Their article about Matt Taylor was downright despicable, and their reviews are completely useless. It's fine to have bias, but The Verge doesn't even try to stay objective anymore (look at the Ellen Pao reporting - they drew conclusions as soon as they jumped on the story, and then it turned out to actually not be a black and white case - embarrassing). I don't find The Verge trustworthy when it comes to technology, and I don't care for their other reporting at all. Their video work is great, but that's about it really. Obviously some people hate them because of gamergate or whatever, but The Verge was on the way down way before that hit.
Their coverage of the Ellen Pao case was fine, they absolutely covered both sides.
This is Ellen Pao invoking California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act and possibly coming up short.
That's a Verge quote.
There isn't really any tech blog that compares to the Verge right now in production quality and actual journalistic quality. On p much all the other sites it feels like they are copying press releases verbatim.
ArsTechnica and Motherboard are both really good as well imo. There's some others. I do see what people are saying with the Ellen Pao case though, they've pretty much all been one sided, and basically not researched into the other side at all. There was this one Motherboard article that just totally dismissed all of her critics. (though some of the reddit comments in this article are genuinely despicable and sexist) I'd say Ars is as good as it gets Compared to the likes of shit like Engadget, though, you're totally right. The Verge is shit loads better. edit: this is way off topic
