Put the AR down for a minute, I'm against gun control. Posting it was to highlight the stupidity behind it, 3rd graders and young children are taught to fear and hate guns and weapons especially at a young age (I'd be surprised if she was even allowed to draw those guns, assuming she wrote that in school) so its utterly stupid how Obama is attempting to exploit that.
Maybe the issue isn't children being naive and easily scared, maybe it's that they just haven't gotten old enough to develop the intense, almost sexual fascination with guns and (ironically) childlike self-defense cowboy fantasies that our society seems to develop in lots of grown-ass adults? idfk
Last I remember, the military is banned from using hollow point ammunition because it causes excessive damage.
If I'm not mistaken, the primary objective for our military is to cause as many injuries as possible in a firefight. That's one of the reasons why we switched from .30-06 to 5.56. If you wound someone, it would cost that side more to take care of their injured comrades than a dead one. A dead soldier costs approximately 2 guys and a shovel, while an injured guy costs a lot of medical staff, supplies, and time.
Hey, nice job sticking through and through. I may not agree with your side, but you kept your cool, and understood where our side was coming from.
Yet he was bombarded with dumbs. People need to learn to only use dumb when someone says something dumb. There is a disagree rating for a reason.
As he said, he's fairly pro-gun.
Doesn't matter it was my fault anyways. I thought if I added some input, the picture wouldn't be as funny.
They're currently the ones lobbying to put armed guards in every school in the US. They have a huge influence on legislation when it comes to guns.
There are already armed guards at Middle Schools and high schools. I see no problem putting them in Elementary schools.
Yet he was bombarded with dumbs. People need to learn to only use dumb when someone says something dumb. There is a disagree rating for a reason.
Sometimes, there is something said that seems so ridiculous to us that we can't help but rate it dumb. I think everyone on facepunch has been guilty of that at least once (myself included).

Clever...

Whether it be anime or video games, cringeworthy enthusiasm for a particular hobby is not something exclusively reserved for guns. Once you understand this, you'll realize that the entire premises and "theory" you presented is invalid.
There are already armed guards at Middle Schools and high schools. I see no problem putting them in Elementary schools.
Where do you live that you have armed guards at your schools
Perhaps it's a good thing to make children dislike guns?
Where do you live that you have armed guards at your schools
Almost every school I visited back in Tucson, Arizona had armed personnel on campus. [editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
Perhaps it's a good thing to make children dislike guns?
You prevent incidents and accidents through education, not fear.
Almost every school I visited back in Tucson, Arizona had armed personnel on campus.
That is such a bizzare concept to me.
Where do you live that you have armed guards at your schools
You sound like it's a bad thing. It's just a police officer who walks the halls and deals with things. Not like it's a big deal. Oh man, a person is there in case something happens.
Almost every school I visited back in Tucson, Arizona had armed personnel on campus.
Sounds like they might have some bigger issues if thats the case
Where do you live that you have armed guards at your schools
I had them. Central virginia. The town I lived in was rather wealthy too, so it isn't like "they were needed because it is a high crime area". There isn't an incident I can remember when I was in highschool or middle school.
That is such a bizzare concept to me.
I don't see why it is. You guys already live in a police state.
You sound like it's a bad thing. It's just a police officer who walks the halls and deals with things. Not like it's a big deal. Oh man, a person is there in case something happens.
A School resource officer is not an armed guard. Hes a liaison to the PD.
Sounds like they might have some bigger issues if thats the case
What? I just don't understand why that makes it seem like there" Issues". It's merely a precaution and not a very invasive one at that. The Principles and AP's can't always do everything or stop every fight.
A School resource officer is not an armed guard. Hes a liaison to the PD.
The 'Liaison' at my school had a Glock and pepper spray.
Perhaps it's a good thing to make children dislike guns?
That's irrelevant. Guns are heavily demonized in the elementary classroom environment, which is not a bad thing - but to pluck an elementary student and say "Look, even they recognize the dangers guns pose if we don't ban them" is laughable attempt at exploiting a child's age and naivete to further an agenda. Elementary kids face risk of expulsion if they just draw a gun in their notebook, so of course they will have a negative outlook on guns.
A School resource officer is not an armed guard. Hes a liaison to the PD.
I guess it depends on where you live. The various schools I've attended have had actual Police officers or Sheriff deputies.
The 'Liaison' at my school had a Glock and pepper spray.
He's still a cop. Doesn't mean he's there to provide security. He's there to deal with things like drugs and alcohol.
The 'Liaison' at my school had a Glock and pepper spray.
thats because, and I know this might scare you, hes a police officer.
Perhaps it's a good thing to make children dislike guns?
As a potentially dangerous tool that should be handled carefully and respectfully? Sure. As scary murder-machines in a way that promotes ignorance? Nah
thats because, and I know this might scare you, hes a police officer.
Regardless hes there for the schools security.
The point is if the government goes tyrannical, which has happened before in other countries, we can fight back. That's one of the reasons that the second amendment was made for.
Weapons isn't the factor that decides whenever you'll win or lose anymore. Communication is. So you should be far more worried about free speech. And if it's for self defense, well there's a rising amount of alternatives in the last decade or two.
That is such a bizarre concept to me.
It's pretty normal down there. My old school back in Hamburg, NY, had an officer which was armed with a taser and the doors were usually locked until the end of the school day. Only way you could get in or out was with the approval of the nurse, principle, or have your doctor call the school, and tell them that you had an appointment on that day[which also went through the nurse].
Pretty disgusting how he had a bunch of children around him as if they knew anything about what was going on. The EOs aren't that bad, 16th one is stupid but whatever. The larger concern is his support for a AWB and him basically telling congress to do one
