Didn't see that. My other point still stands that Islam is irrelevant.
No, and hating on Islam for the attacks is fucking retarded, but that doesn't mean they werent Muslims.
They're Muslims in the same way that WBC are Christians.
And that's relevant, how? Other than to spread hatred against other Muslims/Islam just because a small group of them did something bad?
It's funny that you have two accounts that you use so you can avoid one day bans.

it's funny how you made a sandwich the other day with bread
Ok, we've distinguished the crazies from the Muslims. Now, I would just like to know, since we do in fact allow freedom of religion, if we could build a Church of Christ somewhere in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan.
uh, who is "we"
the united states? since when does the united states have jurisdiction over church building in the middle east?

It's funny that you never contribute to the topic.
Both sides are idiotic.
Protesters are ignorant fucks, muslims are ignorant fucks too.
They're Muslims in the same way that WBC are Christians.
They're still muslim. It really doesn't matter, they are.

and between his two accounts, he's contributed more to most discussions than you have to any that I've seen.
Didn't see that. My other point still stands that Islam is irrelevant.
your dumb posts in this thread are the perfect example
It's so depressing that the supposed bastion of freedom that is America would present this image of intolerance and demagoguery to the rest of the world. Of course it's going to help extremism, it's an actual concrete thing they can point to and say "here! see!? the west hates islam!", because that's how it's going to be perceived amongst these people.
Lol says who?
I'm American, and I don't think that it's a "bastion of freedom", or was ever intended to be. Anyone who says otherwise is uninformed or attempting to make America look better than it is.

A few days old, but I didn't see a topic for it.

Okay our government will step in and put a stop to the protest.
Because that just SCREAMS freedom.
The US government, state, and local levels all have greenlighted the mosque. They ARE FREE. Muslims receive exactly the same rights as anyone else.
I think the people protesting it are morons, but they have every goddamn right to do it.
So take your moral supremacy and peddle it elsewhere.
All I have to say about it is they have the right to do it, but is it necessarily the most rational thing to do, considering there are still many many many people who are still sensitive about 9/11? I don't think so.
It would be fine if they moved it somewhere else in the city, and opened it up peacefully, but it seems to me they want to put it there just to cause conflict. If they really wanted to extend a message of peace, they would take into account these misnomers, and try to teach against it, not shove it in people's faces "We are a peaceful religion! You're all bigots for not letting us build here!"

...huh?
When did I ever say I thought the protests should be forcibly stopped? Of course they have the right to protest over this, and I have the right to call the tactics used by supporters of the protests demagoguery and such things.
Though looking back at it, that's a bit of a bad wording. Perhaps "america presents" and "bastion of freedom" were the wrong phrases to use, idk. Again, I didn't mean they shouldn't have the right to do it, just that they shouldn't do it, and the protests and rhetoric and all project an image (even if it's not true) of intolerance.
EDIT: Really though, "take your moral supremacy and peddle it elsewhere"? That's a bit uncalled for
Just as planned.

Why has no one banned you for just repeated trolling?
has anyone said why they can't just build the mosque/center/whatever the fuck just somewhere not so close
why does it HAVE to be where it is planned now
It would go a long way for the people in charge of this Islamic Center to acknowledge that they do have the right to build the Center there, but understand there are sensitivities among many that live in NYC and perhaps discussing relocation. It would be a very welcomed gesture and would perhaps make some of the people valiantly protesting this realize that Muslims are not bad irrational people.
However, it may be too late for that now since this whole thing has grown into a mini social war. If they did what I was suggesting right now the protesters would see it as a victory and something to be celebrated about defeating.

there was a building for sale.

You could say the same about repealing DADT. Lots of people are sensitive to gays so maybe we should just keep them banned from the military huh?

PEOPLES FEELINGS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THEN PEOPLES RIGHTS goddammit.

That's what a lot of people seem to be saying.
That's what a lot of people seem to be saying.
it's in fine print on the constitution that anyone of the right wing has the right to not have their feelings offended.
That's what a lot of people seem to be saying.
Word. And to anyone saying they think it's insensitive to build their community center there, don't you think it's kind of insensitive to basically be saying that because of their religion they should be treated like murderers?

I guess they should impeach obama cause he's a democrat based on this.
Why can't they just build somewhere else? It's really disrespectful to lots of people, because it was religion that brought the terrorists to crash the planes into the twin towers.
not in the slightest.
I say we build the mosque to prevent more propaganda from being made. I have learned recently of something called Taqiyya that was explained in a video. In short, it allows Muslims to purposefully deceive non-Muslims if it helps spread Islam.

not in the slightest.

To be fair, yes it was. While they were manipulated by people, religion was the tool that they fell back on, and the actual hijackers were doing it for religious reasons.
Not that this actually means anything.
