• Notch bought a house.

he should have built a house made out of large, poorly textured cubes
I don't think I could live comfortably with a painting of Marilyn Monroe in my living room, one eye always staring at me and her other eye always staring at a completely different place. [editline]19th December 2014[/editline] Like, honestly [t]https://mouchegallery.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ONLY-USE-THIS-VERSION.jpg[/t]
that'd be dope if he had a security camera in Marilyn's lazy eye
Hopefully Notch will have everything he needs to be happy. That looks like a really nice house to live in.
His real house!
i could never live in a house like that because you'd need maids and other employees to keep your home clean and to refill the candy, it's too weird to have random people in your home every day for hours.
So you make friends with them, and then they're not random people.
I'm glad money like that will never come into my hands. If I bought a house like that, it would be shit up by prints and posters of comic books/video games.
I can't imagine living in such a huge home. Seriously that mansion has like 6 living rooms. If I ever got a billion dollars I'd probably buy a nice car and a really small mansion and then donate 99% of it to charity just so I don't have to stress out over that much fucking money on my head. It'd be really nice to never worry about having enough money to actually do anything though.

Now I wonder, if Notch can afford to buy that house, what will Gaben house look like?

I agree, that house is way to gaudy for me. For that much money, I'd much prefer to have something nice like this:

Good for Notch, but something about this just puts a bad taste in my belly.
Surprised he didn't go with an architect.
Gisele Bundchen and her husband Tom Brady did that. They bought a piece of land up there, had a home built to their specs, then sold it. It took a while though. If I had to guess I'm thinking Notch wanted something now, and he wanted it to be the newest, most ultimate Beverly Hills megahome. I can't blame him, with that kind of money in your pocket even a $70 million house is not much of an expense. He saves all the time finding a property, designing a home, getting permits, then waiting for construction to finish would take. edit:
Honestly? A place like that would intimidate me. I'm not a fan of big houses. Too many rooms. You can't be sure what's going on in all of them. Means you have to hire help. Which means you have a constant flow of money going out. Increased risk of someone robbing you. Unless it's like an abandoned missile silo or something. That would be cool.
Once you become famously worth megabucks you HAVE to hire help. By help I mean security. At that point, hiring landscapers and maids and kitchen staff are the least of your worries. He can't live a 'normal' life anyways even if he lived in a normal house. He might as well live where people that wealthy live, in the kinds of houses they live in.

I don't enjoy huge, extravagant displays and luxury materials that just scream out into the world where and who you are. I enjoy my home quiet, somewhat hidden and using earthy, robust materials. Frank Lloyd Wright has the basic idea down, but he was still a big name that designed upper-scale homes, which almost invariably meant spacious. I absolutely love the rustic feeling of woodworks/masonry, coupled with well-designed and flowing interior spacing in such a fashion that it almost seems like a shout-out to our distant past as cave-dwellers.
http://seattletimes.com/pacificnw/2003/0518/cover02.html
I didnt know gabe had little gabens runnin around!
I wonder if he'll ever use half of those bathrooms Assuming all his bedrooms are being occupied by guests, he'd still have like 7 toilets not in use
I wonder if he'll ever use half of those bathrooms Assuming all his bedrooms are being occupied by guests, he'd still have like 7 toilets not in use
Wire them all up to flush and shower at the same time, no matter which one he's actually in at the moment! Just because he can and just because it offends the treehuggers.
Personally, if i had tons of money to blow on a house, i would get a big cottage in the mountains in Washington. Have it so i could see the mountain range from my living room and bedroom. City scape are neat, but they don't really change through the seasons.
If I had infinite money I'd repurpose a Castle or have one built for me. Fuck post-modern glass and white metal

Not for how it looks, but for how it's used in 10th grade english classes as an example of the influences of transcendentalism. They say "oh it's all about nature; the architecture is earthy and is meant to be as a sort of extension of the nature around it, like how the pre-existing water fall flows through it". FUCK THAT! You think Henry David Thoreau would've walked by a beautiful waterfall and went "wow that's really great! I should build a huge fucking house on it with Cable and indoor plumbing and internet!" No! This fucking house has nothing to do with transcendentalism. also I've seen pictures and the ceilings are really low
That's such a generic rich guy house. If I were rich I'd go for something a lot more modest, or at least cozy. Like this [t]http://www.home-reviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/clip_image00141.jpg[/t] or this [t]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lR2vracc3r8/SoppkofKdZI/AAAAAAAAAs0/Dq-2uw2Z89o/s1600/Bilde+1.png[/t]
I wonder if he'll ever use half of those bathrooms Assuming all his bedrooms are being occupied by guests, he'd still have like 7 toilets not in use
It would be something to own a home so large you can honestly tell guests "There are toilets in this house that have never been used, no shit!".
god damn, he's living in style
Fun fact: Notch outbid Jay-z and Beyonce for the house
That was the first line of the thread.
If I had the money I'd totally buy Mike Tyson's abandoned mansion and clean the place from top to bottom. The 80s look is definitely staying. At least I'm hoping nobody else bought it first since I can't find new info on that.

IIRC there was a huge indent in the living room to create extra space as well. My point wasn't a reflection on Wright's philosophy in architecture, but that I like my houses to be rustic and almost reminiscent of caves in that they stir a feeling of safety and coziness in us.
dude donating "99% of it to charity" would be a horrendously irresponsible financial decision
I wouldn't literally do it exactly like that. The general idea though is that you keep enough money invested to sustain whatever lifestyle you live and more than enough to fall back on if things go south. Then you have money flowing outward toward charities and helping the quality of life increase for everyone in the world. I don't mean I'd just drop crateloads of money on some random charity.
