Better than ignoring facts just so you don't seem racist
surely more bad will come of this than good
"They will take comfort from the fact that the UN does not endorse the protection of LGBT people against hate-motivated murder."
This sits a little unclear to me.
surely more bad will come of this than good
Oh gee, really?
People’s Republic of Korea
While on their website
20. What is North Korea’s stance on homosexuality?
Due to tradition in Korean culture, it is not customary for individuals of any sexual orientation to engage in public displays of affection. As a country that has embraced science and rationalism, the DPRK recognizes that many individuals are born with homosexuality as a genetic trait and treats them with due respect.
Homosexuals in the DPRK have never been subject to repression, as in many capitalist regimes around the world. However, North Koreans also place a lot of emphasis on social harmony and morals. Therefore, the DPRK rejects many characteristics of the popular gay culture in the West, which many perceive to embrace consumerism, classism and promiscuity.
Fucking ninjas

And just when I thought my country was improving socially and culturally wise.
I can't believe my dad's home country voted. (Bangladesh).
South Africa?
What a bunch of cunts.
Why are they constantly after the fudgepackers?
I really don't understand.
Why?
cultural relativism pah
you think the west isn't the one stoking this fire?
I know, specifically those immoral missionaries. To be honest the whole aid effort in general is a mess and needs an overhaul.
EDIT: Oh damn, forgot to quote the part of the article I was responding to, my bad.
Just goes to show how useless the UN actually is.
I think the UN should only apply to countries which are true democracies. These countries will be divided into 3 types: ones where everyone is 100% free, who will have regular influence on the UN as all countries do now, while countries who are democracies without 100% freedom are like "minor members" with half the influence of the truly free countries (and I say this knowing Israel will be considered a minor member), and countries which are democratic but have limited freedom be given the smallest amount of influence possible, while countries who aren't democratic won't have any influence at all, however, they will be allowed to be in the UN as "guests" so they can observe how true democracies and free countries act.
This will give power and influence to the free world, not divide it between the free world and the corrupt asshole-ish governments of many dictatorial and undemocratic countries.
No country has 100% freedom, you might as well disband the UN, then.
I love how the Democratic People's Republic of Korea voted for this when on their FAQ website they say they have no problems with gay people :v:
Kim Jong-Il what'chu doin?!
He wants to be able to execute without reason whoever he wants, even the gays.
No country has 100% freedom, you might as well disband the UN, then.
Well they could just divide democratic countries into 3 types, have some kind of an non-biased team investigate the levels of freedom in each country, and then put each country into the category of "most free", "least free" and "moderately free".
Or we could just do what you said.
But they eat the poo poo, they must be executed.
note to facepunch: most of these countries are heavily supported by foreign religious ministries. i know both the mormon church and the evangelical movement have been heavily involved in shit like this
Thisispain, trying to put it on "da YT man keepin us down" again. There really is no way he could ever accept that the third world is a festering homophobic turd, in fact, if he saw a gay being beheaded in Mozambique or whatever, his mind would block out the memory as soon as it was over.
I can't believe my dad's home country voted. (Bangladesh).
Really? You can't believe it? Bangladesh is a piece of shit full of shitty people like your dad.

Jamaica voted yes on this? What happened to the pot smoking hippy lifestyle?
Traitors.

Yeah, but the problem is, the UN is someones power foothold, and I doubt they'll want to give it up, so they'll do everything in their power to keep it together.

You're a fucking dick.
I'm really surprised more Eastern European countries didn't vote for this. Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia - the story about homosexual rights is more or less similar in these countries.
