that it cost-effectively reduces residivism (people returning to prison for new crimes, after getting out) and allows people to become functioning members of society once again.
if psychiatry can't help him now, it just means we need more research. more research is good research.

It's not working, try harder. You think I haven't had contact with sociopaths? I don't contribute to society, or at least not as much as this child torturer? You know nothing about me and, for that, I'm glad.

Yea, I don't know anything about you just like you don't know anything about the guy. You didn't like that I assumed things about you, so why did you go and assume a bunch of stuff about some guy who can't even talk back against your accusations?

How hard is it to understand words? I'm not defending the raping and torturing of children. The argument in question was

assuming this guy taught programming classes because he wanted to stay above suspicion. My argument is that no one knows why he taught programming classes, so assuming that he did it with evil motives behind it is stupid and not based on anything but pure speculation. Also, assuming that MOST sociopaths only do charitable works to stay above suspicion is equally retarded and based on nothing but pure speculation (and based on my experience is a pure lie even). Again, if people have no reading comprehension maybe they shouldn't try to argue.
Ok, so why do you think a sociopath would perform charitable acts?

A. For their own amusement.
B. To stay below the radar.

"Redditor who taught Programming to thousands raped, tortured and videotaped his son with other man in interstate child porn ring"
he probably taught programming because he likes it. Even insane rapist psychopath murders have hobbies.
he's still a sick asshole, why do you care about what we think about the man? he raped and tortured his son
why do you care? "don't make assumptions". Seriously, what makes that even matter?

I've already said this on this thread, maybe you should also read things people say sometimes:

On top of all that said in the quote:
I care about how easy it is for people to join bandwagons of hate against someone. It's easy, it's cheap and it makes you feel better because you're so much better than someone else who's a monster. But like I said before, morality is not binary. It's harder to consider that while he's a terrible person he was also amazing for teaching so many people to program. So the hivemind decides that go for the path of least resistance: he did something horrible so he's obviously horrible and everyone who maybe points of that he's not completely a monster is wrong.
I care about this because I've seen how easy it is for groups of people to "destroy" someone's life (and there are varying degrees to the word destroy here) because of this path of least resistance and I don't agree with it. And usually when I feel strongly about something that I don't agree with, I tend to voice my opinion in hopes of changing other people's opinions on the issues or underlying issues. In this case: morality is not binary, learn to deal with this and you'll have more resistance against falling into the "mob blind hate" behavior AND you'll learn to see people with new eyes.
If instead of completely ignoring "bad" people as people that are to not be engaged with, you won't learn anything about the world and why people do the things they do. Once you try to understand people's reasoning you realize that wrong and right are very malleable and soft. At the very least you'll be more exposed to people's shitty behavior and very few people will be able to take advantage of you or surprise you with their shit.
And note how I'm not defending raping kids and I'm not defending his actions. There's no way for me to spell this more clearly: what the guy did was horrible, but he was also amazing for teaching so many people to program. UNDERSTAND THAT HE CAN BE TWO THINGS AT THE SAME TIME
B. To stay below the radar.
Gus Fring from Breaking Bad is a classic example of this, being charitable to the DEA.
