Where does it say that he'll ban "assault weapons".
Where it specifically points out "weapons of war"??
Did obama seriously mention that one of the executive orders will spend MY tax money on studying whether or not violent video games make people go and kill people IRL?
Yup, that's what he said.
Fuck these "feelgood" bills. Demonizing gun owners wasn't enough, now he has to go and demonize gamers?
FP is all for scientific progress but oh god any sort of scientific study into violent media back the fuck up, obama's out to get all us gamers
Where does it say that he'll ban "assault weapons".
Where it says "getting weapons of war off the streets."
Where it specifically points out "weapons of war"??
restricting =/= banning
This argument is absurd. Yes, if you didn't have guns and all tried to rebel against the government you would probably lose, but if you did have guns you would still almost certainly lose.
How do you come to that conclusion?
No, it's bad. The bans on assault weapons will solve nothing, but will instead take people's property away for no real reason.
No real reason, except that if they feel like it they can use their property to murder scores of kids. But you know, that's not a 'real' reason.
FP is all for scientific progress but oh god any sort of scientific study into violent media back the fuck up, obama's out to get all us gamers
Way to button everyone into one group, man you really showed FP up didn't you
He also said Reagan supported an assault weapons ban, which he didn't. Obama is a lying jackass.
He also mentioned the violence problem in Chicago. I guess he forgot that Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country.
the executive orders
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
The legislative moves sound good mainly, the awb and hi-cap bans are just a couple small pieces to a much more comprehensive push so even if they can't get through most will. I guess that's pretty ok actually.
that's these
Require criminal background checks for all gun sales. (a.k.a. closing the "gun show loophole.")
Reinstate and strengthen the assault weapons ban.
Restore the 10-round limit on ammunition magazines.
Protect police by finishing the job of getting rid of armor-piercing bullets.
Give law enforcement additional tools to prevent and prosecute gun crime.
End the freeze on gun violence research.
Make our schools safer with more school resource officers and school counselors, safer climates, and better emergency response plans.
Help ensure that young people get the mental health treatment they need.
Ensure health insurance plans cover mental health benefits.
I'm somewhat confused as to what will happen next.
How do you come to that conclusion?
America has one of the most, if not THE most, powerful militaries in the world?

newsflash, your tax money goes to a lot of shit. shut up about spending tax money to do a study.
I'm somewhat confused as to what will happen next.
He (Obama) doesn't know either. His speech was a load of shit.
America has one of the most powerful militaries in the world?
You can't doubt that some of the military would defect and join a rebellion. There are also ways of attacking that can take down larger groups with a smaller army
The administration also wants to maintain the effort to ban armor-piercing bullets.
I don't recall hearing that armor-piercing bullets were used in these shootings anyway, let alone having some sort of effect on the outcome of such shootings.
I don't recall hearing that armor-piercing bullets were used in these shootings anyway, let alone having some sort of effect on the outcome of such shootings.
They weren't. They are banning them because of the scary name.
silly americans and your guns
EDIT: You don't need guns, you're acting like all of your lives will end if you can't have fucking assault weapons for christ sake. Get a grip. They're weapons of destruction, murder, torture.
lol instead of requiring firearm owners to go through a mandatory 10 hour firearms saftey course they just rage ban guns that look scary.
also there background check system is flawed, youths can commit crimes and get there record wiped on there 18th birthday making them look innocent.
You can't doubt that some of the military would defect and join a rebellion.
Then what do you need the civilian shit for?
They weren't. They are banning them because of the scary name.
Um citizens don't need those in the first place..
Then what do you need the civilian shit for?
More weaponry? There wouldn't be enough from military defectors to supply an entire rebellion.
I don't recall hearing that armor-piercing bullets were used in these shootings anyway, let alone having some sort of effect on the outcome of such shootings.
Are you going to tell us how you need such rounds for hunting and target shooting now?
Um citizens don't need those in the first place..
Citizens don't need Ferrari's either. Not needing something doesn't warrant banning it. Go to Australia if you want that shit.
Um citizens don't need those in the first place..
Nobody needs those
I was just watching this and all of a sudden he makes a remark about video games and I just fucking Gha VIDEO GAMES ARNT THE PROBLEM STOP TALKING ABOUT THEM.
Are you going to tell us how you need such rounds for hunting and target shooting now?
Armor wearing shooting targets
I'm glad you chose to ignore all the other parts of the proposal and look at one region where you can ignore numbers
I ignored the EO's until I actually saw them. I actually support almost all of them, but introducing another AWB into congress is still butfucking retarded.
lol instead of requiring firearm owners to go through a mandatory 10 hour firearms saftey course they just rage ban guns that look scary.

The federal government (Currently) does not have the authority to take the licensing & mandatory training requirements away from the states.
Blame the governors who set them so low and irresponsibly
If this goes into effect, he deserves to get impeached.
