Well uh... at least it will be stable right?
For the greater good.
istanbul is pretty much totally controlled by pro-government people
oh i thought he went to the other city that is currently under attack.
Pinkshirt guy can stop the violence if he drinks enough coffee We need to power him up
So theres word the coup was about Erdogan taking the country down the religious route, away from democracy.
In that case, Viva this revolution. Viva it good

my biggest question: what happens if Erdogan is killed? Will the power just go to his right hand man?
its much easier to deal with a dictator who suppresses free speech and silently kills dissenters than a multi-factional civil war with no end in sight, both for its people and for the international community
we'll have to deal with the mess eventually, with either Erdogan going full crazy or being removed with a civil war a few years down the line
thanks live streams [t]http://i.imgur.com/C0COxjs.jpg[/t]
fingering myself thinking of the trump of turkey
Where the hell are the checks and balances in a coup attempt by the military?????
The coup itself is the result of those checks and balances not functioning. The system failed, and it needs to be burned down. Getting rid of Erdogan is the right thing to do, he has no place being in control of that country even if "democratically" elected. I'm one for doing the right thing above all else. I don't give a shit about what other coups may or may not do, that is neither here nor there. What is here though is an atrocious bastard has been running the country and he needs to lose that control.
my biggest question: what happens if Erdogan is killed? Will the power just go to his right hand man?
Absolute chaos would happen.
BBC Just showed pro-coup soldiers in handcuffs, police in background
Absolute chaos would happen.
Civil war
From a Turkish guy in a discord "i had a friend who was literally outside during coup" His friends Alive don't worry
my biggest question: what happens if Erdogan is killed? Will the power just go to his right hand man?
The Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (parliament) becomes the acting President. Of course it depends on who holds power and other developments, but that's how it should go.
my biggest question: what happens if Erdogan is killed? Will the power just go to his right hand man?
i would predict near massive unrest leading to potential civil war military would step in asap assuming the commanders can get out of police holding cells
The Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (parliament) becomes the acting President.
not if the military gets it way, wouldn't that suspend the constitution making the chain of command void?
for sure, like i said, no good answers but its likely that the coup failing will cost less lives/money/time to make the place a not-shithole
Hardly. The coup failing is exactly what Erdogan needs to truly cement his power. If he retains control after this, Turkey is fucked and the people will suffer.
Erdogan seems to be saying it's HYDRA.
Well uh... at least it will be stable right?
we already have enough problems with turkey as it is but if erdogan and the turkish majority keep going down the path they're going, we're going to have to break ties with them
What is the best livestream to be watching right now? I just got home from school and I'm watching Sky News but I'm not sure if there's something better.
Reports of shots fired at the Fox Live newschannel.
and if the coup succeeds there will likely be a civil war followed by another dictator who will do what ergodan will do option a gets rid of the civil war part
No it doesn't. And there is nothing to indicate another dictator will follow Erdogan. And at least with Erdogan gone there is potential for someone good to take his place. So long as Erdogan has control, there is no potential for good.
not if the military gets it way, wouldn't that suspend the constitution making the chain of command void?
My hypothetical was if Erdogan is assassinated but the coup fails anyways, given the size of the loyalist elements.
Sky is blocked in Canada
Erdogan sure is trying to make the best of this, pointing fingers making big claims before the dust has even settled.
i have my doubts about a coup in which the rebels run over people with tanks and indiscriminately fire into crowds of civilians i don't like either side
and if the coup succeeds there will likely be a civil war followed by another dictator who will do what ergodan will do option a gets rid of the civil war part
Keyword there is likely. At least with Option B we have a chance of everything not going to shit, and if everything does go to shit it might as well be going to extra shit anyway.
