• Turkey Experienced Failed Military Coup
BBC news just showed a masked man with what looked like a M16, didn't look like military or police.
Probably a third party wanting to take advantage of the chaos in some way.
Right now the coup hasn't succeeded, the public listened to the call of Erdoğan and the prime minister to go out and protest the attempt and people managed to secure most critical areas like squares and airports. Only the bosphorus bridge had some considerable violence involved. There are reports of grenades being thrown, the bridge may go down but I doubt it. Right now the military is compleyely unpredictable. Erdoğan cut his broadcast because of F-16 airplanes flying around the airport. I've felt 2 shocks, it was either an earthquake or bombs being dropped, either way people started to close their lights just in case. Regardless, I think this madness will come to an end soon. Whether you like a leader or not, a coup is never the right choice. Anyone who supports the military in this situation should go find a gun, hold it against his head and pull the trigger without a second thought because they do not comprehend the magnitude of consequences that comes with an overthrow. This is not an issue of secular vs islamic or anything, this is an attack against democracy, basic human rights and people of Turkey as a whole. One last thing, there is a metric fuckton of false information flying around, take everything with a grain of salt. If the army truly holds the capital isn't Erdogan finished?
:snip: poor taste
This isn't a joking matter.
I've never really seen a coup happening live honestly, not sure what to think.

Managed to get a picture of the masked man on the news, sorry for the low quality
May i ask where you are located in turkey? also stay indoors and stay safe
I'm located close to Ataturk airport.
I've never really seen a coup happening live honestly, not sure what to think.
In my entire life I've experienced many horrifying things but this coup attempt was something I expected to happen the least I was watching trump's hearthstone videos then my mother busted into my room in tears, telling me there is a coup going on. I was almost going to pass out, it felt so unreal, it still does.
Don't buy the conspiracies. You don't bomb your own Parliament.
Hitler did, so did Putin.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/turkey-coup-erdogan_us_57898e6fe4b03fc3ee5107c0 Well this is a bit suspicious.

Erdogan called the uprising “an act of treason.” He vowed to “clean up” the armed forces and “eradicate” those who operated the coup’s aerial forces.
Literally re-enacting Hitler's takeover of Germany. Christ.
Literally re-enacting Hitler's takeover of Germany. Christ.
You guys do know there is still no evidence that the Reichstag fire was a Hitler conspiracy, and most evidence points towards the opposite?
You guys do know there is still no evidence that the Reichstag fire was a Hitler conspiracy, and most evidence points towards the opposite?
He still used it to his advantage to take out his "enemies". Erdogan seems to want to do the same. Hence the comparison.
Reasons like this, is why I wish we still had the dumb rating in SH...
Why not just add a down-starred rating (User was banned for this post ("Discussing ratings." - Bradyns))
You guys do know there is still no evidence that the Reichstag fire was a Hitler conspiracy, and most evidence points towards the opposite?
that just seems like a detail to me. you can't deny however that it really put hitler into power.
Sonic booms shattered windows in Istanbul, Time Magazine reporter in Istanbul.
Also it's fairly vital to know that Erdogan was mayor of Istanbul in the 90's before he was imprisoned. It would explain the contrast of the situations in Ankara and Istanbul to a degree.
You guys do know there is still no evidence that the Reichstag fire was a Hitler conspiracy, and most evidence points towards the opposite?
It's a bit convenient, and it's not exactly out of the realm of reality. We're talking about a pretty corrupt politician. It wouldn't be the most outrageous political action ever taken.
Why not just add a down-starred rating
Why not remove the star and add Agree/Disagree? (User was banned for this post ("Discussing ratings." - Bradyns))
I'm going to catch some sleep and hope I don't wake up to a nightmare. Stay safe turks and hope everything stabilizes in your country.
So is Erdogan going to change Turkey after this is over?
Why not remove the star and add Agree/Disagree?
Everyone should spam the web devs until they do this
So is Erdogan going to change Turkey after this is over?
Probably, but not in a good way.
