Some good news No one dead in the national assembly only 12 hurt.
People underestimated strength of coup This was because after initial success they were faced with popular resistance. They then hesitated as to whether they wanted to fire on them. Govt took this as sign of weakness and considered them to have lost. They then decided to fire on civilians and govt caught of guard and overestimated their strength massively, now in a bad spot
This is just a god damn rollercoaster
This is so fucking surreal. I can't believe I'm witnessing a coup live.
During the arab spring in Egypt we had a Facepuncher with a window nieuw on the Tahrir plaza. Live result and pictures.
This is so fucking surreal. I can't believe I'm witnessing a coup live.
Welcome to the world of modern technology. I oppose Erdogan's presidency but the military's way of going about this whole thing is rather violent. (I know, its a coup and that violence is expected.) Also, this threads peak was at 845 readers at one point - holy shit. Cheering at the CNN Turk studio.
What's with the cnn turk. now it sounds like cheering and whistling? wtf is happening.
BBC Saying soldiers are surrendering in Istanbul
Citizens are getting shot. WARNING GRAPHIC! https://www.facebook.com/muslu.apo.5
Is there a mirror? I don't have an FB account, can't see anything.
BBC Saying soldiers are surrendering in Istanbul
Could by why they're cheering - and now chanting something over and over.
there's clapping in the CNN office and now some chanting. This is too weird man, I'm getting mad at not understanding what the heck is going on. This kind of who's who and where they are confusion is annoying.
Can anyone understand what they are saying on the CNN feed?
Is there a mirror? I don't have an FB account, can't see anything.
Nope, hosted on FB.
Can anyone understand what they are saying on the CNN feed?
I think they were yelling at the soldiers to get out of the building for a little while, but now it's just incomprehensible yelling. It honestly sounds like a basketball game. I think the presenter's mic broke down or something.
Friend sead that they are cheering for the soldiers and turkey so pro-coup people at the CNN building
They're getting more desperate
BBC now showing soldiers firing into the air in Istanbul, I'm very confused now.
Holy fucking airstrike on protesters! https://twitter.com/ask1907com/status/754100467190394880/video/1 Edit: I think they purposely missed?

So erdogan landed There was a report of an explosion at the airport And still we have no news of him. Imagine if the pilots were actually pro coup....oh man....that would be just insane.
Which discord? Gunshot in the CNN feed.
A discord for the VA-11 Hall A game
They're getting more desperate
That's the old footage of the helicopter, just from a different angle.
So erdogan landed There was a report of an explosion at the airport And still we have no news of him. It's not looking pretty.
I still don't understand why they would initiate the coup when Erdogan wasn't in a position to be apprehended. Is there any way to know for certain he's actually on that plane?
Apparently Erdogan sighted among crowds outside airport, BBC Unconfirmed
The audio just changed on the stream to another mic
Press conference with Erdogan he's still alive
Would it be possible they he left for "vacation" for this same reason? It seems like their was some indicators beforehand that this was going to happen.
has someone got a remote microphone at CNN turk or is that literally from the studio
I still don't understand why they would initiate the coup when Erdogan wasn't in a position to be apprehended. Is there any way to know for certain he's actually on that plane?
Likely because they were planning the coup, gathering supporters and then their op was busted. So instead of just being sentenced to prison, they decided it would be the same to launch the coup and see what goes with it.
Press conference with Erdogan he's still alive
Isn't that an old one?
