Greg Gutfeld To Open A Gay Bar Next To Ground Zero Mosque To Cater To “Islamic Gay Men”

And? As I said, in some eras - the Muslims were more tolerant to the religious minorities (still putting them in the Dhimmi class), and at other times - not so much (massacring and deporting).
The Almohad dynasty, who ruled the Maghrab and Southern Spain for 140 years, persecuted the religious minorities.
This is the Almohad dynasty

Yeah I know, I was referring to the Al-Andalus
Your point? They still persecuted religious minorities.
Al Andalus is the name of Southern Spain given to it by the Muslims. It never was independent, always under the control of some sort of Islamic dynasty (besides the Emirate of Cordoba, which was an puppet state of the Abbasied Dynasty).
someone on Fox News critisizing Islam for being homophobic = pot calling the kettle black
Your point? They still persecuted religious minorities.
Not as much, they were given a lot of rights. While the Christians ruled Spain no non Christians were to enter.
The Jews were even allowed to practice their religion and live according to the laws and scriptures of their own community.

We are talking about different eras. In general, the Muslim dynasties were more tolerate than the Christians - but that is totally irrelevant to the fact that in other eras the Muslim dynasties were equally or worse than their Christian counterparts.
Under the Almohad dynasty, Jews and Christians were forcedd to stand in front of choosing conversion to Islam or death.
By the way, my ancestors were expelled from Spain in 1492 (they apparently lived in Toledo), and lived in Morocco since then.

Actually there was no proof of that. A verse in the Qur'an even forbid the forced conversions (2:256).
Also
Karen Armstrong asserts that after Muhammad's death, nobody in the Islamic empire was forced to accept the Islamic faith.[15]
he Almohads, who had taken control of the Almoravids' Maghribi and Andalusian territories by 1147,[2] far surpassed the Almoravids in fundamentalist outlook, and they treated the dhimmis (non-Muslims) harshly. Faced with the choice of either death or conversion, most Jews and Christians emigrated.[3] A few, like the family of Maimonides, eventually fled east to more tolerant Muslim lands,[4] while most of them went northward to settle in the growing Christian kingdoms.[5][6]

I've read entire books about this... seriously.

Was that during Christian rule?
In 1492, the year of the reconquista - the re-occupation of Spain from the Muslims, all Muslims and Jews were expelled from Spain. Also, to repost what I wrote, in case you missed it:

I was looking for other sources since "Faced with the choice of either death or conversion, most Jews and Christians emigrated.[3]" has a broken citation. I never knew.
What about "Queer'an"
Well, indeed it is - fair enough. It doesn't change the fact, though - that the minorities were persecuted by that dynasty.
Found another source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi#Freedom_of_religion_and_forced_conversions
In the 12th century, rulers of the Almohad dynasty purged Muslims who would not submit to their particular brand of Islam, and killed or forcibly converted Jews and Christians in Al-Andalus and the Maghreb, putting an end to the existence of Christian communities in North Africa outside Egypt.[79] In an effort to survive under Almohads, most Jews resorted to practicing Islam outwardly, while remaining faithful to Judaism; they openly reverted to Judaism after Almohad persecutions passed.[80]
I never denied that, my initial point was directed at that the other poster who thought all non-Muslims must be killed. Instead of Spain being an example, I'll just use the Qur'an itself, 2:256 forbids the opposite.
See my edit^
And the fact that the Qur'an states forced conversion is forbidden (and yet tells of cases were people were killed because of refusal to convert) - doesn't mean some Muslims didn't do it.

The broken citation links to a still-existing site where I found, with very little searching, this:
Morocco
Most Moroccan Jews were notoriously mistreated. In 1033, six thousand Jews were murdered when they were declared a legitimate target of persecution. Under the brutal reign of the Almohad dynasty in the 12th and 13th centuries, many Jews converted to Islam under penalty of death. Muslim authorities historically applied a severe version of dhimmi law, requiring Jews to walk barefoot through city streets, wear distinguishing black garments, and live in confined ghettos.
Which seems like it could be the source of the citation on Wiki.

The Almohad dynasty was a dumb and cruel dynasty, that's pretty fucked up.

I know, except he was citing the Qur'an.

Off-topic, but there seem to be two things in common for all time periods and civilizations in history:
1. Egypt has existed for quite some time and their former glory has diminished but is respected
2. Jews are persecuted
It's raining men? Awwwwwwwwwww...
Yeah, everyone knows that. But it's not pointing out the fact that there are gay Muslims. It's pointing out that Muslims kill gays in their country.
Also, the post above mine makes it a tad ironic, because if Christians and Jews still had their way, it would still be a death sentence.
Also, this guy works at Fox and he's opening a Gay Bar? :wtc:
pretty much every archaic religion thinks homosexuality should be met with death.

I have heard from many people who have been in both Iraq and Afghanistan the past few years that Thursday is a very popular day for them...

Almohad lost a lot of momentum towards the 1200's. It's always been a sort of "exclusive" extremist sect.

That's irrelevant. You don't have to agree with everything. You can be a republican who agrees with the party about everything besides that particular issue.
I know, except he was citing the Qur'an.
That Hadith infers that it is ok to force conversion at some cases.

It wasn't a sect.
Hey idiots arguing over history, no one thinks you're smart and you're not making any logical points. It's not 1000 AD in the middle east and none of that shit is relevant.
If you think muslims are naturally violent and don't have the same right to free religion as anyone else in this country, you're an ignorant douche and I kind of hope you die. This whole mosque argument is entirely stupid.

Someone didn't read the entire thread.
I did read the thread, up until it became an irrelevant argument over whether or not all muslims are bloodthirsty immoral monsters straight from the middle ages or not between a bunch of egotists and then I gave up.
No one claimed that. Besides that {ABK}AbbySciuto guy
Read the Quran (Koran, however the fuck you spell it). Unless you believe every last thing in that book, you aren't a muslim; you're an infidel who must be extinguished according to the Islamic religious beliefs.
It doesn't say that in the Quaran, and there are many people who believe in their respective holy books, muslims/christians included, without enforcing it's strict/unreasonable rules.
:bravo: To you, good sir, for your ignorance.
I have multiple muslim friends who don't give a shit about me being atheist, and likewise, I don't judge them by their beliefs either. Heck, they don't discriminate against gays either.
