Xbox One created 'with advertising in mind', advertisers to get limited access to Kinect features

If I pay to use xbox live, I don't want non gaming adverts about light beer etc, I payed for a god damm service not adverts.
MSOFT are really disconnected with what their customers want.
Whatever, Microsoft. TV in the USA is on the line of actually showing more minutes of commercials than minutes of the show you want to watch. It's why I no longer watch TV and it's probably why people are migrating to watching shit online with Youtube and Hulu and the likes.
Advertising has never, ever, EVER been a service. Fuck off

This isn't an exaggeration for people outside the United States. The worst offender is Two and a Half Men, 17 minutes and 13 minutes of advertisements.
The only situation where in-game ads would be alright is in sports games.
Like the NHL series, it would be a lot more immersive if 90% of the ads on the boards weren't just generic NHL *insert year here* and Bauer, CCM etc. ads.
But back on the topic, what the fuck does Microsoft think they're doing? They just barely got their derailing train back on track and now they're speeding it off a fucking cliff.
Don't worry you have Halo, Gears of War and Forza sequels, and the long awaited Kinect Sports sequel (that RARE is too busy developing instead of working on Killer Instinct 3 themselves).
Considering that pretty much all of the staff who were the major players in the golden age of rare have left, I really don't see why people spend time complaining that they want rare to make a new game that isn't kinect. It'd be garbage.
Chances are the Kinect Features will just be things like swiping to see a new advert, not spying on you to determine what durability of tissues they should advertise.
This is something interesting I doubt any of you even read.
They're going to try to incorporate ads in a way where they won't be intrusive to the player, and will be relevant and not jarring. So kinda like ads on Google, I'm guessing. I'd rather have a "BUY THE THING HERE" on the side of my browser while I'm searching for things than a video ad that I have to actually manually close out of like on Youtube.
This, too.
So we're not going to be seeing Facebook-tier ads that say "YOU CAN MAKE A MILLION DOLLARS PLAYING GAMES! CLICK HERE!!!!" And this!
Strange that I'm one of the only people to actually mention the context and justification behind what Microsoft's trying to pull. It's as if half of you only read the part of the article that the OP bolded!
I honestly don't care. I can't stand ads and I refuse to spend $600 on a machine that's built to serve me ads in the most literal of senses.
A single advertisement on the dashboard is unacceptable to me. I don't really give a shit what reasoning they have behind putting it there, nor do I care one shred what sort of 'privacy policy' they have behind the ads. If I'm gonna pay that much for the sodding thing I expect it to be ad free throughout.

You shouldn't get advertisements if you're paying for the damn thing every so often, I thought, that's like, how things kinda went

They do. Viral marketing on 4chan is a real thing.

I love how ZachPL rated you dumb
yeah keep sucking microsofts dick dude
I really hope the PS4, like the PS3 doesn't have ads in the menus. Well, unless it is the What's new button and in the store of course. Even then it is still videogame related not some dumb random shit.
Does Microsoft have any feet left to shoot themselves in at this point?
How long before they start shooting other people in the foot to compensate?! D:
It's sad that companies rely so much on advertising anymore that other companies are willing to spam adverts in their services just for an extra dime. And if I remember correctly many companies spend MORE money on advertising than anything else. It's getting ridiculous. I halfway predict that the Futurama "adverts in your dreams" thing will become a sad reality sometime in our future.
