No it doesn't. And there is nothing to indicate another dictator will follow Erdogan. And at least with Erdogan gone there is potential for someone good to take his place. So long as Erdogan has control, there is no potential for good.
I'm sure all those innocent people who would die in a civil war (or under the rule of the next guy if he's worse, which is far more likely than him being better) appreciate your care for their lives.
Turkish guy I'm chatting with says the sonic booms are giving him a concussion, now he's just shitposting
I wonder if the HBDH were involved
CNN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTWrGNka-ik Sky News will cut coverage if they hear anything like a gunshot or explosive
Thanks. These commercials seem weird and out of place...
Thanks. These commercials seem weird and out of place...
it's a for profit news company, what do you expect?
BBC News "Coup is Dying Down"
Uhh, CNN turk cut from Erdogan's speech early.
BBC News "Coup is Dying Down"
In Istanbul, perhaps, but definitely not in Ankara.

So is Ankara lost to the coup or has the Turkish government quashed the coup?
In Istanbul, perhaps, but definitely not in Ankara.
BBC News has mostly been reporting about Erdogan and Istanbul, has anything major happened in the last hour in Ankara?
1 more sonic boom from turkbro I'm chatting with
I'm sure those innocent people who would die under Erdogan's reign will be appreciating you for your care of their lives.
I didn't say people wouldn't die under Erdogan, but it's damn near a sure thing way more would die if there was a full-on civil war or even worse dictator.
So is Ankara lost to the coup or has the Turkish government quashed the coup?
Istanbul is Pro-Erdogan but Ankara seems Pro-Coup atm.
Erdogan is a shit leader but if people want him to stay in power what are you going to do?
I hope the Military wins.
So is Ankara lost to the coup or has the Turkish government quashed the coup?
Ankara isn't lost but coup very successful there, but very unsuccessful in Istanbul.
Istanbul is Pro-Erdogan but Ankara seems Pro-Coup atm.
Thanks. All of these news sources are so conflicting and confusing that it's difficult to understand most of it.
I hope the Military wins.
Starting to seem unlikely.
Erdogan is a shit leader but if people want him to stay in power what are you going to do?
The people don't know shit, the PVV is the party with the most votes in the Netherlands but they would completely ruin the country.
I didn't say people wouldn't die under Erdogan, but it's damn near a sure thing way more would die if there was a full-on civil war or even worse dictator.
The problem with all of that is, is that we don't know if a full on civil war would occur or a worse dictator would be put in power. I personally don't think so. The Turkish military has been a pretty good beacon of secularity and democracy compared to fucking Erdogan.
Getting Ankara is more important. Istanbul might be the cultural, financial, and population center, but the government is staged in Ankara.
Sir David Logan, British Ambassador to Turkey '97-'01 (Need Confirmatipn on Dates): Bad outcome in terms of diplomacy if either faction succeeds.

What are the chances of uprisings in favor of the coup occurring in other cities/areas near Ankara?
What are the chances of uprisings in favor of the coup occurring in other cities/areas near Ankara?
My fear is that Ankaras' pro-coup status might lead to every city outside of Istanbul will be Pro-coup and we will have Syria 2.0.
My fear is that Ankaras' pro-coup status might lead to every city outside of Istanbul will be Pro-coup and we will have Syria 2.0.
I doubt it would end up being a second Syria but that would be terrible.
What are the chances of uprisings in favor of the coup occurring in other cities/areas near Ankara?
Well, if it turns out that the Military took over key government institutions in the capital and captured a multitude of the ministers, there's a very good chance that there will be a show of support. Primarily because Erdogan cannot rely on populism forever. The moment his authority wanes, he will lose supportets, even in Istanbul.
A civil war in Turkey now would be a fucking nightmare for everyone.
BBC news just showed a masked man with what looked like a M16, didn't look like military or police. He was standing in front of what looked like a crowd with Turkish flags
