Apparently Anita supports #CancelColbert, even though tho she appeared on his show earlier.
Because its free publicity which means more and more invites for her to appear as a vip guest for cons and shit which is fee money/vacation.
you have a strange definition of whiny babies
gamergate has plenty of women in it.
Yeah but there is also a long history of men subjugating and women not being well represented in media . So the whining has a bit more legitimacy.
Man half the time this gamergate nonsense makes a bit of sense but the other half sounds like a bunch of dudes acting like whiny babies.
I don't think it's entirely uncalled for to whine when the vast majority of news media is calling you something you demonstrably are not. A lot of the GG thing is just backlash against slander and demonization.

I think he was trying to point out that by calling GG a bunch of men, you're erasing the women involved in the thing

Well don't take it so personally then. Sarkeesian is criticizing the industry and society around video games. She's doing a sociological analysis, not a full scale assault.

Oh whoops. Well I don't think I would be wrong in guessing that dudes make up a majority of the pro-gamergate side.

the idea that gamergate is "a bunch of men attacking women and trying to keep them out of the industry" is a complete fabrication. I'd call that a smear campaign.
Dudes make up a majority of the pro-gamergate side just as they make up a majority of the anti-gamergate side. That doesn't mean women aren't welcome or aren't present in either.

Her analysis on games is absolute ass of cherry picking and opinion. And it shows when she was asked to say 3 games that are misogynistic and she completely blanked out. She doesnt give a single fuck about women and just loves to stir the shit pot for free controversy that nets her pitty money and more publicity for shows at cons and the like.
You guys are upset? I can't wait to see what kind of smartass comments Stephen is going to give her. :v:
I do think it's pretty entertaining watching the young, generally liberal, gamers finally having their eyes opened when it comes to what conservatives call the "liberal media." This is the exact same treatment that the Tea Party got. It was a fairly middle class grassroots movement against big government and high taxes, but the media ignored all that and focused on the very small percentage of hateful people in order to brand the entire thing as being a bunch of racists.

It's already over and he made more snide comments about gamer nerds than her opinions.

What's so frustrating about this is that since it's an internet based thing, we actually have hard data on what the discourse is like. We know how volatile people are being, and we know they're a tiny, tiny minority.
If the story can be spun into painting everyone as a bunch of sexists when there's hard proof they aren't, I can only imagine how bad it would be if there wasn't any data.
The interview wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it wasn't really good though.
It's already over and he made more snide comments about gamer nerds than her opinions.
Damn already? I thought it was going to air on Thursday, I've been at work all day. I guess it was as bad as you guys had anticipated, I'll check it out in a few minutes.
Bayonetta is one of the best female characters in games. She's confident, strong, and she doesn't give a shit what you think of her. She's one of the most positive examples of a woman in games, is one of the most powerful game characters to exist, her being a woman is never considered a weakness or problem, but oh no her clothes come of and you can see her butt when she does special attacks, so sexist.
People who think Bayonetta is sexist because she's naked sometimes need to grow up.
boobs are only sexualized when you sexualize them, same goes for the butt and back and skin.
from the images I see you see some back but the breast coverage is actually more sensible than what I see from some women who I see just walking down the street.
her cloths I saw on google are tight but they're not much worse than stuff I see in public anyways

Bayonetta is definitely sexual in nature, I don't think anyone's contesting that. She pole dances, she gets naked, she strikes sexy poses and all that.
Why shouldn't she? Dante liked to revel in how cool he was, why can't Bayonetta revel in how sexy she is?
also, just to tell anita to fuck off Im' going to buy bayo 2

I've not played the game myself so I'm going off cover art and some game videos really
it never looked sexist or anything to me imho. Plenty of women do this, plenty of men do this as well, many times in other ways

Hearing how the interview turned out really crushes my spirits.
Ruined my day.
being kicked in the balls? there's a whole porn genre for that. anthropomorphic women with dicks fucking one another? been done. Literal shit? been done. personified planes fucking one another? been done.

"sexual" is less a characteristic of media, and more a state of mind of the audience
I watched this, the whole thing was a strawman attack on gamergate and gamers in general, protraying them as worthless scum and saying that gaming doesn't 'belong' to them anymore. It was disappointing, another flawless victory for Anita and Co.
eh, colbert took the easy route and mocked nerds and gamers in general, unsurprising tbh.
Anita Sarkeesian has a masters degree
In communications.
I don't think that makes any qualified to talk about fucking ANYTHING.
The point is that they come at things with a certain political opinion. They don't come at it from the perspective of the industry they're claiming to represent, they come at it with the perspective of "how can I get my voice heard as loudly as possible."
They're like the priests at megachurches. They play it up, be loud, appeal to the weaker minded who will listen to their garbage, regardless of whether or not they know what the hell they're talking about, and people give them money.
Sarkeesian didn't even record her own footage for her videos, she took it from other youtubers. She has said before that she's not a gamer, and she doesn't like games. She and other people of her breed have come out attacking "gamers", insulting them.
Imagine if someone made their career about getting more women into programming and CS, and then started a campaign against programmers, saying "Programmers are garbage, fuck programmers."
How the fuck do you claim to represent something if you are explicitly against it?
Sarkeesian doesn't give a shit about games. She doesn't even play them. It took her thousands of dollars to "research" games? If she had a valid opinion on the games she could come up with it on the spot. She doesn't care about women either; she just cares about advancing her own political ideology, playing the victim in every possible case, and then getting paid for it.
This is all that ever needs to be said about her. She's an irrelevant non-factor to the core purpose of bettering gaming for women and anyone else. She's a nobody in reality (and reflects people like Kim Kardashian), who has risen to fame having done exactly fucking nothing worthy of her perceived position in the gaming political climate or notoriety. She is nothing, and giving her any kind of attention does jack shit to better gaming, if it does not in fact make it worse.

Nah man even if her it analysis is shite(okay it's basically feminist critique 101) I'm glad people are talking and thinking critically about girls in video games now.
Now if only the game media wasn't a massive JOKE
mainstream game review sites are the worst

I like to think that people would know that Other M is garbage and that Beyond Good and Evil is great with or without Anita. I think all aspects of media should be looked at critically, I just don't think she's said anything worthy of note.
Damn it, is it too late into the thread to mention how Anita's eyebrows suck?
