obama no what are you doing
A support for Erdogan is technically a support for democracy though.
Just like support for Hitler is technically a support for democracy?

Turkish AF F-16s doing fast and low passes above Istanbul. One of them has allegedly shot down a coup Blackhawk.

Just like support for Putin is a support for "democracy". He was elected by 107% of Chechens after all!
I don't read much news but isn't Erdogan a known ISIS supporter?
No, but his government has attacked Kurdish troops fighting ISIS in Syria, thereby indirectly helping them. There has also likely been some form of trade between Turkey and ISIS, although it isn't likely that Erdogan approved of it. Plus there's the fact that he's essentially a dictator.
Hes right though, democracy isn't just about starting a coup when things don't go your way.
as much as I don't like erdogan
How do you think it would look if the POTUS vocally and openly supported a military style coup? Especially in a NATO member country?
Then maybe he should keep his mouth shut for once
A support for Erdogan is technically a support for democracy though.
He's a shitty leader.
Oh shit, bridge is back.
Still shooting.
Some ballsy fuckers not ducking whenever it starts.
bridge footage is now back up, crowd on the ground as shots fly overhead
Obama's hands are tied and he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. If he supports the coup he goes back to the Nixon/Kissinger idea of not supporting governments if it's not in their interests.
If he supports Erdogan it of course looks back because Erdogan has a terrible human rights and freedom of speech record. He literally can't win.
Then maybe he should keep his mouth shut for once
but he's, you know
the president
A support for Erdogan is technically a support for democracy though.
Hitler was democratically elected, its not a blanket defense.
Then maybe he should keep his mouth shut for once
Do you really think that the US could get away with being silent about a military style coup in a NATO member country? Grow up or learn to Politic.
What the hell, calling Obama "useless" and a "piece of shit"?
You must be naive as fuck as to think that he would allow a NATO country to be overrun, no matter if you deem it right or wrong. Come on now.
and the bridge footy is down again
Guys, at least post sources if there is anything "breaking", who is currently "winning"? I read different stories all over.

The jets in the video are part of the coup. In fact, the first footage we had was that low flying jet.

He was a pro-erdogan supporter. He was one of the first civilian victims after Erdogan's statement.
He attacked some soldiers, yelling "Allahu Ackbar" and got shot.
Photo of another angle is around for some hours now.

Seems unclear, but generally leaning towards the coup failing.

A lot of people just believed in him so much they voted for him twice. It's super democracy!

from what i can tell the coup seems to be failing but we haven't got any real clear picture of what the hell is going on besides the footage from the streams

Good job making yourselves look anti-secular.
Said "democratically elected" govt doesn't even support democracy in their own country.
A military coup RARELY ends up being good, to even say that is a good idea is showing basic lack of knowledge of history, if this was the people rising up, then I could go, hell, lets see where this goes, but since its the military, I don't trust it at all.

Yeah, laughable to believe that Obama is going to support some random coup we still have no clear information about in a NATO nation with a democratically elected government.
FYI there's a United States Air Force Base in Turkey so it's ya know a big deal for the US too.
