The guy in the video is right, if you are a PC gamer, stay the fuck away from the consoles, if you don't enjoy it that doesn't mean that everyone that does play it has to suffer because you are a massive schmuck.
Why yes, it is a nice % edit, thanks for noticing.
anyway, i agree that it is, and its a bad thing.
They'd definitely need the original firmware to decompile it and reverse engineer it, to make CFW that works almost like the original but with more freedom. BUT how the CFW is coded, that I have no idea about.
The CFW is just a few applications packaged into the GameOS update file itself, and a modified XML file for the XMB layout to add some buttons here and there. Therefore they are using and redistributing Sonys' OS, giving Sony the right to stop them. And from what I've seen so far, they have to use GameOS in some way to get the keys to sign installers and such, to allow us to install OtherOS they need some way of launching an installer, which will likely require CFW in the end to be user-friendly. The way failoverflow showed us at first was a extremely hacky hardware flash.
anyway, i agree that it is, and its a bad thing.
Bad in what way? People cannot retract or change their statements in one way or another? Anyone else could say that editing your post to add an extra sentence of stupidity is worse than changing one digit in a percentage.
"within their rights" is irrelevant, as those are legal rights and if you also make a point about the morality of taking playtime away from their customers, you need to make a point about the morality of the consumers supporting a company that uses slave labor for production. edit: (and dumps their electronic waste in 3rd world countries)
Morality isn't a concern for either them or us. If they used slave labour they would have been called out on it fucking years ago too. Foxconn produce most of their components I expect (they produce everything anyway), and while they do have shady practices still within their countries laws, it is in no way slave labour. Stop being a god damn idiot and think for yourself, not think what the hacking scene is telling you.
oh no guys, if they can shut down the Playstation network this easily imagine what they can do to the PC network hahaha
My buddy just got Portal 2 for the PS3 and we were going to do do co-op. And then PSN died.
I like how they always act like anonymous was a hacker group or something, its called anonymous for a reason, everyone can claim he's anonymous. Everyone around me says "OMG ITS THIS HACKER GROUP ANONIMOUSE".
UNLEASH THE LAWYERS wait is it for real?

I think your unaware of the vast problems in today's world, or hear about them and shovel them into some dark recess where you dont have to deal with them, and dont think of the connections they make with you.
Very weird, I tried signing into PSN yesterday and an error kept on occurring.
theres actually a long list of stuff sony has done to "deserve" it (also done by almost every other major corp) but this is not about deserving it, revenge doesnt solve things. this is an attempt to get them to stop stuff they are still doing, this isnt about revenge.
Yes. Sony deserve it. Not their customers which are currently suffering.

What the fuck are you talking about? People work, people get paid, slaves work, they get shit all. There is no such thing as a wage slave. Unless you mean people who have no choice but to work in a certain job, which is usually their fault due to bad decisions in life, or their countries fault for not providing its people enough to get a chance at something. Cheap labour is not exactly morally or socially wrong, it seems cheap to us because usually we live in first world countries, where everyone earns the same amount of money minimum because we can afford it and out economies work with it, other countries like China don't seem to enforce these things as much, of course companies are going to pay their workers less. And before calling me unaware of the worlds problems, pull your head out of your ass, just because I don't post about or think about these problems all day and all night does not mean I don't acknowledge they exist. There isn't anything I can do to stop them, so there isn't much point worrying over them constantly. Also do you have any proof of Sony doing half the stuff you just mentioned? companies do not simply get away with what you mentioned, they cannot just stroll country and start fucking with the economy or legal system like that. If not then your argument becomes invalid, there is no reason to attack services Sony provides for things like this, how the fuck did you even get onto this in the first place? I think I might just start ignoring your arguments in these threads, you seem to use a different one each time to make yourself believe Sony are evil and want to ruin our world in some way.
that guy needs to shave

I care because I just bought 3 $20 Playstation Network cards because I was going to buy Undead Nightmare for RDR and all the Borderlands DLC and thats all wasted because of Anon and Sony. Anon, if your going to fight back, attack their site not the gamers. Sony, get over it.
I've been checking the Sony PlayStation media outlets (Twitter/Facebook) and none of them are getting updated. Does anyone have any confirmation on what is going on?
Apparently my brother can't get on PSN, which is just great because for the past week I've been unable to access my Steam account, and then when I finally get it back and everything is fine, then this shit happens. Great.
Yes. Sony deserve it. Not their customers which are currently suffering.
Oh no I can't connect to PSN, such pain.

In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.
It's hard to be a fanboy now when Sony can't pull it's own head from its ass and does things like this to their customers. There is no backup or preparation in place before this happened? We're talking millions of customers around the globe here. One of the great qualities of the Playstation 3 shot down in an instant, turning it into a fat brick. Not good Sony. Bad for me, cause I use my Playstation 3 to communicate freely with my distant relatives and cousins. Not to mention, my girlfriend. Some LBP2 would have been nice tonight...
Anonymous fails at everything, they need to fuck off.
Anonymous = 4chan users that always post as Anonymous. Anonymous =/= Organized hacker group. [editline]23rd April 2011[/editline]
PC ftw.
What if Steam goes down one day? :tinfoil:
PC ftw.
Both forms of entertainment FTW.

A backup is more for when the hardware running the main one, or data on the main one breaks. Plus the console is hardly a "fat brick", it still works, we just have another function missing for a while.
Your quality poster title is wrong :v:
Shut up, people are SUFFERING. Dude, there's no psn, people are in real pain right now. Fuck the ones who have real suffering like hunger or cancer, what matters is that no psn = people fucking suffer. Don't you get it? A day without psn for a ps3 user is like a year in hell.

This is so dumb dude what is the point of them taking it down? Fuck
Only reason i'm mad is because i rented SOCOM 4 to play it online and i haven't been able to for 2 days, just wasted that whole rental
