Itt poor jealous people.
I'm not really jealous though? The house isn't in my taste. That's all everyone here has been saying, actually. [editline]edit[/editline] If you mean I'm jealous of the fact that this guy got extremely rich by making a game that went viral then yeah I suppose
he's probably going to sell it off within 10 years' time and live somewhere that's less gaudy. sorta like how gaming pc builders start off with this but then later prefer to have something like this [T]http://images.tweaktown.com/content/4/8/4844_99_fractal_design_define_r4_black_pearl_mid_tower_chassis_review_full.jpg[/T]
Itt poor jealous people.
What would i even do with such a big house?
What would i even do with such a big house?
You could invite your friends, if you had any.
You can say that I'm jealous or whatever but I find it really pretentious to buy a house like that. Especially for a game developer. I mean, I'd understand this coming from a movie/pop star because they like to show off but a programmer is usually modest and introverted.
It ain't going to buy him love though the fat neckbeard! (I am jealous)

Now I just have a Mini-ITX BitFenix Prodigy build hiding under my desk.....
It ain't going to buy him love though the fat neckbeard! (I am jealous)
It probably will buy him love
What would i even do with such a big house?
you just made me realize that the house was designed with a couple in mind, hell it's even got two showers next to eachother Notch is probably going to single for a long, long time so living there is going to be depressing
What would i even do with such a big house?
Sell it. Become rich.
You can say that I'm jealous or whatever but I find it really pretentious to buy a house like that.
It is smart. Attractive location, it will sell for more when he sells it.
It probably will buy him love
Love is not the word you're looking for here.
Love is not the word you're looking for here.
"Attraction"
It doesn't have any soul to it Everything feels like it's saying "this is something a rich person would have" instead of having any real use or design value
He played it smart and now hes rich. Also jesus fucking christ. [editline]a[/editline] Oh come on, explain to me how he didn't play it smart.
he played it lucky. nobody could have ever predicted that a simple and fairly junky indie game would land the guy more than about $50
It ain't going to buy him love though the fat neckbeard! (I am jealous)
I dunno. He's a genius, he's wealthy, he's not "ugly" (not saying attractive but the dude's average to what I've seen), and he seems like a nice guy if you got to know him personally. I think he's fine.
It honestly makes me wonder what the next "big" game will be. Like, who is going to become the next Notch?
It honestly makes me wonder what the next "big" game will be. Like, who is going to become the next Notch?
Probably no one until indie devs learn to stop thinking that "blocky games will earn me tons and make me famous, just like my hero Notch".
It doesn't have any soul to it Everything feels like its saying "this is something a rich person would have" instead of having any real use or design value
Soul is acquired through living in the house, not right after buying it.
Well, all things considered, it's a pretty good investment especially considering it's built in one of the most expensive cities in California. Meaning that it's going to be worth a pretty penny for a very very long time. Meaning at any time if he needed cash he could sell it. You have to remember that wealth does nothing for you if you don't do anything with it, it seems as though notch has no intention of starting another company or doing coding as a significant revenue stream ever again, in which case he's going to live off of the wealth he made from mojang, in which case the only option is to invest in a broad portfolio. Essentially he probably didn't just buy the house for the "lol huge house" factor, but the fact that it was a sound investment.
shit its in the bhpo it will literally never go down in value. ever. bhpo is probably in the top 10 most expensive zipcodes in the US
i don't like notch or minecraft but it is pretty incredible that an indie game developer outbid jay z and beyonce to buy the most expensive house in beverley hills
he played it lucky. nobody could have ever predicted that a simple and fairly junky indie game would land the guy more than about $50
From what I can tell from watching Minecraft development he isn't a genius or even incredibly talented He was just insanely lucky that all the blocks fell into place for him, especially in the case of free advertising
"Attraction"
Nope still wrong there.
Good for him honestly, I mean how many people ever have the chance to even have that kind of money, id get a sick fucking house as well.
i don't like notch or minecraft but it is pretty incredible that an indie game developer outbid jay z and beyonce to buy the most expensive house in beverley hills
Can you imagine Jay Z and Beyonce bidding on that house in an auction hall, just to see a fat hairy Swedish man stand up and outbid them?
Soul is acquired through living in the house, not right after buying it.
An empty house sure, you put up your own furniture and posters and hobbys and whatnot Unless he plans on renovating it extensively, he's just gonna have rich people stuff in a rich person's home
Nope still wrong there.
Wealth is a fairly attractive trait since it shows that you're successful and that's hot as fuck.
Itt poor jealous people.
I'll take comfort over excess any day of the week. Really though, all the sterile white/marble/glass just isn't my style. Offer something like these: And I might change my tune. But hey, if Notch likes the house then more power to him.
I dunno. He's a genius, he's wealthy, he's not "ugly" (not saying attractive but the dude's average to what I've seen), and he seems like a nice guy if you got to know him personally. I think he's fine.
I haven't heard anything of him finding anyone and I doubt he's going to find someone who genuinely likes him for looks or personality with a flashy house in a fancy area. He probably is hoping just to get some quick cheap action but I imagine the gold diggers there have some high standards despite how low gold diggers are.
