I felt nauseous watching that.
im totally against him. democracy cant take erdogan down right now, people are uneducated. they dont know what they are doing. they cant see what is going on, they think about certain topics and nothing else. and erdogan knows how to use these topics to get them to their side. i respect their votes but their votes got us to this
Why do you feel a coup is inappropriate then? Or alternatively what do you think would be an appropriate method of ousting Erdogan? Just to be clear I'm not arguing with you at all, just asking questions out of a genuine curiosity and lack of understanding. I'm an American with little to no understanding of Turkish politics or history.
Getting really bad.
Erdogan might have landed at an airport occupied by pro-Coup soldiers

Well he was elected so he could always not be elected? If he goes for the tyranny route, well either hope for western intervention or something.
Jesus christ this is insane

Google translate of the facebook post with the vid:
Precious Brother Abdullah İrgin, a group of friends and the general public with staff headquarters to a coup against the gang came to a stop. They were attacked. The Dead and injured in the attack. Big brother in the arm and took a bullet wound in the leg. Our friend, mercy to those who died and the other wounded şifaalar from God and have a great...
Make not that this is unconfirmed to be the work of the military. However in my opinion, you need a really heavy weapon to do damage like this.
It's like a sine wave of events

a lot of civilians are going to die. its already happening. sadly i cant think of an effective way. but controlling the media seems like the most effective way in this case. its what made erdogan strong in first place. too late to do it.
Two Turks in a discord chat, one is next to the MIT building and reports hearing afterburners and more bombs
I hear people shouting in CNN Turk

Democracy doesn't always lend itself to electing good people. If the majority of the country wants an Islamist theocracy, they'll get it, and the people living in the 21st century who don't want to live in that kind of environment just have to go along with it.
Hahahaha oh my god
A friend of mine just uploaded a photo of his plane ticket
He is travelling to Germany....and plane is supposed to land first in Istanbul.
Poor guy. He planned the trip back in March!
Theres a fuckton of yelling on the cnn turk stream.
Maybe the military is saying the coupe is unsuccessful to trick him into thinking he's safe to land at the airport
A lot of unhappy turks outside that CNN building :v:
This is about more than Erdogan. This is about democracy and responsible government in Turkey.
It is solely on democracy, but what if the democracy in question has been perverted and corrupted to the point where it is a democracy only in name. As an outsider looking it I can't claim any merit or specific knowledge on the political situation in Turkey, but from what I've seen while how he got there may have been democratic it would appear how he has stayed there has been through pseudo-democratic means. When you can no longer fix an issue through a corrupt system you can no longer rely on democracy alone to change a problem.

And that's what's happening. It raises the question of what do you do when the majority of a country votes to fuck themselves over. Brexit springs to mind.

Which is the general weakness of democracy sadly as its' what the people wants that gets chosen even if it ends with the abolishment of the democratic system or anything else really like the brexit vote and leading it to isolationism.

Well unless hes flying Turkish airline's, they can probably fly via a different airport.
On a related note, the travel agency of my company has been avoiding Istanbul as a stopover for months now.

You should first define "this"
Well unless hes flying Turkish airline's, they can probably fly via a different airport.

Because it's an unexpected extreme inconvenience for his friend? Quit trying to jump on him for something so meaningless.
