Oh god what a huge tragedy you sure showed me
Same can be said about the UK and just look at the crime stats. Sorry to bring that up for the billionth time.
I agree one hundred percent.
Now explain to me HOW THIS SPECIFIC PROPOSAL will curb gun crime.
None of these executive orders would have stopped Nidal Hasan from murdering 13 and wounding 30.
Only someone with a firearm could have stopped him.
So... Will the "10 round limit" make this gun completely illegal then?

Dual internal feed tubes, using 12 guage this leads to 7+7+1 in chamber.
"Oh those 23 students, they don't matter"
Sandy Hook was a tragedy. What he linked was just unfortunate.

It won't. That's why he needs to ban all guns.
I don't care which side of this you're on, literally surrounding yourself with children is the most blatant ploy for sympathy I've seen from a politician in my life. Disgusting.

Adolf Hitler did it in the 1930s purely to gain sympathy.
Sandy Hook was a tragedy. What he linked was just unfortunate.

How is one a tragedy and the other isn't????

I'd say that it's technically legal due to there being two separate tubes.
damnit snip

I'm not over eighty years old, man
How is one a tragedy and the other isn't????
Because a bunch of kids died in one incident and nobody did in the other?
I'm not over eighty years old, man
What does your age have to do with anything? I'm simply pointing out that Obama is using a tactic many have used in the past to make themselves appear sympathetic and tug at the heart strings of people.
Did obama seriously mention that one of the executive orders will spend MY tax money on studying whether or not violent video games make people go and kill people IRL?
Yup, that's what he said.
Fuck these "feelgood" bills. Demonizing gun owners wasn't enough, now he has to go and demonize gamers?
Oh boo hoo.
Is it that completely illogical, that backwards, that completely unbelievable a hypothesis that "Violent video games could make the individual more violent"? To the point that any and all studies on the matter are pointless and futile, and will always come to a conclusion beneficial to you anyway?
Let the damn studies happen.
Yeah so ban those too. How does that sound?
There's no winning with you people.
I mentioned this in another thread too. If I want to kill someone, or a lot of people, I'll find a way to do it. For example, how many people do you think I could hit with my car before I get stopped somehow?
If I was in Times Square in NYC, I'd reckon quite a few if I floored it.
If I was aiming for an elementary school, assuming I get through the wall, probably again quite a few.
Doesn't matter if people have a gun or not, they can and will find some way of killing another person, if that's what they want.
Because a bunch of kids died in one incident and nobody did in the other?
23 kids were still stabbed and thats my point. People are going to hurt and kill each other no matter what you ban. You're better off addressing the actual issues like poverty, poor mental healthcare, and social issues.

I specified 'in my life', but yeah it's not important.
As for the actual proposals, beyond the stupid magazine and assault weapon business, it doesn't seem too bad

I only have 13 round magazines. This limit would make me a criminal. I don't want to have to replace all my magazines because of three more bullets.

See, here's the thing: You can't only object to gun crime. It's not okay if murders are still committed with other tools. You need to go after the root of the problem whilst affecting the fewest number of law-abiding citizens, the root being mental health.

I agree 100%, and to add to your statement, what about people beating eachother to death with their bare hands? Should we saw off people's hands and ban those too?

Guns are the only thing people can buy that are specifically made for killing things. Which is why they should not be sold.
I only have 13 round magazines. This limit would make me a criminal. I don't want to have to replace all my magazines because of three more bullets.
That "ten round limit" is damn tiny
Guns are the only thing people can buy that are specifically made for killing things. Which is why they should not be sold.
What about knives? Hunting knives and so forth.
Guns are the only thing people can buy that are specifically made for killing things. Which is why they should not be sold.
yeah if you exclude bows and knives lol

I'm sorry have you never made yourself dinner before?
Guns are the only thing people can buy that are specifically made for killing things. Which is why they should not be sold.
And is the desire to kill things not more of a problem than the existence of things that can be used to kill people?
yeah if you exclude bows and knives lol
Which are both extremely inefficient.
That "ten round limit" is damn tiny
The way to stop spree shooting is to make it so guns can only hold 1 round and there is a lock with a one minute timer that activates every time the gun is shot, locking up the action and preventing repeating fire.
[editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
Which are both extremely inefficient.
Not if you use the Knives as ammunition for the Bow.
Which are both extremely inefficient.
Isn't the stabbing rate in England very high? I'm asking because I really don't know.
I'd say that it's technically legal due to there being two separate tubes.
