Except that would conflict with a policy against using military intervention in a foreign country.
If something tanks in another country, then it's our own damn fault for exclusively relying on that resource. Specialization is the worst mistake you can make, just as a matter of survival. You never know when that resource is going to disappear so you have to be prepared it.
What are Ron Paul's views anyway? I don't pay attention to politics that much.

No it is that simple. The fact that were are so reliant on foreign oil is stupid, the fact that we have to use military intervention to secure the stability of that resource is even worse. Course we can always spend another 10 years in the middle east to make sure the pipes keep flowing. And then another 10 after that.
Oh and I have a horse, it runs on plant matter and water, so I'm pretty well covered if the US suddenly found itself without fuel.
