They are still the largest gun lobby, they essentially own several legislators.
and how many legislators are in the pockets of the brady campaign or similar groups lol
Personally, I feel safer knowing that more extensive security measures are taken. It's a minor inconvenience, yes. But again, if it saves one plane from going down it's beyond worth it.
Having someone legally molest me isn't a "minor inconvenience".
and how many legislators are in the pockets of the brady campaign or similar groups lol
The Brady campaign doesn't have nearly the same influence as the NRA. The NRA is one of the richest lobbying groups in the US.
Columbine's constable wasn't there, Fort Hood was in a gun-free part of the base, VTech the doors were chained shut, and the shooter in the Portland mall killed himself after seeing a CCW permit holder draw a pistol on him. The permit holder didn't shoot because there were people behind the shooter who could have been hit if he missed, but the only shot fired by the shooter after the permit holder drew on him was the one to end his own life.
Amen. The only troublesome thing is that people wont look at these facts. They'll blow you off as a conspiracy theorist or something.
Having someone legally molest me isn't a "minor inconvenience".
Pat downs are not "Legal molestation", I agree that some overstep their boundaries and it is far from a perfect system, but regardless it's a good precaution to take.
So they've resorted to using the naïveté of children and get people to say "awww" instead of actually arguing. Your point?
Put the AR down for a minute, I'm against gun control.
Posting it was to highlight the stupidity behind it, 3rd graders and young children are taught to fear and hate guns and weapons especially at a young age (I'd be surprised if she was even allowed to draw those guns, assuming she wrote that in school) so its utterly stupid how Obama is attempting to exploit that.

NRA lobby's more for conservatism now-a-days anyways than they do for firearms. They told everyone to vote for Romney even though he was pro-AWB lol
Oh for fucks sake

So far, they have done more about this thing than the NRA has. Are you sure about this?

Oh, we couldn't tell because you didn't post anything else about it just the picture.
Painted a totally different post :v:

They're currently the ones lobbying to put armed guards in every school in the US. They have a huge influence on legislation when it comes to guns.
It's good knowing our country rallies for gun bans and video-game censorship with not a single word said of mental healthcare and actual safety improvements for schools.

My record on guns have always been consistent.
Wound cauterized? These are not laser weapons
And let's not forget hydrostatic shock which creates a wound cavity that is much larger than what a knife is capable of in a single stab
You do know that bullets get really hot...right? I mean they kind of get fired through a controlled explosive process and such.
They're currently the ones lobbying to put armed guards in every school in the US.
And is that a bad thing? There are armed guards in every school in my county, and we've never had a school shooting.

I'm absolutely sure, the NRA spends millions to lobby for guns ($2.7 mil in 2010) Brady campaign spends about $30,000

Since they get their money from donations and membership, then wouldn't that mean they just have more support, rather than influence?

I don't see why having a police officer in a school would be a bad thing.
I was going to write an intricate response to every proposal and twitter quote. Then I decided fuck it, not worth my time. Americans are heavily divided on this, and instead of doing any real negotiations, they used the Sandy Hook shooting as a fucking political surfboard.
I can't wait to see how all my redneck neighbors react. :v:

Fun fact, a man in London, Ontario was arrested and his house illegally searched because his kid drew a picture of her dad with a gun "killing monsters" in kindergarten. The school still refuses to apologize, the police force had to be ordered to apologize, and the only thing they found in his house was a BB gun. This happened sometime last Spring, and the school board still won't apologize.

Unless they're tracers or incidiary (which is controlled to hell), they rarely get hot enough to cauterize a wound. Cause a second-degree burn, maybe, but I doubt that's your biggest fear when there's a bullet in you.

I don't think having armed guards around young kids is a good idea especially because statistically its been shown that armed citizens are 3x more likely to get shot and no mass shooting has been stopped by a security force. I don't think we can stop guns with more guns, but that is just my personal belief.

When I was in middle school, friend of mine got suspended for drawing a handgun on his notebook :v:

It's better than nothing in a gun-free zone, don't you think? Unless you want the gun-free zones repealed an allow teachers to conceal? If that's the case, I'm up for that.
Well I've got to go guys, been nice talking with all of you. Seriously.
Those of you that weren't slinging insults actually made some very valid points and its been a pleasure but it goes to show why the nation is so divided on this issue. There are well educated and informed people on both sides that draw two completely different, yet rationalized, conclusions from the gun violence problem in the nation.
Bye all.

Hey, nice job sticking through and through. I may not agree with your side, but you kept your cool, and understood where our side was coming from.
I also like how AP Bullets are a concern, but hollow point aren't. (Not that I'm for banning them.)
Last I remember, the military is banned from using hollow point ammunition because it causes excessive damage. I'm glad government officials are so confused about guns, otherwise they'd tell us the only legal ammo for our shotguns would be beanbags and rocksalt. :v:
And not that I want to shit on your parade johnlmonkey (you acted mature, on Facepunch's SH. Seriously, kudios for that,) but armed citizens also account for roughly 40%+ of justified criminal deaths. So you have to balance that equation. If what you said is true, I'm actually not really sure how I feel about armed citizens (in considerations to shootings) if they accout for almost half of criminal deaths, but are 300% more likely to get shot and/or killed.

Well then I apologize for making my comment, although I did think it was pretty clever. Also, you could have indicated your leanings...

As he said, he's fairly pro-gun.
