No audio to stop screamers from what I've been told
No, it's just because images don't have audio
our intention to provide the site with better animated images, and not true video support. To that end, we only accept WebM files with one video stream and no audio streams
[vid]http://the303.org/webm/dangitbobbeh.webm[/vid] What a time to be alive!
the downside is that everybody is going >.gif whenever you post a gif now and its real fuckin annoying
And here is one with sound [VID]http://puu.sh/sbCL[/VID]
I'm glad people are finally using this. Certain subreddits have started doing this and its fantastic to have animated images that don't takes ages to load and play super smooth on mobiles.
doess this support mobiles? How else will i jerk off at night?
doess this support mobiles? How else will i jerk off at night?
Depends on the browser your phone uses. I believe Firefox/Chrome/AOSP Browser on Android support it. Not sure about other browsers/OS's.
I hope for the future they make the program easier to use.
You don't need to use ffmpeg, http://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/download.html this is a good GUI
[vid]http://the303.org/webm/dangitbobbeh.webm[/vid] What a time to be alive!
60fps sexiness, all of my yes.
This will change my /gif/ experience... Not that I spend any time there :v:
Webm is so nice. I posted this vid in the Rhythm Game Megathread. [vid]http://puu.sh/807Dd[/vid] It's so much nicer watching 60fps video on the web. You can use dropbox and puu.sh to host webm if you don't have webspace, works just as well. File sizes are small too, that entire video is only 59MB.
Does anyone remember that webm thing that garry posted once? It was just a colorful spiral thing but it had some nice audio with it.
3 minutes on 4chan, this is already being used for porn.
finally got this shit to work, too hard to get 60fps in under 3MB though [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/4xwbvbuk3i78wk4/SEV2.webm[/vid]
You can use dropbox
Sure, on the less popular threads. I posted a small WebM to General Ingame Media once and got my public links suspended for a few days, so be aware of that.
Here's a comparison for you guys btw GIF = 4.5MB [vid]http://zippy.gfycat.com/AlertSpicyBlueandgoldmackaw.mp4[/vid] <video> html5 version: 286kb, 16 times smaller (facepunch doesnt have them set to autoplay, autoloop, and hide the control bar, but 4chan does I guess)
Wow that little fucking brat.
I just realized something no more fucking snobs arguing over peanut butter
is webm more processor and memory intensive than gif?
This is cool but can this be removed?
I'm not sure if this was answered but you need to go to your settings and check "Image hover", that way you can just hover on the thumbnail and see the file without the overlay. Also it'll make the file loop, which is nice.
I hate how it loads every webm video simultaneously, makes the ones I want to see load slowly.
60fps sexiness, all of my yes.
Feast your eyes [vid]http://the303.org/webm/SANICRUN3.webm[/vid]
I just realized something no more fucking snobs arguing over peanut butter
But stupid arguments about minor shit is what the internet is built out of, along with cats and porn
is webm more processor and memory intensive than gif?
To be honest, even if it was, gifs run slowly on some devices/browsers, so apart from draining your battery it's not going to make much of a difference
it's pronounced webemm not webumm
I keep thinking of WebMD
is webm more processor and memory intensive than gif?
I don't know. But I do know gifs lag on my quad core Note 3 phone yet webm plays smooth and quick. Even high resolution ones.
I hate how it loads every webm video simultaneously, makes the ones I want to see load slowly.
it hasn't done this to me
I don't know. But I do know gifs lag on my quad core Note 3 phone yet webm plays smooth and quick. Even high resolution ones.
Exactly, I wouldn't worry about it, optimisations are always being made (for webm), not for gif which hasn't been updated in forever
is webm more processor and memory intensive than gif?
As far as I understand, yes and no. GIF is basically raw raster frames with practically no processing. Webm can use quite complex methods of encoding (which is why it practically without quality loss achieves like literally ten times smaller file size). On the other side, all modern CPUs and APUs have built in functionality specifically for decoding h.264 and other modern media formats, so while the task is more complex than just vomiting GIF frames, it's far more "natural" for them and they can do it far more efficiently.
is webm more processor and memory intensive than gif?
Gifs are laggy on my phone, but watching webm embedded in sites on my phone browser is a full 60fps.
finally got this shit to work, too hard to get 60fps in under 3MB though [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/4xwbvbuk3i78wk4/SEV2.webm[/vid]
The german soldier just experienced his first ever webm video.
