could load the water gun with acid, dont want that to get on your face
Any acid that could cause severe burns would have to contained safely, cheap ass plastic doesn't sound good for that sorta thing.
This. If you try to fire a gun off at a convention where EVERYONE also has a gun, your ass will be gone faster than you can say "communism".
Sorry but I honestly don't buy that if someone pulls out a gun and starts shooting in the middle of a dense crowd, a bunch of gun-toting bystanders will be able to quickly discern who the original shooter was and safely take him out from a distance with shooting any innocent bystanders or each other. I think it'd actually be the opposite of that; that if you're in a busy area and suddenly gunshots start going off, you have no idea whether the person you're about to shoot is the original shooter, or someone shooting at the original shooter, or someone shooting at someone shooting at the original shooter, or someone about to shoot you because he heard gunshots going off and hey, you and everyone else and their mother now has a gun out and is firing into crowds of people. I think it's sort of a fantasy that in a hectic, confusing shooting situation a bunch of gun-toting vigilantes will immediately stop the shooting with no collateral damage; because in reality it'll actually pretty much be exactly like this, instead:
unless he intends on shooting people in which case he's gonna cause mad disruptions, yo
So licensed persons with no criminal history who lawfully carry concealed are at major risk for suddenly snapping and undertaking a massacre? Are you paranoid licensed lorry drivers are going to suddenly snap and start running down people on the sidewalk every time you step outside? These are people who carry everywhere they go, every day of their lives, how is a convention any different?
Any acid that could cause severe burns would have to contained safely, cheap ass plastic doesn't sound good for that sorta thing.
Already pointed above that the best acid for that, sulfuric acid, does nothing to plastic unless you literally leave it there for years, and even then.
Defending the second amendment trough banning water pistols sounds fun.
So licensed persons with no criminal history who lawfully carry concealed are at major risk for suddenly snapping and undertaking a massacre?
No, licensed persons with no criminal history who lawfully carry concealed are at major risk for not being omniscient deadeyes who are able to, in a confusing shooting situation, quickly and correctly differentiate between who the original shooter is and the dozens of other lawfully concealed carrying citizens who now also have their guns out and quickly and efficiently plug the original shooter who is standing in the middle of a crowded area without hitting anyone else. This is the virtually the exact same argument I already posted but you didn't seem to read that so I guess I'm just going to keep posting it until you so nobly deign to bother reading a thread all the way through instead of pounding the 'quote' button the moment you see anything you disagree with and skip the rest of the thread in the process. [editline]6th May 2012[/editline]
These are people who carry everywhere they go, every day of their lives, how is a convention any different?
Because at a convention there will be security checkpoints (which are a real thing, that can work!) and a properly trained and armed security detail so we won't have to rely on the identify-friend-or-foe sensors of a bunch of random citizens who may or may not be intoxicated on Ron Paul to stop any potential threat. There are times and a places for the armed public to have the right to be armed so as to defend themselves from an avatar of tyranny given flesh or whatever it is that they're preparing themselves to have to shoot but a busy political event filled with high-profile assassination targets and dense enough crowds so as to obfuscate the origins of any shooting and turn any assassination attempt into a fucking john woo film isn't one of them.
