I would just like to point out that there is no dispute over wether global warming is happening or not...It's been proven.
Wether humans are the cause of it or not, is what is disputed.
No, it's pretty well documented.
Where are you people getting the idea that we don't know what's causing this?
I told you, the world hasn't ended because humans are pretty good at fixing shit when our lives depend on it.
No we aren't. The world hasn't ended because our lives, as a generation, WEREN'T depending on fixing the Ozone. The hole is still open and still just as fucking big, give or take a few percentage points. We were told there would be a mass cancer epidemic in a matter of years. Not even decades, just years. There hasn't been one, and there wouldn't have been one. Our lives weren't depending on anything anymore than usual, we just thought they were and we fixed a non-threatening problem.
And it's arguable if it's even fixed. It's going to take so long for it to repair itself, who's to say something won't change in the near future that hinders its repair?
And of course it's full of propaganda. People are getting interested. And people are fucking stupid. And so people spread proganda about shit they don't know about.
But the science is there regardless.
And I assume you're defining yourself as "science" and not "people" in this equation.
That is a bullshit excuse for propaganda. People aren't stupid, we're gullible when we're told we're all going to die. Who wouldn't be? Al Gore won a fucking Oscar for making a powerpoint about how we're all FUCKED in ten years. It doesn't matter if he was right, because if we AREN'T dead in ten years, Al Gore is going to claim victory.
What I'm saying is that if we're facing a real threat here, not like the Ozone bullshit was, I mean a legit threat against the species: We. Are. Fucked.
The entire world has bought into sensationalism and thinks they know what a threat against the species looks like. We haven't faced an apocalyptic threat, ever. We don't know what they look like, but the fact that we think we do, and we think we can rely on fucking Al Gore and our incompetent world leaders to fix it based on the bullshit sensationalism of years passed? We've slit our own throats.
That's why you research shit. I shared your opinion, then I did the research, and I realized the science was there. There are purely scientific sources out there.
I'm not questioning Global Warming. I'm questioning government's ability to fix it.
Nay, I'm saying outright:
Global government is to fucking incompetent to fix it.

Stop posting please, not just for this thread but remove your internet connection, every post you make is like spewing shit.
So in essence we fixed fuck all, the hole is still there and will take the better part of a century to repair most of itself, and that MAY be due in part to a single international ban. The effectiveness of which is arguable at best. One thing's for certain though, we aren't all dead like all the nuts said we would be in, what, ten years? And the likelihood that government intervention is at all a major player in the (extremely slow and most certainly not definite) repair of the Ozone is getting slimmer and slimmer.

US President Barack Obama speaks at at the Group of Eight (G8) summit in L'Aquila, 09 Jul 2009
U.S. President Barack Obama said the G8 and its partners have reached a historic consensus on climate change and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Thursday's announcement came at the end of two days of discussions at the G8 summit in L'Aquila, Italy.
President Obama said G8 members and their partners from the world's major emerging economies made important strides in combating climate change.
"Developing nations committed to reducing their emissions in absolute terms and for the first time, developing nations also acknowledged the significance of the two degree Celsius metric and agreed to take action to meaningfully lower their emissions relative to business as usual in the next decade or so," he said.

Meeting here in L'Aquila, all parties agreed that global temperatures should not rise by more than an average of two degrees above pre-industrial levels.
G8 members also agreed to work toward an 80 percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050. While developing nations have committed themselves to negotiating cuts, they have not yet agreed on specifics.
President Obama said it is also crucial that developed nations understand the concerns of developing countries and their fear that some of these measures could hamper their economic growth. That need not be, said Mr. Obama, citing economic growth and clean energy and reduction of greenhouse gases can go hand in hand. The American president acknowledged much work lies ahead.
"We made a good start. But I'm the first one to acknowledge that progress on this issue will not be easy," he said.
President Obama said no one nation caused global warming and no one country can resolve the problem. A broad global effort is crucial, he said.
"Ultimately, we have a choice. We can either shape our future or we can let events shape it for us," he added.
Mr. Obama said consensus in L'Aquila has shown which path nations here want to take.
But there has been criticism of the proposed measures, with some environmental groups saying they are not enough. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said the 2050 targets are too far in the future and that more needs to be done sooner. Many analysts said tough negotiations lie ahead before the next international conference on climate change in Copenhagen in December.
Here in L'Aquila, G8 leaders and their partners continue discussions on Friday, when the top agenda items are development assistance and Africa.
And I'm President of a pretty little pink planet called Zog.
Face it, as a species, we've gone past the red line, no turning back, we're already fucked, we're just delaying it a little.
Haha, yeah right. There is unsurmountable evidence that the earth is getting warmer. If it's permanent or not or manmade we don't know.
I think it's just a normal climate change, Mr.Sun can be quite tricky at times, didn't we get out of an ice age just a few thousand years ago?
I agree, we are messing up our environment, hell, we could be contributing to the climate change, but should we be making massive changes to our lifestyles just because it's getting warmer? I don't think so. We aren't 100% sure that this is all our fault, until someone shows me conclusive proof that global warming is real and our fault, I'm going to live my life normally. Yes, the earth is getting warmer, it's something you can't deny, but whether it's our fault or not, is something I don't know.
Also, don't worry about the polar bears.
Professor J. Scott Armstrong of the Wharton School says, “To list a species that is currently in good health as an endangered species requires valid forecasts that its population would decline to levels that threaten its viability. In fact, the polar bear populations have been increasing rapidly in recent decades due to hunting restrictions. Assuming these restrictions remain, the most appropriate forecast is to assume that the upward trend would continue for a few years, then level off.
Am I the only who thinks we should try to be cleaner and more enviromentally friendly regardless of whether or not global warming is real?

And if we did assume global warming is real, and it did turn out to be real, we would have a headstart at slowing it.

Since when have we been a preemptive species :3:
Let's look at Al Gore, someone who advocates action against the fluctuation of our earth's climate.
That's a pipe dream.
Sure a constant environment would be nice, but it would be unnatural.
Let's also look at the fact that our world's climate has changed since its genesis.
Maybe he chose to capitalize on the world's natural order?
Since when have we been a preemptive species :3:
Do you know how evolution works?
This could be the possible stimuli to force our species to change, and whoever doesn't heed the warnings will die.
It's just a thought.

I'm not saying we should remove our luxuries, but we seriously need to learn how to be a competent efficient species.
To fuck our own planet and then leave it in a degraded state and move onto another one would be completely fucking stupid.

We can never fuck our own planet. I laugh at that concept. The planet will survive us completely.
However, in the short time we are here, do we want to live in smoke-filled shit holes?
I mean, I'm getting pretty sick of L.A.

The thing is that the currently proposed legislation has the air that we should take immediate action.
The legislation is crippling and CO2 isn't a pollutant!

Of course CO2 is a pollutant.
It's fucking toxic, it's acidic, and it retains heat.
Even without us, global warming would still happen as it is a natural process.
We don't really affect it as much as we are led to believe.
